Hello everyone, this is part two to my old video at Larry's Truck and Electric. This was shot in late December 2019. I was very surprised by how much things have changed there since last year. This is in Mcdonald, Ohio. LTEX has another facility in Lordstown. Again, this isn't trespassing, and the drone is much higher in the air than it looks in the footage. Thanks for watching.

These engines, like any other mechanical device, eventually wear out. Remember, these were all hard-working vehicles. LTEX supplies re-furbed units, and uses parts from the old iron to make the refurbs. Responsible re-cycling gets done, too. Larry's Truck Electric, founded by the now deceased dad, Larry, God rest his soul, always remained true to the Mahoning Valley. The brothers save and sell. It's a business and a passion. Enjoy the views and the memories.

This is so sad to me, all these locomotives just rotting away instead of going to good use. They look like they still have a lot of life left but there they sit, waiting to be scrapped

Some will be reused as whole engines. I saw some recent lease marks on a few (LTEX, this facility).
Other than that, their parts will help other units live on.
Yes, sad, though. Esp. when that single-stack train whizzed by and the camera transitioned to the old guys "watching" the younger whipper-snapper do its stuff.

If you think about it, even though it’s sad that these locomotives are out of service, at least they’re in a place and area where they can be recycled, unlike abandoned finds that are no where near civilization and they can never see the day of being reused or repurposed. Here in this facility, if they are torn apart and parted out and sent wherever in pieces, at least it’s doing a good thing to the environment plus recycling and scrap metal does pay out quite a lot. So in my opinion it’s a good thing this video showcases, which is these abandoned locomotives are in good hands of people who have a job to repurpose and recycle.

Great video & drone control. Loved the sad music, too.
I just realized you use a DJI Spark. Such good results from an entry level drone. I guess size doesn't matter much in this area either.

At one point in time, many of these units lead some mighty fine and long powerful trains! At one point in time, many of these engines skirted past much older equipment rusting away!
One day in the future, those GEVOs will eventually share those very same places where these engines rust!

To all you cryers these engines do and are having the ability to be sold, just nobody has picked them up. Id just express interest in one, list a amount of money and if you get it boom. You technically "saved" the locomotive from scrap. But do keep in mind most are parted out.

I counted 8 or 9 f40s (maybe 6 or 7. I wasn’t sure if the wisconsin central cowl units were fp45s) still existent in “defininetly going to be scrapped” condition plus 1 already scrapped f40. Additionally, I noted 4 rare BN E9s! Sad to see them like that! Commuter veterans!

    • @Amigafur
      @Amigafur ปีที่แล้ว

They're actually F45s, 2 out the 4 survivors. They've been there since 2007 so they might be saved, who knows

  •  ปีที่แล้ว

In another video there was a very cool New York Central F7 parked there and still wearing it's NYC colors. It would be a real shame if that got scrapped. You see less and less of the Santa Fe blue bonnets too... I hope some of these get saved.

Frames get cracks after years of hard use. Electrical wiring begins to decay with age. Components just wear out and need to be replaced, and eventually replacing the entire locomotive begins to become cheaper than fixing up and replacing all of the old worn-out parts on the older locomotives, that's why locomotives have a finite lifespan. However, smaller switching locomotive for yard work are not being made anymore, so old ones should be rebuilt where ever possible.

Oh if I were a billionaire!...I'd buy that facility and retool it to rebuild and restore most if not all of that history the F-40ph should be a national treasure and marked a endangered species like the bald eagle!...that locomotive was as beautiful as she was essential to American railroad history!...her along with her E-series cousins and F-45 brethren!...I'd partner with MCU and repower those chop noses, high hoods, MP's,SW's, Geeps and SD's back to glory with changing their appearances...Alco's too if they haven't butchered them all!

To me it sends me that's all those locomotives are being torn apart and scrapped just for money just by the companies that make profit out of torn up locomotives where they can be saved rebuilt as much as they can to send to museums railroad museums that history is being destroyed one by one why I don't know you can see it for yourself they're still good they're still good to use if they rebuilt the motors make them almost brand new if you're listening to this if you're looking at this please with everyone out there save the locomotives if they're still good out there you see try to catch one of them and send it to the museums where they can be saved help us save them 😢😢😢 !!!!!
