if you had attached the chain to the side it would of worked alot better. the billet was too tall to keep it straight. at least thats my opinion, from a 26 years of experience in smithing
When i try again i will get a wider core steel and stack 2 or 3 wide instead of 1 wide and extremely tall. Probably weld some sacraficial steel on the sides to help keep it straight while i get the weld set strong enough
Already working on 1 of the billets. Its coming out very cool. Ideas for the second billet are much appreciated.
Congratulations its really good pattern!!!👍👍👍
Thank you
If you want the chain straight, go with canoe canisters, then you have all the control, instead of gravity fighting you.
great job JP looking good so far looking forward to next video to see what you make how about matching kitchen knives ?Mark 😃👍👍
Thank you. Ill see what i make the other billet is a bit chunkier.
Looking good so far. How about making a matching set to display the difference
Hmmm maybe
With the bigger one u should make some kind of a bush cleaver or like a square chopper it would look sick
That sounds like a good idea
A pair of skinner🔥
Skinners are work
Next time, do a Canoe style canister, so you can lay the chain in horizontal, and build you can that way
Yes im going to have to give it a try. It should give me a cleaner look.
Good hammer skills! 🙄👍
Thank you
tonto for the longer skinner piece
Neat idea. Im saving the tanto for a build ive been wanting do do for months but i havent had the time. Hopefully after the youtube knife competition.
That would have looked good 4 wayed as a basket weave
That sounds interesting 🤔
