It is so sad that when music like this and country music as it was is a thing of the past. Country music as it is today is more light rock than anything else. So true, you don’t know what you have till it’s gone and real country music is history.
My folks watched this episode the night it aired, and early the next morning I was born. The real irony is my mom looked at lot like her. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)
@@davidtipsword894 Thank you David for your reaction. I believe what you say but Anita is for me the best ever. Greetings from Holland, the Netherlands!
i saw johnny cash in 82 i think, anita was singing backup for him, as she sang her first note, the whole audiance gasped in amazement at the shear beauty of her voice,at that time i had no idea who she was(wasn.t a country fan)everybody around us was whispering "who the hell is that"she LITTERALY SOUNDED LIKE AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN,everyone on stage noiced that the whole audiance was staring at the backup singer,at the end of the song june said"this is my sister anita"she was beaming with pride.
AMAZING! Anita was so pretty and had a voice like the best Angel in heaven she truly was a star that didn't get what she should have she is better then anyone today or then ! RIP Anita
Anita's singing technique was really amazing, not to mention her beautiful voice. It was and is truly beyond compare even to the present standard measure. Listeners would be brought and swayed into her in depth feeling melody, felt touched and sympathy by every single words of the lyrics uttered, as if that she was narrating her own true experience. Stunning.
Anita had a beautiful voice, and I am honored to have her autograph - and her mother's - Mother Maybelle Carter's. Thanks for sharing. God bless, Brother Charlie
i saw johnny and june in 1983 or 4 when anita was singing back up for them as soon as she opened her mouth turned and stared at her he LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE BIGGEST STAR IN COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY. i dont think she bothered trying would have been too easy
These comments of Anita not getting her due as a great vocalist speaks volumes of why this woman is not in the Country Hall Of Fame. She had a few top 10 country hits mostly duets with Hank Snow & Waylon Jennings but as a solo artist she only got as high as #41 with Tulsa County. She is perhaps one of the few great singers in Country Music that never got enough praise for her contributions to the industry and she was one of Country Music's most famous dynasty's The Carter Family.
Max Brand She said in several interviews that she didn’t want to. She just enjoyed singing with the family and didn’t want the stress of being a solo singer. I agree with you though, she should be in Country Hall Of Fame. The entire Carter family does.
Her beauty was just stunning but her voice was even more so. On this song I feel like I am feeling every bit of what she is feeling. That is the way it always should be done.
When it comes right down to it, there were/are only two perfect female voices in music. Anita Carter and Connie Smith. Both recorded during the peak of technical quality. Thank God we have available such a large, high-quality collection of their works.
AAA Absolutely Angelic, Anita! I've loved this music since I was a little girl (I'm retired now) & love singing it still today, thanks to beautiful, pure voices like Anita & the Carter Family. There's never enough praise for them. Such inspiration ... Thank u God bless!!
Beautiful Anita! One name says it all! One can look at her and readily see she is B-e-a-u-ti-ful! However, to watch her, and listen to her sing is such a blessing! The first time I noticed her is when I saw her sing 'Were you there'? The moment she opens those pipes to blow you immediately realize you are listening to soul. In this song I am totally blown away by her beautiful voice. Praise God she was heavenly sent.
WOW! Powerhouse performance, best I've ever heard of this song. She was like a vocal Babe Ruth, knocking it out of the park! BOOM! I've sat here listening to it, over and over!
She as a beautiful lady, & one of my all time favourite female singer's, they were the fore runners of original old time country going back at least 6 generations...
I dedicate this song to my one and only unforgettable boyfriend in the world that was taken forcely from me bless him and hoping to get well soon till we met again thank you anita carter for singing for me and him loveit
Having watched this video again and again and again and again , I don't believe there are any words in the dictionary that are adequate enough to describe just how good Anita Carter was. There are not many singers that can put a lump in in your throat and a tear in the eye.
I surely agree with you. I have found and downloaded every one of her songs. Some are just so purely beautiful they can bring tears to my eyes and goose bumps. She was, throughout her adult life, as beautiful as her voice too. I didn't know what had eventually taken her life, and it was heartbreaking to learn. Thanks for sharing your similar thoughts!
Miss you Hubby, gone but you will never be forgotton, we remembered Anita Carter as we danced in the night to her music just the two of us at home, her music kept our love alive and we will forever remember the feelings her songs gave to us.
@carlenecarter52 In all the cool old Opry stuff on you tube she has the sweetest young voice. So wonderful to see that young innocence. Here she is a woman for sure. What a magnificent artist.
Just a great singer and lovely lady...always in the shadow of the Carter Family....must have been a good reason she never had a huge career of her own.....maybe the family fame was enough for her?
She was like her "aunt" actually a cousin Sarah Carter who was in the original Carter Family group. Neither were interested in a big career.Anita was performing on stage at the age of 4. She also had rheumatoid arthritis and the drugs she took for it took a tremendous toll on her body.
+Richard Jones she gave an interview back in 80's as was asked this question. She replied that she enjoyed performing, and doing some recording on her own and with others, but she only really loved singing with her family. Beautiful voice, beautiful lady; inside and out.
She has one of the most pure voices I have ever heard and I’m 68 and heard a lot
No silly warbling and vocal gymnastics, just crystal clear singing as good as it gets, plus natural beauty. What more could you ask for?
It is so sad that when music like this and country music as it was is a thing of the past. Country music as it is today is more light rock than anything else. So true, you don’t know what you have till it’s gone and real country music is history.
Listening to this in Ireland in 2022...probably the most natural and beautiful singing voice ever
My folks watched this episode the night it aired, and early the next morning I was born. The real irony is my mom looked at lot like her. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)
No gimmicks, she just goes out there and sings her heart out. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
Anita is not only beautiful, her voice is that of a angel.
Voice of an angel.

Jonny cash thought she was best in country music… better than Patsy Cline.
Stunning and beautiful how lucky we have the privilege to be able to listen to her
Stunning, fabulous, superb, awesome, beautiful.
yes she passed on in 1999 when I was 5 and her sister Helen in 98 and June in 2003..They all had talent but Anita the best and still is in my book

I fell in love with her voice 60 years ago. Sounds of an angelic soul.

She had the best voice of all the Carter girls - and the best looks too!
