  • Salvinia minima, a common aquatic plant used in aquariums, growing from a small group of plants until it covers the top of the tank. An imperfect, but interesting and kind of creepy video.

Im trying to get a start going. They were given to me at Petco, but in the septic tanks they have plants doesn't do very well.
Its been two week, and life is starting to come back to them. They also have started multiplying. Hopefully i can get them into a few aquariums in time. Im a big fan of floaters for water filtration.

I just got some new salvinia and have kept them in the quarantine tank longer than usual because i was afraid their roots had hair algae on them..
I see now that theyre fine, in fact theyre great lol.. thank you for this. It is very helpful!

Interesting video. The tank is loosing a lot of water through evaporation.

I'm considering doing another video later, with a lot of changes. For one, it really should have a lid to prevent the evaporation.

Also, a weird thing is that the leaves seemed to turn lighter in color while the grow light was on. This is not an artifact of my lighting set up, it seems to be the plants actually reacting to the light levels.

@@mortrek I hadn't noticed that, but now that I know this it is very obvious! That's interesting. I wonder what exactly is going on.

Insane how you're getting mere hundreds to a few thousand views per video.
And it's not you if you didn't use to get tens or hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of views on your time-lapse videos in the past.
Like, the tropism video of a few months back, there's nothing like it on the internet, yet it only netted like 600 views in over half a year.

@@nisnber5760 Yeah, the algorithm doesn't like my channel anymore. These days, you need to release a video at least weekly or it totally ignores you. I've just resigned myself to making what I feel like making, at my own pace, and not worrying much about views.
Thank you, though. Just the fact that you paid enough attention to make such an observation is itself complimentary. Even if the videos don't get a lot of exposure, I hope the people who do watch them appreciate them.
