Warthog. They designed a canon and built an airplane around it. Also notice the bleed-air slats on the leading edge of the wings close to the fuselage. Designers took excess jet engine bleed-air and funneled it over the leading edge, giving the wing more lift for free. It allows the fighter to land in shorter distances. Very handy on carriers and STOL situations.
I've witnessed 3 A-10's attacking a target. They circled above in an orbit, one would drop down and attack while the other 2 provided cover, then the next one would do the same, a rotating attack. Effective, deadly.
