You should have a look at the Japanese method of growing their very expensive grapes, I think they have a really interesting and successful method on growing big grapes, maybe you can shine some insights on to us about it.

My question is, Do you top young vertical grapevine to prevent them from growing too tall? and do you follow the pencil size rule in topping your young grapevine? What is the ‘’Monster Vine’’ called? sounds v productive. Also you say Grape roots go down a few metres when mature. So am wondering if I could grow a mature Vine in a v big tub/pot like dwarf fruit trees are grown in?, cos although they are big pots/tubs they are nowhere near 3 metres deep?

Catching up with older videos that I have missed. I had an enormous and productive grape vine on my old allotment in the Rhondda, the vine ran some 30M and was covered in grapes. I have now bought an edible grape variety and planted it in my garden. Having learned the correct methods for looking after grape vines and seeing the state of my other, 'neglected for years vine', I am interested in what you think. Do you for example peel back all of the fibrous matter on the stems, disbud, shank etc. or just leave the vine to it and prune for structure and fruit quality? The German rule of thumb for grapes is leave at least 3 leaves per bunch in order to suffice for photosynthesis and thus sweetness.

Hi John to my knowledge apple seeds need to be subjected to a cold spell in order to germinate of course if they were in cold storage this may count. Maybe do a bit of research before so you are more likely to get a decent result. You also know that Apple seeds are unlikely to produce trees true to type. You may however raise your own variety! I've just ordered a crimson seedless grape vine it comes in a 3ltr pot. This is my first plant... how often do I water it. Everyday? I'm scared to over water /underwater.. do I need to plant it right away or keep it in the pot.. I am clueless! Help? 😆
I'm new to growing grapes and have an unknown verity taking over one of my green house's 😀. I planted it last spring (2017) when should I expect fruit? Also I love the look of the lake mont seedless where did you get it ?
Hi Jordan. Grapes fruit on the previous years growth. When the vine puts out growth you can then hopefully expect a crop on this growth the following year. Keep leaving the growth from the previous year on and this should compound year on year. Grapevines can get unruly rather quickly though so once the vine is at your desired size prune in Winter.
Hi some of the leaves have started to brown on the edges I have it in a pot, I give it water like every 2 days is it possible to over water and would this cause the browning?
@Home Gardens it would be best to cut of any dead leaves because they are dying and they use up a lot of strength to recover causing a delay in the ripening process which could make the grapes go too squishy and then eventually rot and then die and dead fruit attracts a lot of fruit flies ants, bugs etc and other unwanted pest such as birds

I have a question I bought black seedless grapes, at present I am renting but looking forward to get our own place inn next couple of years.. do u advice that shall I re pot my plant in bigger pot.. at present it’s 4 ft tall so I am guessing no grapes for next two to three years..

Potentially yes did the vine put out much growth? The year after next you can expect a much better crop. I will be taking many cuttings, grapes root readily. One day I would like a vineyard. What variety do you have ?

At first I thought the first grapevine was a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Zinfandel. There are other red wine grape with similar leaves. It can also be a Pinot Noir . . .

It's unlikely to my knowledge as I don't think this variety is grown commercially here. Could you plant your own vine or obtain a cutting from a vine in the dormant season?
I think this is a hard variety to get hold of outside the US. I imagine trying to get hold of a cutting during the dormant season could be a good way to go.
Yes very good very healthy even the seeds a good source of vitamins and minerals the seeds contains vitamins b17 also eating leave in a stew with other veg they do it in Africa and Turkey. Just eat them
There are several factors in how to grow grapes on an arbor. One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the Grape grower folio (check it out on google) without a doubt the most helpful guide i've heard of. look at all the interesting info.
This was a purchased vine. Sadly it's no longer in existence (not my decision) long story and such a shame. I do however have grapes videos on my playlist where I show cuttings taken from this vine. Thanks for viewing.

Hi. I would prune it into a good structure then leave it to it. Do this in December/January

If you live in Southern Italy you don't have to buy grape vines that will only grow in northern Europe.
