If you don’t use the cross fader (and switch it off - go to: Menu/ Xfader Curve / Off) you now can use the music channels individual X/Y toggle switch to allocate that channel to either FX -X or FX-Y (independent of the cross fader position now it’s off). Using this above method with the toggles, means you can also assign multiple channels to either FX-X or FX-Y. So you could switch all the music channels (1 to 4) to FX-X for example, and add a chosen FX to multiple channels.
Please note: You can have x4 (vinyl) turntables connected to the Xone:DB2. The mixer has a MENU function called SOFT RIAA which allows you to apply a software preamp on Analogue inputs 1 and 4. So added with the Phono/Line switch on Analogue inputs 2 and 3; you can have a total of 4 vinyl turntables connected. For More info: See, Xone:DB2 User Guide Pg. 21.
Hi on these mixers the output LEDs are independent from the master out....they are are the sum of all your cue levels, master out does not alter the led levels
hi. i plan to purchase and connect an rmx1000 external effets witH my db2. i noticed there isnt any send and return connectors with this mixer. what would you recommend the next best routing in the absence of send and return? im contemplating sound quality might be compromised if i hook up the OUT port of db2 through the IN port of the rmx.
nice walk through thanks you - i have the 92, trying to get one with more FX, i mix on technics and want ccd too, so need a 4 chan, i dont scrach, i really cant find an A&h with fx that can be asinged to each chan, unless its the the db2 or db4
on 10.27 you hit the cue buttons but strangely each time you hit a cue button the previous one went off - is there possibility to preview 2 tracks at the same time or...not? looked weird...
can you please explain what a relatively long cut in distance is and what a typical cut in distance is for scratching? I do not scratch much and want to learn some more advanced scratches to mix in hip hop and trap, but i won't be a "scratch dj" since I stick mostly to house. I just like to switch it up every once in a while. i just have no frame of reference as to what a longer cut in distance is vs a "typical" cut in distance. please help?
so the DB2 is longer than 1-1.5 mm? Can i ask how much longer the cut in distance is? I'm just planning on basic stabs, transforms, and beatjuggling. I don't think I'll ever get into complex crabs haha by the time i learn that, I'm sure a new mixer will come out XD
Would you recommend this mixer for someone who doesn't scratch much but spins more old school hip hop/r & b, and Top 40? I know the xfader isn't as tight as a DJM or Rane but I'm hearing the onboard effects are legendary. Plus the input matrix routing allows you to get real creative with your mixes.
I use my RMX1000 w/ a mixdeck quad (no send returns) and just connect it to my master out and then output from the RMX into my amp/speakers. Haven't noticed drop in quality since RMX is fairly high quality. Cons: you cant cue fx though and the fx is only applied to the master out, not individual channels, same w sampling. BUT, you CAN input the RMX into a channel to use as a designated sampler, use sample rolls, and use the DB2 fx on the RMX samples. But you give up the RMX fx tho using that way
Old video but I have a question. Can you mix between Traktor and physical decks on the DB:2 or can it only work with one or other other. I am wondering if it can be used to beat match between connected physical deck and a Traktor system as well ( both active at the same time).
@@kareem_the_dream I was playing a gig with another DJ on a standard mixer and 2 CDJ's he brought his Traktor S4 and a laptop - was wondering if there was another way the S4 would connect to the DB:2 other than using a standard master out to the DB:2's RCA input on a channel. We did this and his decks had a lower sound output than the physical CDJ's and we couldn't figure out why as the channel fader was always maxed.
@@ZacharySound Yes, you can do it. You have to plug both into the computer and then to go the traktor preferences where you can look at the controller card and sound output card. You can select the S4 as the controller inputs and towards the bottom of the same page you can select the DB4 as the output. You also have to go in and mess around with the input/output tabs as well.
It depends really... Some people like the Xone:92 sound better than all else as it has an all analog setup where the DB2 has some digital audio in it. They are both excellent though.
What I hate about this thing is that they don't allow ysou to use the effects on a channel without the crossfader. I HATE the crossfader!!! He has destroyed several of my live sets.

I really love my old xone 42.
Maybe I will stick to it for the rest of my life :D

Nice review! My friend just got one, now I'm ready to rock it.
how does this compare to the pioneer djm 900, which one would you pick??
***** thanks man, was debating between them two. heard the 900 didnt sound good, this and that, all kind of stuff. yet, lots of djs/clubs use it.
aaaaaand this mixer is back on my wish list!
Does anyone know if it is still supported with Serato? Looking to pick up a used unit. DVS?

Yeah, if you want to stay with A&H you have to get one of the DB's or get an external effects device.
Great review! Answered a bunch of questions I had.
Can i connect this with virtual dj?...if yes how? Thanx nice video

Yes, you have to press them at the same time...
Yes you go into the settings in menu and change them to hold so you don't have to press them at the same time.

+D Riles Yes, this will work for that. You can also upgrade to an innofader if you feel the fader isn't tight enough for you...
You're the man! I appreciate the quick feedback. Will the effects sound good with r & b/old school hip hop songs?
+D Riles Yes, they sound great with everything. Excellent effects on this thing!

Yes you can do that! You just use the selectors at the top to change the input type per channel and on the fly. You can go back and forth with it.

is there a significant difference in the audio quality of db2 compared to db4?
I really don't think there is an audio quality difference between the two... They both sound GREAT as with all Allen & Heath products...
***** Thank you for your quick response, looking to buy it soon

It depends really... Some people like the Xone:92 sound better than all else as it has an all analog setup where the DB2 has some digital audio in it. They are both excellent though.
the Xone92 has deeper warmer bass as its analogue. You can't beat analogue sound but DB2 is still top notch.
Hey,is all the fader post fader?
daamn some aux and more for an extra groovebox and i would go for it
THAT MIXER BIG AS YOU..WOOOW!
DB4 96KHz Sample rate
DB2 48KHz Sample rate
Pity but something for something. I actually can hear difference between both.
4 analogue decks can be used.
nice!
