Maybe it's because I was enthralled with college football in the way only a kid that age could be, but for me, 1973 was the pinnacle of college football. Something like 6 or seven undefeated teams going into rivalry week. I was these guys almost everyday after school and on the weekends in the backyard.

That’s Big Al Meltzer with the voice over. Philadelphia sports anchor for years.

Dave Casper, Lynn Swann, Lucious and Lee Roy Selmon, Randy Gradishar, who deserves HoF honors, Rod Shoate, Matt Blair, and John Dutton all had distinguished pro careers.

Is John Cappaletti (sorry, can't spell his last name right), still alive?

Still around thankfully. I believe he long ago settled into business life in California. He's returned to PSU often over the years but I'm not sure if he made it back for the '73 team's 50th anniversary celebration earlier this season when they played Delaware. His #22 is the only football number retired by Penn State.
