Thank you Scoop. It's the culture, the language and the application of shows and movies to real life that distort the way we treat and view women in society.
It starts with us men nowhere else. The ego that pollutes our minds into believing we have control/own or even decide on how to manipulate our way into a womens space and take advantage.
It's not just the extreme physical assault, it's the micro aggressions and behaviour. It starts with changed behaviour and hopefully justice to those who have survived and lost to such mistreatment.

This was my first time watching a full show, I've just been seeing parts of the past shows on sa.clout but I must say we really need more shows like this because such things are taken lightly in this day and age. Like Cassper once said "people like acting immune to the b.s of the world until it happens to you" and we really have to find ways to avoid such. But much love for the show 🙏🏼❤

I think another way for men to take responsibility in this GBV mess we are in is to really understand that women are fearful have their guard up around men. Let's not come with the approach of "I am a good guy, a decent guy" so I get a pass. The reason I say this is that, there was a time I spoke to some girl I liked, she walked me to my car and as I was leaving I reached in for a hug. There was a brief hesitation on her part and we hugged nonetheless. When I thought back, I realised that perhaps me reaching in for a hug unnerved her. Something I thought was harmless but to her came across as uncomfortable. I then learned no matter how much you think something is harmless, or innocent, ALWAYS ask. "Do you mind if I hug you goodbye?" "Do you mind if I hold your hand?". It may seem like something small, but it does wonders in teaching you about CONSENT and how never to take it for granted. Those are my 2 cents.
EDIT: And if she says NO to your request. Your job is to take it gracefully, keep that same energy that made her comfortable enough to take a walk with you in the first place.

    Thobela 🙏🏾
Concerning the topic of Gender-based Violence, one of the ways PopCast can contribute to the fight is by not amplifying known-abusers that have been outed. Despite their public decree on how much they have changed, as they are still within the industry and going about it unscathed, it makes it uncomfortable as a survivor to have to hear about the likes of okmalumkoolkat and sjava. I am an avid follower of the show and find it incredibly irresponsible that it has gone on so many times. Keeping their names off the show will indicate that not only are you taking action as figureheads in your respective positions in the industry, but also that you are NOT complacent when it comes to your peers.
As much as I appreciate the conversation, it is important to note that this contradicts the way the show has been run until it was deemed necessary to engage this topic again.
To Ms. Cosmo, thank you for pointing out in conversation where men get it wrong. For holding your own and managing to have this conversation without another woman present, you did well.
To Scoop, your process of unlearning the norm that is hip hop in berating women will do you good in shutting out the noise that would keep most people ignorant. To Vigi, now that you have apologized for your place, it is time to do the work and use your position to halt bags that have enabled those men from having a platform and the opportunity to continue their abuse. To Speedy, listen to your elders and follow suit on Scoop and Vigi’s line of thinking in this regard.
Cussing out abusers helps no one as in itself is an act of violence. It is of no help to any survivor or victim. Also, gentlemen you saying to Ms. Cosmo that you would have handled it does not take away the experience of the assault itself, especially in the life and times of a bo ‘grootman.’ That is part of the reason women would rather keep that wall up because it should not happen at ALL.
Furthermore, the video shared about the kid who shot his father should be one to ponder concerning violence and aggression in the boy child. This is a topic that has not been addressed because instead of unpacking such issues, we would rather put our money on a boxing match between two grown men who are visibly hurt and are open to displaying that pain through violence - the male species’ last resort when confronted with deep-rooted issues.
These are the things to reconsider and reflect on today, going forward as we are the Youth that will bring real change in the way we have approached issues as they were modeled before us.
Speak to your boychild about his feelings.
Get an understanding as to why he is hurting.
Speak to him with the love and kindness that you would show a girl child, take the bass out of your voice and be gentle.
We are living in times that defeat the ‘women are more emotional > men are logical’ concept: now, we reap the behavior sown by the difference in HOW we approach boys and girls, more now than ever because those boys have grown into men that resent women and would much rather lash out when there are better ways to communicate. But how can they communicate effectively when they have never been shown kindness and love in the place of promoting violence?
    Yours sincerely,
Amogelang Machuene wa ga Lekgothwane le wa ga Mamiala
Blessings to you all on this here Day of the African Child 🙏🏾🕯

On the topic of GBV,y'all made good points and Scoop, the point u raised about Hip Hop is really crucial and most of us take it lightly...and like other cultures,Hip Hop is flawed, there are quite a lot of things that we have to unlearn and learn and not just in the Hip Hop culture...
For example,in the Black culture...growing up,we were taught that a woman has to be submissive, and they never saw any wrong in beating women(some),so I think alot of different cultures are flawed,we've been socialised at a very young age to view women the way we viewing them now and really,we got to unlearn that🙏

    Teaching black young man.
    Call out the abusers.
    Acting when such instances occur.
We as men a the one to hold it together in order to change this. We really are passed the talking phase to make things better rather actions need to be put in play right now. Practical ways I think most South Africans can be involve to participate in our economy. Government must build more technical schools in townships and rural areas, in case someone does not want to be trained to be eventually be an academic; can have an option to acquire necessary skills to invent or build something or start a business. So in a null shell government must provide all opportunities possible for its citizens to strive on

The is nothing wrong when you have a ghost writer but don't regard yourself as the greatest rapper. even K.dot said 'as soon as you have a ghost writer, you no longer regarded as thee greatest bton nton. Rather have co-writers. ❤️

With racism, I think if Africa can rise economically to a level of USA like China did; that is when racism will end. If that happens every black man/woman around the world will be liberated. Also as Africans, we must instill in our minds that we are very capable of achieving of what our minds can conceive, we mustn't wait for validation from anyone. We're very wonderful and very capable of improving the world from the already existing knowledge and technology..
