The Livens projector isn't about getting kills, its main use is to alter the battlefield in the objective you are attacking and leave the defending enemy team at a massive disadvantage.

Oh man, on the Kaiserschlacht map I was the AA and artillery king. Those field guns and those Pom-poms were my babies. From the start of the game with the first available field gun, I could put rounds into the church in the back of the map (3rd or 4th sector) and actually kill dudes messing around back there. Tanks and armored cars weren't safe from me either. If I was defending, the fields guns further back could shoot over the highest point in front of the German trenches so I could get enough of an arc on my shots to enter the trenches and hit the back wall at roughly a 45° angle instead of just in front or way over their heads.
man, i remember one time when i played defense in one of the russian operations and when we were pushed back to a trench line, i took control of a machine gun and basically held that part of the trench line with help of my team. felt like real war.we got overrun after a while, but damn did we make them fight hard for it. also, this one time in the argon forrest, i jumped on the field gun to keep the attackers away and got a bunch of kills while defending my teams flank. that felt so good
My squad was stuck in one of the underground bits on the verdun map, during a game of rush, we held that point for over 40 respawn points before someone spammed AT grenades
I was in a tower snipping in bf5 and I zoomed in on my scope ad I saw a end of a tank barrel move and aim to we’re I was aiming and shot it was like a scene from a movie

Am I the only one who thinks the stationary heavy MG is absolute trash? I always feel like just using a bipoded LMG is just as good at killing people and doesn't scream out to all snipers for a bullet in the head.
Some of them are set up really good. Theres one in suez which is lined up towards a trench, i got a 10+ kills spray there one time in operations playing as defenders.
I remember using the fortress gun to destroy a dreadnought and feeling great. I also took out an airship behemoth with the heavy mg (maxim mount) and that gave me a good laugh
I really like the apocalypse's gas cannons, when you know where the enemy is going to be you can get 1 or 2 free kills, and the way they fire is so satisfying
That is my actual list actually. I just find the Gas launcher so satisfying, that's why I like it so much. I don't like the Artillery Cannon ( Field cannon) So much because I am not a good shot, I can't hit anything with it. The AA cannon is suprisingly versatile, and the Machine gun is just good for spraying down infantry.
Coastal gun is actually good. Situational, but good If you happen to have a ship in range, it's a beast. It was designed to melt destroyers and drednought. For it being destroyed: Yes, it's true. But all you have to do is equip a repair tool. After you destroy a ship, you go to combat, die later on and go into action again. All and all, this gun is good, when it has targets.
I think fortress gun should get a higher grade because it's the only stationary weapon which can truly stop the enemy pushing. You can clean the whole enemy wave in a few shots even before EA buffed it. and most importantly, it can clean any tank in few seconds after it reborn if its not only appears in few maps, fortress gun and AA canon can become the best two stationary weapon in the game.
I feel the auto cannon is awesome, it's location has good protection that's 100% bullet/tank proof, and the few locations you can be shot from you can punish with a quick burst. I have gotten 10-15 kills streaks. Not to mention the thing destroys tanks, I have like 10 tank kills on giants shadow. Your list looks cool with me, I would put the auto cannon as number 2
There is one amazing defence feature with the fortress gun that you didn’t mention, on Monte grappe since the special vehicle is the zeppelin you can very easily take it down using the cannon, I’ve gotten I’d say around twenty kills with this strategy. You also didn’t mention that since the bunker beneath it (on monte grappe) can be laid under siege that can be broken out of if there is a support to repair it when destroyed, that and armour/air support can save the people laid under siege beneath it.
I found a way around the lack of damage. If you press the button for what secondary shell you want at the same time you fire, two shells will be launched,Tbag,old buddy.
Monte Grappa is my favourite map because my relatives of that time fought it. I have also been on the real Monte Grappa and Forte Ferro is accurate! A good job even if the Italian uniforms in BF1 are strange and a little bit different from the real ones. Another "mistake" is that this battle was fought mostrly by the Italian special mountains corp called Alpini and in the game there aren't Alpini (the majority of the Italian soldiers who fought ww1 were Alpini coming from the local villages on the Alps). Also the Austrian uniforms are a little bit inaccurate... the Stahlhelm wasn't so popular between the Austrian infantry, they were buying them from the German Empire, but in last years of war they didn't have lots of money so they used to use cloth hats instead of helmets because they were cheaper. Also the colour of the austro-Hungarian uniforms is too dark. Instead the map is well done and the landscape isn't bad... but, there aren't the famous Austrian and Italian trenches and the barbed wire that was used all over the mountain. Yes, there are the bunkers but there were many lines of trenches.
I bet if they made the coastal gun aim like a traditional stationary weapon and gave it better muzzle velocity, it would have been super effective torpedo boat killer or even long-distance scout killer, especially on albion
I wish you aim field guns with your minimap like you can with the Support class's mortar. It would let artillery play a bigger role in the game and make the game more historically accurate, since most of the casualties in World War One were from artillery fire.
I once held off an enemy offensive that also had tanks using the field gun. They just couldn't move up because i was on a hill with a great view and repair tool.
The Livens Projector is less about killing and more about hindering the enemy. Yeah the enemies can just pop on a gas mask but now they can’t aim down the sights, it restricts their FOV slightly, and the fog of the gas can confuse and hinder vision. So I don’t think you should expect to get many kills with it but a well timed shot could seriously turn the tables at a flag.
Fun fact, the AA cannon is a British design, mainly designed to protect the home islands from air raids from planes and zeplins. Limited numbers were shipped to France for the same purpose.

- Jiggers that’s because on PC, aiming is on the mouse, and when limited to just the mouse, most people don’t find it awkward, but on console, only being limited by the right stick gets pretty weird when you don’t have any mobility and purpose for the left stick
haha yeah what a prick. I would never do that but I've seen one or two friendlies shoot at me just because I took the AA gun or HMG. I do stuffs like this to my team mates some times, always in one situation: whenever my team is all snipers relaxing in the back, not shooting flares, not spotting ennemies and not even taking down ennemies effectively, obviously not playing the objective. That makes me go crazy.
The Fortress guns in Monte Grappa and Empire's Edge were game changers in the right hands. I remember one match where my squad full of randoms rushed to the gun when the Italians broke through the first sector and one of them spent the entire match keeping their tanks away from the flags , it got to the point enemy planes started ignoring the infantry and tried to take out the gun. The Behemoths managed to get close but the combined fire of the AA guns and the planes along with the Fortress gun made the blimps crash right on top of it only to be fixed and sniping planes with them was a fun mini-game.
I don't know if the fortress guns on empires edge are that good except for the one farthest from the castle. The one on Monte grappa at point D is good against infantry and tanks coming up from point B or enemy planes and Zeppelins.
@@stzsurge2250 yeah, the thing is fortress guns are effective when the enemy hasn't taken the sector before them, or their whole bunker in that regard . if a support player keeps repairing them and a good player mans the gun they can hold objective B on the fourth sector of Monte Grappa pretty well and smash anything that gets too close.
When im in the mood I become a long range support with the Stationary Canon, sit at the back of the map(if they have canons back there) and then ask my team if im hitting short, over or left or right(cuz I cant see over the hills and shit infront of me) and its REALLY satisfying when you get a dubble kill with it, also the team can ajust my fire as they see fit, so I can supress areas
The thing I love about the field gun is getting to send in an artillery strike when your squad requests it and once you have the right coordinates you can rain down every 5-8 seconds

I feel like AA guns are the best stationary weapons. Beside limited range and not being able to seriously damage armored vehicles, it's a beast. I did kill a lot of people by them by shooting planes down, killing elites and horse riders, smaller vehicles or ships, even nearby infantry or (what's the best) snipers. The key is to learn the bullet ballistic an just simply tap-fire to keep the accuracy. Field guns are amaizing too - I won't lie, but you won't kill as many enemies with it as with AA gun. The biggest pro of a field gun is that giant shield and ability to damage armored vehicles.
The mass gas mortar things, actually can be useful,if an enemy is coming from there, you can use it as a tactical way to deny an area, becouse you cant aim with the gas mask on
The livens projectors on caporeto also have explosive shells, and are pretty much a guaranteed kill whenever you use all but one that’s in a useless position
1:58 meanwhile I randomly found one and fired it to realize the enemy were heavily defending a point that the shells land at and I got a kill and the achievement
if your getting spawncamped on passchendaele as a german the german spawn livens projector is actually really good because the shells land right where enemies like to take cover, ive gotten a far few kills by just running to it and firing it off when i see the E flag being taken
He said it's very hard to get a kill with the livens projectiles... I actually got 2 kill with it on cappereto in one round That's an achievement in his eyes
@@galladesamurai2380 indeed. In fact, in battlefield they are much lower velocity than they would be in reality. Those cannons utilised he same round as the rifle in the "tank hunter" kit, which were the rounds original intended use, in a HMG. They later realised the round was better suited to light anti tank uses, although later in the war was phased out, as armour on vehicles was better designed to cope with such mobile AT weapons.
The gas shell thing is quiet helpful as it makes the area shelled is unappealing to the enemy as they have to use hip fire so they sometimes go to other places
The stationary MGs around the map are incredibly helpful for dealing with airships, if that's the Behemoth that spawns between rounds of Operations. With most others scrambling to a 20mm Pom-pom or breaking out the Rocket Gun, I go for the best positioned Static MG emplacement I can find and take out the tail section first, then the gondolas on each side of the blimp to they can't fire back, then the engines, then I whittle away at whatever body section is currently being pounded into oblivion. You guys might be surprised how much faster that thing goes down when your whole squad coordinates bringing it down - even more so if you can coordinate with the rest of the team.
actually, I've got more than 400 kills with the LIVENS PROTECTOR. All you need to know is that when the enemy team is capturing the nearest obj In sight you need to fire the livens protector

Field guns aren't artillery howitzers and they were never used fir indirect fire
Someone has done it tho, in indirect fire, they got the back of the map a few guns and started shelling and a pilot reported if they were close

- Jiggers that’s because on PC, aiming is on the mouse, and when limited to just the mouse, most people don’t find it awkward, but on console, only being limited by the right stick gets pretty weird when you don’t have any mobility and purpose for the left stick

haha yeah what a prick. I would never do that but I've seen one or two friendlies shoot at me just because I took the AA gun or HMG. I do stuffs like this to my team mates some times, always in one situation: whenever my team is all snipers relaxing in the back, not shooting flares, not spotting ennemies and not even taking down ennemies effectively, obviously not playing the objective. That makes me go crazy.
I love how in this game, stationary weapons are very useful. You actively WANT to use them.
Siege Gun is actually great for firing at bunched up enemies on flags.

The Fortress guns in Monte Grappa and Empire's Edge were game changers in the right hands. I remember one match where my squad full of randoms rushed to the gun when the Italians broke through the first sector and one of them spent the entire match keeping their tanks away from the flags , it got to the point enemy planes started ignoring the infantry and tried to take out the gun. The Behemoths managed to get close but the combined fire of the AA guns and the planes along with the Fortress gun made the blimps crash right on top of it only to be fixed and sniping planes with them was a fun mini-game.
I don't know if the fortress guns on empires edge are that good except for the one farthest from the castle. The one on Monte grappa at point D is good against infantry and tanks coming up from point B or enemy planes and Zeppelins.
@@stzsurge2250 yeah, the thing is fortress guns are effective when the enemy hasn't taken the sector before them, or their whole bunker in that regard . if a support player keeps repairing them and a good player mans the gun they can hold objective B on the fourth sector of Monte Grappa pretty well and smash anything that gets too close.

When im in the mood I become a long range support with the Stationary Canon, sit at the back of the map(if they have canons back there) and then ask my team if im hitting short, over or left or right(cuz I cant see over the hills and shit infront of me) and its REALLY satisfying when you get a dubble kill with it, also the team can ajust my fire as they see fit, so I can supress areas
The thing I love about the field gun is getting to send in an artillery strike when your squad requests it and once you have the right coordinates you can rain down every 5-8 seconds

I feel like AA guns are the best stationary weapons. Beside limited range and not being able to seriously damage armored vehicles, it's a beast. I did kill a lot of people by them by shooting planes down, killing elites and horse riders, smaller vehicles or ships, even nearby infantry or (what's the best) snipers. The key is to learn the bullet ballistic an just simply tap-fire to keep the accuracy.
Field guns are amaizing too - I won't lie, but you won't kill as many enemies with it as with AA gun. The biggest pro of a field gun is that giant shield and ability to damage armored vehicles.
The mass gas mortar things, actually can be useful,if an enemy is coming from there, you can use it as a tactical way to deny an area, becouse you cant aim with the gas mask on
The livens projectors on caporeto also have explosive shells, and are pretty much a guaranteed kill whenever you use all but one that’s in a useless position
1:58 meanwhile I randomly found one and fired it to realize the enemy were heavily defending a point that the shells land at and I got a kill and the achievement
Mostly because it was either a sentry or a dumb player
if your getting spawncamped on passchendaele as a german the german spawn livens projector is actually really good because the shells land right where enemies like to take cover, ive gotten a far few kills by just running to it and firing it off when i see the E flag being taken
I agree with your #1 spot. Holding a point with a field cannon is probably my favorite experience in BF1

its really easy to use, press and hold E on it for a second, get 1-5 kills
One time I legit got 17 kills
at once with the siege cannon, I still remember the moment to this day lol
The gas mortar thingys will actually kill on impact, happened to me once and I was at full health with a medic bag beside me.
That HE auto cannon, well ive had pretty good kills with it and it supresses really well. Although your very susceptible to snipers

Those cannons utilised he same round as the rifle in the "tank hunter" kit, which were the rounds original intended use, in a HMG. They later realised the round was better suited to light anti tank uses, although later in the war was phased out, as armour on vehicles was better designed to cope with such mobile AT weapons.

The gas shell thing is quiet helpful as it makes the area shelled is unappealing to the enemy as they have to use hip fire so they sometimes go to other places

The stationary MGs around the map are incredibly helpful for dealing with airships, if that's the Behemoth that spawns between rounds of Operations. With most others scrambling to a 20mm Pom-pom or breaking out the Rocket Gun, I go for the best positioned Static MG emplacement I can find and take out the tail section first, then the gondolas on each side of the blimp to they can't fire back, then the engines, then I whittle away at whatever body section is currently being pounded into oblivion.
You guys might be surprised how much faster that thing goes down when your whole squad coordinates bringing it down - even more so if you can coordinate with the rest of the team.
I would say the disadvantage with the field gun is that one can easily take it out by hitting the crew
Hence why I’ll put the 1pdr at the top personally
