I first played the Night Cage at a gaming retreat. 5 of us crammed into the master closet of our Air BnB and used candle light to play. The heat from the candles made it hot and uncomfortable after a while but it really played into the theme. When we escaped, someone hurried and opened the door to let in cool, fresh air! Easily one of the most thematic and memorable gaming experiences I've ever had.
So excited for this. I love The Night Cage and the challenges of winning with the different monsters and being able to combine them. Can't wait to try out another set. The theme is the perfect amount of creepy. I love how the incorporate it and even added something new that fits right in. The artistic design for The Other with the Shrieking Hollow is so good.
We love the Night Cage, I wasn't looking for an expansion on this game but this looks terrifyingly fun. The way that Other moves is so creepy and stress inducing!
I hope this fixes the problems of the base game in that you might have a cluster of keys or gates toward the bottom. I know that there are suggested house rules for this but I'm looking for an official fix. My playgroup isn't keen on knowing that there might be a chance where victory is impossible from the get go no matter how well everyone plays.
From this, I don't see how. It will always be a possibility with games like this. You might even have the opposite problem and everything is on the top. About the only way to fix would be to control the distribution. I have experienced this with other games, where they instruct you to take a portion of a deck and shuffle other cards into it. Outside of flat-out telling you this, I am not sure how they would mechanically prevent this. Have a track that fills up with other tiles and when a limit is reached, a key tile gets generated?
They mentioned in the campaign they have an official fix for this coming. Probably just something along the lines of seperate tiles into X amount of stacks and place 1 key in each

Yes, it does. New ways to setup the tiles. A better dispersion. I played 4 times with the new method. Worked really well.

The Night Cage game was very disappointing. Great theme, not much game in our opinion.
Give it another chance, has more strategy than it seems. Play it in group
