After about 15 to 20 years of hard work, I did get there (success). I really achieved very substantial things in my career, what surprised me was that I encountered a form of hostility that I hadn't expected. Some call it "reverse snobbism" or just envy or jealousy.
It was a shock. I am accustomed to that now and I have learned to keep most of my work accomplishments "under wraps" as it were. I don't disclose my professional standing, my bank account, or my income to the general public. You have to know me for quite a while before you learn these facts.
I share bits of my personal life with everyone when it's appropriate and examine what they do. If they show signs of toxicity I immediately cut them off. And the few people who respond well I keep getting personal with them. That's how I discover real friends.
Yes a good test to see if you are on the same level or not. If not - move on - they're not your people.
That's what I'm working on now with myself.
So if all of us were in a room together & if we all didnt talk to each other except small talk about the weather for example, & we all left the building & returned to our littles homes. What's the point of the meeting in the first place.?
Might as well stay home - talk to myself & save my money.😂
When I go out I always talk & I always love listening to other people's stories & opinions. I learn alot....on how not to live😅

@@return2u Yes, I don't talk to my sister. She's irredeemably toxic. But I didn't cut her off just like that. We tried to reconcile a few times before I finally kicked her out of my life.

There is a saying in law... "if you want a friend in law get a dog." Basically it is a warning that only a tiny handful of people will genuinely care about you, so don't expect it and get your heart broken or worse.

Was never one to talk about my life to coworkers, acquaintances. But then I read a book about how being aloof can be a way to control and manipulate for energy, and I actually felt bad and started trying to be revealing like everyone else. Big mistake. Go with your instincts.
I worked with a lady who didn't discuss anything about her private life. Intrigued by this her fellow employees made it a game to extract some type of information from her. Finally everyone quit trying to find out her story. She ended up being the most well respected co worker.

If I make the mistake of telling people something good that I've achieved, even the smallest thing like going for a ride with my car, they become so jealous of me and keep critisizing me. Trust me it's the same in every country .Having grown up without having a family I would always tell a certain person when anything nice happened untill they told me it sounded like I was bragging .It made me stop in my tracks because I'd never meant it that way and had always thought he would share his good luck with me but I had obviously got it wrong and have since kept things to myself

I am always happy when 'my students' (those who I could help and appreciated my help, and believed that my Happiness was being helpful and helping them to belive in themseves) stop me to tell me how well they did or are doing, seeing their happiness makes me Happy. Still I have also noticed, that, sometimes, this does Not work both ways and people who tell me that they are my friends, are not , I can see they Do Not Help me, or talk to others bad about me and my Happiness makes them Unhappy. I suppose the trick is in finding out as quick as possible in which of these two categories do the people you know fall😉 and I also have a quote which helped me to feel better. Just now a thought hit me. I have been going through some involuntary, SERIOUS life situations. I have been stressed, sad, but the thought that hit is replace the negative thoughts and feelings of hopelessness into "this is just a weird phase I am going through that will make me better in the long run."

Instead of this, I want to focus on learning from truly, deep loving people who have become Saints. One of them is St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Called the little flower. Her device was to do little things with greatness. She truly loved Jesus. Learning about her has helped me immensely. Praying in general is the most powerful thing that can help us in all our struggles. God is omnipotent. Never doubt. To listen to quotes like this will never truly deepen our faith in Our Lord, He whom is always trying to reach out to us to help us. I’ve never in my life been helped like I’ve been helped from God. Thanks to Him I got a job, I got up on my feet after a severe fall, I could forgive and find so much peace. Things are not easier as a Christian, but knowing God is with us always, makes us not be afraid. Instead, loving deeply. Look up a song named “Be not Afraid”, it is beautiful and encouraging. I think of my eldest daughter every day,we're estranged from each other, i keep thinking of her while i walk to work,i'm tormented by the lack of knowing if i will ever meet her again and what would i say. I know for my mental health i must let thoughts of her go but the thoughts always resurface.
It always takes effort on our part to be nice to people who have hurt us or insulted us or humiliated us , but after making a genuine effort to be nice to them again ,we feel much better than if we let things get worse by getting angry & moody ... is what I have learned in Life !

I love my daughter, we are estranged. She sends me toxic emails, 2 or 3 daily, often more, I never respond bc that would add fuel to the fire. I have tried in the past, but I have any interaction with her, it's terrible situation and I feel she is dangerous, so I stay away, this what I have learned is the best thing to do, certainly for me and I think it must be for her
Let her know your door will always be open and in the meantime focus on yourself to became the best person and the happiest you can be. Make this your goal and let her be.
If it is meant to be, she might come back to you one day. And then you want her to see you in your best health and happienes you can be.
Be kind to yourself and think about the things you did right and well for her.
