Brilliant work guys, making it look easy and quick is no luck. But luck always helps when dealing with multiple angles over reducing distance is luck👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😎😎🇦🇺
That’s a good looking shell for the drawers to go into. Regarding the 18” deep storage area; if you installed a cabinet with doors and put shelves inside, then you would have a larger storage area for longer things like a level or hoses, etc. We live in an RV full time and I just bought my first Festool products, a T55 FEQ track saw and a CT MIDI Dust Extractor. My wife isn’t fully convinced that we needed them, but after building her a platform for her desk chair to roll on she’s coming around to seeing its benefits. Looking forward to seeing the drawers installed. For the shortest drawers, many RV’s use short drawer glides so if you can’t find them in the hardware store, a bigger RV store might have what you need.
So much for the scribe tool, taking it apart and hauling it back to the house. I’d say you are lucky and good. That’s a nice custom cabinet base in 30 minutes or less. You all have a real future in custom boat building.
I have a suggestion for you. In the left corner of your future new cabinet as that would be dead space where the two cabinets meet use that a lift top trash can. Then with your new existing cabinet you've just built, the section you suggested for a bespoke trash can I suggest a components draws/pigeon holes for small screws/ nit bits!
Good job! If you don`t have anything else going into that space, go for the watermaker. You can put some sound isolation in that cabinet and it will be quiet too. /Marc
You should put in a swing out chair so that you can do little things that need finesse and dexterity like soldering wires or assembling small parts. A swing out chair wouldn't flop around in big seas either...
A light weight spares cabinet for things that you always need like o-rings, impellers, gaskets, things of that nature that don't weigh much but always seem to take up a lot of room and are notoriously hard to keep organized. I realize it's in the bow of that hull so nothing to heavy of course so even things like spare lines or extra PDFs. All things you want to have but never had room for before or wish you had on hand when you need them. Just my two cents on it. Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
I’m a new subscriber to your TH-cam channel. I have been watching since you and the Fam took on the Leopard 50 rebuild. Ty! You are a Jack of all trades and a Master at all of them! I’m glad I found your channel and look forward to your TH-cam content!
if you don't have a plan for that end cabinet, I wouldn't overthink or overbuild it. I would just do a couple of big doors with shelves. (Maybe I just have a commitment problem.) Then, when you have a need, the bell will go off in your head that you have exactly the perfect spot for whatever that need is.
Treat yourself to a Einstar 3D hand held scanner so you can make more use of your Shaper Origin CNC. It will dramatically improve your precision and speed in such complex 3d environment’s 👍 Work smarter not harder..🥵
I say build a custom chest style freezer in that end cabinet using a system like Coolblue. That way it can be whatever shape you need it to be and you'll have a deep freezer for those weeks when the fish aren't biting. Would also be nice to keep steaks on board so you don't have to pay Caribbean/Bahamas prices for them. $.02
Ahoy There,,, The major issues of most dingys are they need to be helped up. How I solve this problem is let them down easy like and leave port ASAP. Problem solved until making next port and head off to dinner and drinks at nearest bar / eatery. Repeat dingy issue again. Quiet Capt.Davit
@@jonunya3128 if it's close a appropriate sized (bigger gap bigger washer) washer will work too just push pencil or marker inside washer hole toward the edge you want and roll od of washer down the thing to be traced..
@sailingdauntless for the back cabinets make them to fit Milwaukee packout or DeWalt stackable containers. Third party's make latch able bases so they wont move around on rough sea's
Damn Ty, I've watched you do some amazing work, but maybe cabinet making is not one of them, put down the $30 Saker scribe and pick up a piece of 1x with a pencil hole in it. Take your time and you will scribe tighter.
It looks very functional. How about a 3 tier Lazy Susan in that far left corner. It could be used to store soaps, fabric softener, or other stuff. Cheers
The more storage you have the more "stuff" you will accumulate. Just saying. Will you have a drop down bed that lowers on to the bench to make another spare bed for guests ;)
Pull up fridge drawers. Like that scene in the 1st Jurassic Park where they are getting the embryos. No waisted corner space, and who couldn’t use more fridge or freezer space?
Why dont you glass the cupboard uprights to the hull? This way, they become structural and noise. I am sure you have a reason for not doing it. Care to explain in the next video?
We started watching your family almost 2 years ago. We stopped about 6 months ago. When are you guys going to eventually "make memories not dreams"? So far you have lived in boatyards for your entire adventure. I cant wait until I can see you guys start sailing the world and seeing what's out there. I love the different personalities and how engaged the family is in this process but I'm personally not interested in 2 years of boat repairs.
I think all /most sailing channels stop sailing and do repairs, retrofit, and new boat builds so hard to find one with no interruption in sailing but there are enough channels that you can always get a fix as someone is always on the water! I think Dauntless was about done with first boat redo and ready to go sailing….. then a brand new (but damaged) boat comes up for sale and they couldn’t resist! I personally do like seeing what goes into a boat build as it will make the maiden voyage and subsequent escapades more meaningful and in fact, now that they have put so much effort into boat #2 , I worry about her first ‘ding’😢
We are so glad your enjoying the adventure “however it may develop” We appreciate the support, we will get to more full time adventures soon. In the mean time we will be taking more time for fun and enjoying the process.
You are doing a fantastic job with the boat. Don't forget to insulate the hull to eliminate condensation. However, I find it hysterically funny that Americans make it more difficult than necessary by using imperial units with fractions. Why not just use metric units?
Several people have commented on this but he did answer someone’s comment that they are waiting on parts so had to go to another project while waiting (and mentioned it also in a prior video but don’t remember which one…)
Once in a blue moon, 4 legs and a waging tail can be seen in different places. This time, it was the overhead air vent.. love it.

That was a very good first attempt 👌
Looks like you used better plywood on those cupboards than Lagoon used on their main bulkheads.
Good job!

Thanks so much for the pro tips, Ty! Work safely ❤️
Your welcome! Thank your watching and the support!!
that's a win. nice job

make it into sort of a fire box ? Where you then have all your tool batteries stored along with charging station :)

The butcher, the baker, and the cabinet maker. Oh, who's the butcher?
Butcher?? Haven’t you seen Ty “fillet a fish?” 😂😂

Wow great job
Hello everyone, wish your family many blessings from God
Nice job.
I would have been inclined to locate the trash container furthest aft vs forward
But that’s just my choice
Great creation !

Perfect spot to store the shop vac! Make it where it can roll in and out.
So many great suggestions for remaining useable space- which one will they choose!!🤷♀️
You’ll have to wait and see!
👍☑🏝 Great job guys, wouldn't have worked out without that great fluffy supervisor!
I would store at least one 6.5hp Dry Vac in the big storage compartment at the end of the utility room .
The space looks perfect for 3 kegs of Bud Light. I hear you can get them real cheap at the moment.
Put a workbench / desk in the bow.
For tracing stuff like your side bases I use plywood hole saw cutouts just put a pencil in the pilot and you have the offset.
that's a smart idea

Me, I would put a sewing table. I am thinking of doing this to my future sailboat.

Awesome vid! Where's your washer/dryer going to go?
Thanks ! In the head, we are doing a remodel there also

Nice work as always.
put a bank of battery chargers for your power tools in that last bank of drawers where there is not much room.
The more storage you have the more "stuff" you will accumulate. Just saying.

Love it! Great Job!
Pull up fridge drawers. Like that scene in the 1st Jurassic Park where they are getting the embryos. No waisted corner space, and who couldn’t use more fridge or freezer space?
Put a mini lathe on the back cabinet :D You will have fun !!!
So, are you going to have room for all the Milwaukee and Festool on the boat?
There will be quite a bit of Milwaukee and Festool on the boat! Stay tuned for the upcoming episode where we discuss the cruisers tool box😉👍
You all do good work!
Did you use 3/4 inch, sanded plywood? @SailingDauntless
Make it a space for wet bar supplies 🍹🍹🎉
Well done Ty! Are you glassing it to the hull?
Wouldn't it be better to fiberglass tab the cabinet to the hull? Would make it creek proof.
How about a dedicated video editing station
Put your own beer fridge. And don't tell the boss
😂
Worden maker in that corner
I did government work. He is right. Close enough for Gov work. :)
Why dont you glass the cupboard uprights to the hull? This way, they become structural and noise. I am sure you have a reason for not doing it. Care to explain in the next video?
just how heavy is this boat going to be?.. maybe install a couple of V8's to push it along?
SCUBA tanks in that small cabinet. No doors.
Where's the sailrite sewing machine going ?
Good question!
Sorry, to long duration! Toms down!
Good ol govt work pun. lolol

Great work, if only we could hear you.
I can see that weight is not a concern to you.... seems you've turned your boat into a motor cruiser.
Sadly, this video has not a dang thing to do with Victron components, 4-ought wire or crimping ferrules.
