This is by far the most helpful video I have watched during my time learning to drive. I struggled a fair bit with downshifting at speeds, also changing from high speed roads into lower speed roads. I was always so focused on the gear stick, thinking I’m gonna get the gear change wrong, or it would be jerky, instead of concentrating on the roads. I can’t even explain how much this has simplified things down for me thank you so much !!! Ps I actually LOVEEE your socks 😎
What I don’t get is he changed gear from 3-2 when he turned but he didn’t apply no gas ?? So can you drop a gear and just let off the clutch slowly ???
At the driving school, they said that if I'm in 4th gear, I should go to 3rd (by holding brake and clutch), leave the clutch, then step on both the clutch and brake to go to 2nd. As you approach the stop, then press the brake harder so you can stop completely. I'm not sure if I should keep stepping on the brake when in 3rd gear when leaving the clutch. Also, when I'm in 4th, there's a yield or I simply *HAVE* to go, but turn, then I should go from 4th to 3rd gear, leave clutch and brake, and make the turn. How should I do that successfully? Sometimes, the engine revs quite hard when I downshift. Apparently, a "bakkie" is a "pickup truck" in English? Now that pickup truck's engine revs when I downshift. I use the smaller cars for the driving school and test. Maybe the smaller cars' engines don't rev as much, but I'm used to the pickup truck (bakkie). I'm taking my test in 6 days. I'm afraid that if I go from 4th straight to 2nd like you did, that I will fail the test as that was not what I learned at the driving school. Please teach me some quick road stuff. I'm fine with the course or whatever you call it (parallel parking, 90° reverse thingy, 3 Point Turn, and the hill).
Hey my country driving center say must down in sequence. I didn't understand the instructor teaching. So if approaching traffic light, I am at 4th gear. I tap brake, clutch in and down shift to gear 3 and I release the brake and lift up clutch to down shift into 2 or just hold the brake all the way and down shift to 2 lift up clutch, down shift to 1 and then clutch in all the way? Or must release brake first then release clutch?
Am a girl and I really want to be a trunk driver but some people look at me as if aaaaah and am 24yrs now from Uganda but thanks a lot for the lectures
I always wanted to know if this is possible in all cars for example m going at 5th gear 100 km/h and suddenly i wanna turn soon do i keep lowering my speed to 20 km/h and change gear to 2th gear without any problems? That's possible? Cuz this is the only part i was wondering about cars m used to go gears up in order or down in order for example everytime m down shifting from 5th i go like 5 4 3 2 etc... If i can go from 5 to 2 just by getting right speed would make my life easier 😢
Yes it's possible. Beside the example you gave, there will be lots of other scenarios where you may have to slow down suddenly and won't have time to go down each gear.
is it normal when i downshift i "rev-match" if i could even call it a rev match, and for example I want to go from fifth to third, is it ok to go 5-4-3? (is it normal? does anyone do this to? help im just 14😭😭)
I will be doing a video on this shortly. It takes practice. Mostly it's because you're having to think about everything you're doing. Once you get better, some of the things you're doing are done automatically so then you can focus on other things and improve on multitasking. Hope that helps

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Also glad someone likes my socks 😅
Same here. When I change gear 3 to 2 it always shakes 😂😭
I'm going for my test today . I've been watching your videos all the way in Zimbabwe. Hope i make it
Good luck. Where did you take your test? Bulawayo or Harare?
Great lesson
coming from a high speed.. is it okay to change to neutral directly when you stop instead of gearing down in order while slowing down?
Personally, my driving instructor told me it is ok to do it with third gear if you slow down first.
Yes u can neutral won't do any damage..just don't lose control
Another great video brother, thanks alot 😊
So nice of you
Thanks

Hi. Yes you can do that. Adding the gas can make it smoother though but it's not always necessary.

Hi Pieter, thanks for your comment. Which country are you doing your test in?

What do you think about double clutching? Is it necessary?
No it's not necessary

The 2nd option is what I teach as it's easier. You can do whatever is easiest for you as long as the car is controlled
How long are driving tests in Hendon usually?
They say between 38 to 40 minutes but I’ve seen some take slightly less time than that and others slightly longer due to traffic conditions.

You can be whatever you want to be! 🙌🏾

hi, I have to appear test at Hastings please and am taking lessons with auto. Really want to pass driving test please. Tricks and tips please.
Hi, hope you passed...❤ Cheers from Nigeria
in exam can we skip the gear?????
Yes
what about signak when overtaking the cyclists
?
Not necessary unless it would benefit someone.
i really struggle with this part of driving, i think its the multitasking. any tips on how to get better at this ?
