Unbelievable!... This is arguably the best tutorial video I've ever seen. Being a professional Guitar player myself, I always wanted to play this song on my acoustic Guitar, but I kept postponing it because the very thought of working out the arpegios and replicating the intricate piano notes on the Guitar, would put me off. But you made it so easy for me, David! Thanks a million...and keep it up!
Ah, right. Well spotted! It's: ….to(C)morrow, Carry (C/B)on, carry (Am)on as if (Fm)nothing really (C)matters. It's just a C with a typical bass run down to Am. Hope that clears it up.
David - just wanted to update ... using a pitch-shifter on +4 (since I use E-flat tuning on my guitars, it's +4, not +3, which is what it would be if using standard A/440 tuning. Personal preference.), the capo can be removed and all the chords can be played open at the nut as described in your video. For the solo and rock parts, I kick out the pitch shifter and play with the E-flat tuning. It's optional whether to play the solo with the pitch shifter in or out, that'll be individual personal choice. In E-flat, those parts of the song play nicely in B/E positions, with the rock run-up as if in E-major scale and benefitting from the open E to give it extra punch.Your vids have been a big help in co-ordinating it all onto one guitar, thanks again, nice work. Not going to bother looking at DADGAD, this sounds fine the way it is (leastways to me anyway, within the limitations of my playing :-)).
I have added a link to the "Play Along" video for Part 1. Maybe that will help. I've added the link at the top. I'm afraid I still haven't made a play along video for the operatic and rock sections, sorry :(
Thank you so much David, great job you did here! Very nice animation on the arpeggio's, clear as crystal, so happy i can add this song to my repertoire.
Really well done tutorial easy to fallow and well explained ill have it down in 3 months tops,as far as this melodie goes I think its real pretty with the Guitar vs the Piano but that s me....
El video esta excelente, solo te falto decir donde estaba el capo pero ya vi en uno de los comentarios que estaba en el 3er traste. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the hard work decomposing the various parts ! Much appreciated. Where can i find the chord charts you show in your video? I have been transcribing them by hand by copying them but the lead picking portions are too difficult to transcribe.
Thank you very much for this lesson. I think the explanation for the last sentence of the first verse is missing : "Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters".
Thnx for the lesson videos David, must've taken a while to work all this out :-). I've always wanted to learn this epic song. Will use your videos as a base to help me transpose for playing without a capo. I've found that the tuning which makes most sense (to me :-)) is standard / E-flat. Some people have mentioned that this is in DADGAD, so I'll take a look at that as well. Thnx again.
Ah, really sorry. Because I've included a recording of the original (not the best decision in retrospect), TH-cam doesn't allow syndication. This stops me from allowing content for mobile.
ok cheers anyway. a question please; you put up and played the chord progression fir the second verse but the first verse has an extra line in (carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters) what chords do you play for this please? thankyou :)
That acoustic added to the famous piano line actually makes it even better!
Without question the most well thought out tutorial of the classic beauty! I, for one, am impressed with his teaching skill!
this is the only lesson on youtube (as of may 2013) that 'explains' how to play this properly.great job :D
you're the best guitar teacher on TH-cam I must say
Great instruction and so well formatted and presented. I will need to get my old guitar out of the garage

I´d like to know the chords just after 5:51 ... there´s a gap there... anyway, thanks for the tutorial.
