    This is a fantastic and informative video. I just moved to the southern Florida area about a week ago and we have 8 very mature coconut palms. I’ve been obsessed with harvesting them. Still learning. Where do you get your harvesting tools? I think the ones I orders off amazon are a little cheap. They don’t feel super strong.

    WOW...I do bonsai and I just started creating bonsai from coconuts. Your video is great. I have two trees and am growing coconuts from scratch. Do you cut off the top to speed up germination or do anything other than put them on the ground? Where do you live? I live in Nokomis, Florida.

    That's awesome! I want to start a food forest and would love to be able to grow coconuts. I'm in MS zone 8 ... will coconut grow here?

      Thomas Herrington sorry, but you're well out of the coconut zone. I'm on the edge myself.

      @@smokeydabeecharlescoleman8365 coconuts don’t like freezing temperatures so 10a and some protected areas of 9b. Anything below 30 degrees damages them

    Which varieties of coconuts are sweet and which are not. What do people do with those that aren't sweet?

    How long do you have to wait before eating the sprouted coconut. (What size stem should it have)

    • @WhatsRipening
      @WhatsRipening  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LegacyEvoAce if you shake it and don't hear a sloshing sound, it's probably mature enough.

      6 months or so. Just leave it on the ground outside. I live in FL so the heat dries the husk out while it sprouts

      They will "grow" in SoCal in 10a/b (Sunset 24-25) areas but you will never get any edible nuts off them.
