Great review on this outstanding Seiko 5 watch . I own the Pepsi Sea Urchin watch. I’ve had mine over a year . Yours looks awesome on your wrist and that Strapcode bracelet is fantastic. I still have mine on the stock bracelet but did switch out the clasp. I put a Orient clasp on mine from my Triton bracelet. It gave the bracelet a more substantial feel to it . I think these older Seiko 5 watches such as this and the Land Shark 🦈 or Atlas are so much better than the newer Seiko 5 watches . The prices have definitely climbed because they have been discontinued. I paid around $200 for mine . I love mine and wear it in my rotation. To me it wears perfectly and the size and dimensions make for a very comfortable fit .

Summer has arrived pretty abruptly in South Mississippi, also, or at least the humidity has. 😓 I can kind of see why it was dubbed the sea urchin, looking at the boldness of the minute markings on the chapter ring. I don't know if that would have been my first thought, but I kind of get it.

Great review on the "Sea Urchin" my friend. I bought mine about 3 years ago from a seller in Singapore for about $120 and its been great ever since. It's my go to watch for everyday wear. Its not "Mod" i just like the simplicity of it. I also wear my 1st Gen Seiko Monster as well.

During your intro I was recalling the song by Jim Stafford - “Spiders and Snakes”. 🕷 🐍
Good review of a classic Seiko watch. Now I’m going to listen to some music from the ‘70s. 🎶 I don’t like spiders and snakes… 🎵

Lol everytime I go hiking my three desires to see are 1) deer 2) a snake and 3) a bear (we just have black bears in only some areas where I hike). Always see #1, usually #2 and so far never #3.

What is the band from strap code . Or the lug width?

The 7s36 has a couple extra jewels than the 7s26. Oh, I'm over here in Louisiana & that storm lumbered on over here and wow we sure got some rain.

Do you know why some places cite the size as 42/42.5??

I have this exact watch and I don’t wear it either. Not sure why because it’s a beautiful watch. I bought mine 2 years ago for 100.00. Nice to know I can sell it for a profit! Sea Urchin part was funny man! 😂

Where do you start with this. It doesn't hack or hand wind, no sapphire crystal, no ceramic bezel, no screw down crown, only 100mts water resistance. All the sort of things chinese homages are packed to the gills with and yet I think I'd rather have this Seiko Sea Urchin instead of all of them. It's fantasic no thrills little watch. Great review.

Beautiful watch, it looks indeed a bit like a submariner, greetings from Colombia, south America.

This is my beater watch. I bought it two years ago. It’s now at least doubled in price. I’ve read it may be discontinued but who knows. Original bracelet works fine. It’s my throw on and go watch when I can’t be bothered setting time on another watch in the collection. It’s sort of a homage but actually borrows more DNA from other Seiko divers. Mine gains 1sec a day which is insanely accurate for an entry level automatic. Gripes are the tiny crown and smooth bezel edge so harder to turn. Else its a tough watch. Need to find another beater watch as this one is now worth more! G-shock maybe.

Thanks for your comment! Love to see watches actually in use. You can’t bet against Seiko, that is for sure.

Price has quadrupled for Indians as duty to import is huge.

I bought mine years ago for $80, really didn't wear it so it stayed in a drawer, I sold it a few weeks ago for $300. Cha-ching!

What’s the point in making a dive style watch that isn’t at least 200m water resistant? I don’t get it. Why not make it useable? This is why I never have liked the Seiko 5 series.

    • @neilgutteridge6405
      @neilgutteridge6405 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Lol......its because the recreational dive limit is 40m.......these watches will easily cope with this and a lot more.

I would watch out for Bigfoot out there all alone all of a sudden rocks come flying at you. Next thing you know you’re knocked out being dragged into his cave. Then you get knocked out he breaks leg off and it starts eating it then it’s all over your dead LOL
