I didn't know a middle air bag exist. I had to replay it to see it in action. Also did you see the backseat lower side air bag, that is something I have never seen before either.
@@sptautoyou can see the middle airbag better later in the vid. I've seen rear passenger torso airbags but mostly in much more premium sedans. Passive safety was already good in hondas but they improved it in a lot ways and now they finally get great active safety systems as well. Good commitment for safety from the company👍
I've had this car for the last 6 months (same colour even). I've been very happy with it so far and seeing this video gives me peace of mind for when my daughter borrows occassionally. I just wish there was a 360 degree reverse camera but they keep that for the Accord.

I know you are perfect driver never have such moment in your life but that doesnt make you safe from others.
more deformation doesn't equal bad, deformation is to absorb the impact same reason why front and back parts of the cars are accordeons, to ABSORB the impact, if the cars didn't BEND at all, your BODY would feel de impact and absorb the G FORCE of it

The results were quite positive, highest entrance speed documented was 77 km/h (which is almost record setting in the category, because they recently changed the asphalt top layer and since then they typically register a reduced top entrance speed by about 4 km/h. So for the civic on the old asphalt that would mean a top entrance speed of about 81 km/h. The record is still in the hands of the Ford Focus with 83 km/h on the old asphalt.

@@yea-yeaJust adult accupant. We ordered Mazda CX 30 and then cancelled it and ordered Honda Civic. All together is Mazda better dor one point. But mazda test is 4 years old so. Best decision and we don’t regret it.
@@McLarenMercedes Literally millions as SUVs and crossovers have been the most popular cars in probably the last decade or so. Which creates the problem of normal cars not being tested for collisions against SUVs that have taller bumpers(points of impact) and are way heavier.
fragile? cars deform on purpose, theyre called crumple zones. if you got into a crash in a car with that doesnt deform or crumple the amount of g-forces youll receive would be unimaginable since you absorb all the forces from the crash instead of the car. civic did pretty good too lol
In older cars - you either had an undamaged car with a dead occupant or a car that folded on them like a tin can ..now the car folds slowly leaving the occupants to walk away

But, the lateral impact (side pole, driver's side door) seemed to be a little rough.
Seems like Mazda 3 is better at it. It scores Good in the new IIHS side test, while Civic gets acceptable.

I was curious to see the new front passenger airbag in more detail, but we didn’t really get that.
I believe Euro NCAP will start assessing risk of brain damage (where Honda’s new passenger airbag could come in useful) only in 2023

Mazda3 scored good in side/pole impact, while the rest of the compacts were acceptable (including this civic) and poor for the Kia Forte
