Morning Tony, really enjoyed the opening running, its good watching such powerful engines running all those people home for Christmas. The glazing is coming along nicely thats a good steady hand you've got. I must say the next project of the bus station does sound exciting. But let's get back to Tyne dock, that's a good tip to remove ghosting from the glazing. But last of all the hush hush with that rake of coaches looks impressive, it looks very slick. I'm looking forward to starting the new calendar in the new year, I've had a look and you've got some great photos on there, so anyone who wants one should get on and enjoy Tony North Eastern every day all year. We've got all the family at ours over the Christmas and new year period so its going to be busy. You and Laura have a wonderful time, hope you find the time to relax, take care both love Eddy and Anne xxxx
Good morning Eddy & Anne. thank you very much for all your support throughout 2024. and thank you for sharing your memories and updates with your own model railway. stay safe my friends. all the best Mr & Mrs T.
Parallel lines and now strips, you definitely deserve a Newcastle brown ale, the clock is ticking though. Those coaches are stunning, have a great weekend Tony.
Hello Mr Rock n Roll. Its going to be close. to finish this before the new year. but Rome was not built in a day. oh plenty of beer's are planed for the festivities. cheer's for now Tony.
Thanks for this, Tony, incidentally your comment about the station being too short for a Nine coach rake... Well remembering back to when I was a kid in the 1950's - "The Cornishman" a crack GWR Wolverhampton to Penzance express used to call at Bilston Central just before 9am... Bilston station was not small but the loco (normally a Castle) and two or three of the coaches always over-ran the platform and I believe that the rear end of the train didn't reached the station - these were the days of fourteen or more coach trains.. The Cornishman didn't pull up twice as I believe that long trains did in some places. I'll always remember the site of the castle waiting on the bridge on the Birmingham side of Bilston station - it was truly a magnificent sight - gleeming green and gold in the morning sunlight... So do the same! Run your full nine-coach rake and let both end's over hang the platrorm... The GWR and British Railways did this so there's no reason why you shouldn't!
Yeah, I remember not hearing the "last four coaches for Whitchurch" and having to jump down onto the ballast on the embankment and trudge embarassingly, dragging a huge suitcase back to the platform on the way back to boarding school once, past the scowling station master. Some trains from Crewe were just way too long for the old Whitchurch Cambrian Railways built platforms.
Thank You Ken & John. your comments have made onto the community page. even now some trains do still have the extra coaches. please exit from car 1-4 as hear from the tonoi's great stuff i love reading these. thanks guys all the best Tony.
Dear Tony, in another video I saw modellers using UV activated glue pointing out that it hardens before any ghosting is taking place. I understand it works best with one side of the surface being transparent. Well, may work with bars on glazing. I shall check next time I'll start a project. I used some already once or twice but wasn't to shure if its really working (might be the frequency of my UV-torch doesn't perfectly match the bonding frequency of the glue. Other than that: Beautiful station, fine trains, your video is always a pleasure for ma. Thanks Tony. Greetings Albrecht
Hi tony I hope you and your family are well Ive been subscribered to your channel from nearly the start.. This has been a great build a few good tips and well explained with a bit of fun. Thank you for the kind words and shout out The coronation coaches are fantastic looks splendidly on your layout Keep safe ARP
Hello Adi my friend. blimey the year is nearly over i dont now where the time has gone. all i know its been a pleasure watching your videos and sharing are thoughts and ideas in the comments page. take care. cheer's for now Tony.
Thanks for another year of inspirational model making and entertainment Tony. Best Wishes to you and your family for Christmas. Kind regards Peter from downunder.
Dear Tony, love the way you interspersed the new development of the bus depot next to the South Shields station!!! Very funny comment on the channel not being full male dominance. The old T charmer (I just guess) misses T might say. Beautiful how you’ve added the louvres between the upper middle canopy and the lower around the staircase entrance. Amazing how you’re doing the canopy glazing. Really stands out this way! Great tips on getting those strips to stick on the acetate without ghosting the glass!! Very much looking forward to the final paint and weathering job on the canopy roofing and the upper roof. Such a great project, and a very creative and inventive way to depict a more realistic representation of the Tyne Dock station!! Absolutely fabulous.
Hello Barry. i do wish we could have more female viewers, otherwise they will become railway widows, it would nice to get the ladies involved. The ghosting you have to be quick with the thinners or white spirit to wipe of the ghosting, otherwise it will permanently stain the glazing. until next time all the best Tony.
Thanks so much! Anthony. i think its on the cards for finishing this station for the new year. but we shall see. take care my friend. all the best Tony.
Hi Tony, your patience will pay off in the end mate, because the end result will look magnificent. I actually don’t mind doing some of those long laborious tasks, I stick some of my music on and just get lost in my own thoughts, it can be a nice way to spend a couple of hours. As for the British Enterprise Hush Hush coupled up with those Coronation coaches that makes a very special looking train and really does look great as it trundles round your lovely layout. Looking forward to more mate, cheers for now, John
Good morning John. Absolutely these long jobs do take their time but in the end is what makes any buildings come to life. another few hours yesterday brought platform ones side to almost completion. The hush hush is the right era for the coronation. but i think A4 will look the bizz. Keep an eye out for the postman my friend. cheer's for now Tony.
Morning Tony, you are certainly a man with patience to create those window panes. And I wondered how many ended up being super glued to your fingers lol. Seasons greetings to you and yours my friend.
Hello Steve. How many have been stuck to my fingers great question. i have been so lucky so far. i have only struggled with one. as i had put too much glue on the strip. apart from that its take a few to get the knack of what i am doing. season greetings all the best Tony.
4 hours of gluing on strips shows dedication to modeling. You do like your Thompson Teak Coaches and in Marron. Poor old Greasley hasn't stopped turning in his grave since the man he trained took over as Chief Engineer of the LNER. The Coronation set of coaches is really nice, and they should be at that price. I will pretend I did not see the alphabetical order as it is nearly Christmas. I will have to buy a calendar in the new year if any are left because of financial constraints and a late invitation to a Christmas Dinner. Martin. (Thailand)
Good morning Martin, If you are serious about a Calendar i will put one aside for you my friend. as i still have a few left. I agree Cheif Engineer Gresley will be turning in his grave. Thompson made some unforgivable design changes to some of the most famous locos. Thank again for commenting all the very best Tony.
Good evening Tony lovely video once again I'm a bit worried here as its Christmas next Wednesday here. Oh and thank you for your parcel but you shouldn't have. Any way my friend you and Laura have yourselves a merry Christmas and an happy new year 🎉🎉. Stephen
The station roof is looking very good, good luck with those little strips on it looks quite tedious to be honest, but will be nice when you have finished it, looking forward to seeing your next installment, all the best to you and your family for Christmas and New year.
Hello Malcom. i did ride on the pullman observation car, once buts not as sleek as the L.N.E.R. one. i think there is only one in preservation. but its in private ownership. take care my friend. all the best Tony.
Hi Chris. I have plenty of patience its the time scale for trying to finish the building of before 2025. but it takes as long at it takes...take care all the best Tony.
Another blinder of a first class tip Tony regarding the `ghosting` on the glass panels. Looks like this build could take you right to the wire for the big day. A very Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025 to you and Mrs T Tony, take care and stay safe regards Barry. 🎄☃🥃
Good morning Barry. This plastic packaging is really tough for glues to stick to. as i did try contact adhesive. within a day the strips were popping off. all the very best to your and your family. merry christmas. a christmas video will be out shortly cheer's Tony.
Hi Tony, have to admire your perseverance fitting the glazing bars! I avoid superglue anywhere near glazing now because of the fogging issue. I have instead been using Evostick Serious and had no fogging issues since. A little longer to dry but gives a good bond.
Hello Steve. thank you for commenting. i do use Glue n Glaze for internal windows as the windows can be a lot smaller and are fitted in a recess. but the temperature of the loft requires a stronger glue especially as the strips are stuck directly on top of the glazing. which the strips can be prone to popping off. I can see why you don't use Super glue. but by having some thinners close by i don't have the ghosting issue. thank you for commenting. lots of ideas and thoughts there. many thanks again, cheer's for now Tony.
Hi Tony Looking forward to the next project the bus garage There were two bus garages in South shields a Northern general and a Corporation one the Chichester one was the corporation one with trolley buses and the Northern one was further up the road from the station Loved the video, You do have the Patience of a saint! If I used super glue to do that I would have little strips of glazing stuck every where but where I wanted them . Loved the running session I think seven coaches is enough Have a happy Christmas Tony and mrs T
Hello James. thank you for commenting. its the Chichester one i would like to build as i use to walk past everyday when i was a kid to go school. which was Laygate lane Juniors. there are still some good photos around of that bus depot. there has been very few changes over the years. so i am really looking forward to building that with the cobbled entrance. i don't have any trolly buses. thats not a problem its the building i am interesting. roll on 2025 January. stay safe all the best Tony.
great vlog on the builds on channel nice wor keep up the great builds you do and merry xmas to you layout is looking great keep up the great build you do thanks lee
I hope you don't find panes to be a big pain in the arse. We are enjoying the process on Tyne Dock Station rebuild. My wife, Janet is among one of your female viewers. Happy Christmas to you Tony and Laura.🎄🎁. Bill and Janet from California
Hello Bill & Janet. its amazing that 4% of viewers are ladies. as it use to be only 1% a few years back. its great that ladies find these builds fascinating. for me its just another day at the office. well loft....take care for now Best wishes from Tony & Laura.....
Hi Tony. I received my T.N.E. Calendar !! It's very nice and well worth the price, I will place it in my hobby room. Wishing You a Happy Xmas. And wishing You and Lora all the best for 2025. Best Regards mate. From Alan in Dover :o)
Awesome! Thank you! Alan, i do get worried about the postal service. i am glad that you have received the calendar in one piece. I am looking forward to what 2025 brings us. hopefully our layouts finished. now that would be worth celebrating. take care my friend. Tony & Laura.
You have some stunning rolling stock Tony, nothing less than your layout deserves. Blimey - that’s some dashed intricate work on that canopy glazing 😳. Maybe the station will be ready for a yuletide opening?
An excellent video Tony, I expect there would be a few complaints if passengers were unable to smoke on the station. Even Dafeny Bragger would probably give her two pennyworths. As it has been a bit chilly, the nice ladies from Tyne Dock W I thought you might like the following recipe for Tripe and Onions, and would be willing to leave a plate of the said dish on the table in the station waiting room for you. Ingredients
2 lb 900g dressed tripe 1 lb 450g sliced onions 1 oz 28g butter 1 oz 28g flour 300 ml ½ pint each of milk and water 2 tablespoons grated cheese Seasoning Conversions Click here for a cooking conversions chart Instructions
Cut the tripe into bit-size pieces and put in a saucepan with the onions, milk and water Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer gently for 1 hour or until the tripe is tender Mix the butter and flour together and, when all the flour is absorbed by the butter, break into small pieces and put into the tripe, stirring all the time until the liquid thickens Transfer the mix to an ovenproof dish and bake in a hot oven for 30 minutes Sprinkle cheese over the top and brown this, either in the oven, or under a hot grill. I dare say Roy The Roofer and his friends would be more than happy to sample this as well, as I am sure it must be a bit cold for you all getting the roof canopy finished in time for Christmas. I think the nice ladies from the WI will be coming to the station, and might be singing a few carols, with the Vicker soon, as well, and wrapped up nice and warm in sensible tweeds.
