Just got this Dua in last night and is today’s SOTD. I’m loving this. Quality is fantastic and I can really appreciate the simplicity of the note breakdown, really allowing the Myrrh to shine. The opening is bright, sweet & resinous, while the dry down becomes a dark & smoky incense spice. This fragrance isn’t overbearing and it’s super churchy which is exactly what I want in a Myrrh fragrance. Highly recommend this to anyone interested.
Thank you for the review on this. Fresh subscriber and I enjoy your channel.

I'd still like to hear your thoughts on the Dua atomizer. In my experience, they're horrible because of the super fine mist they create. This is something I've not heard you comment on in any Dua review and makes me suspect that you're trying not to offend them and lose access instead of give them meaningful feedback.
That extrait de parfum is useless as selling point on product strength if normal air currents in a room blow it away and disperse it into a cloud before it hits your skin when trying to apply from a normal distance.

Being an extrait de parfum, shouldn’t it perform differently than the Tom Ford?

If you're talking about longevity and sillage, getting a 1 to 1 comparison with Dua is difficult because their atomizer absolutely sucks.
It creates a superfine mist that will blow away by normal air currents in a room if you hold it a normal distance from your skin.
If you give a full spray from a normal distance, you'll end up in a fragrance cloud. If you move it closer and do a full spray, because it's so concentrated, you'll end up with an oily patch of fragrance that doesn't dry down properly.
So, you have to move the nozzle closer and do mini sprays, as best as finger dexterity allows (I try for 1/4 sprays, fairly close).
Because of all that, getting a 1 to 1 performance comparison is impossible because the application amount and dispersion will be very different.
That said, the Dua juice is potent. I made the mistake of blind buying a Dua original (not a clone of anything) based on the rave, but curated, reviews and hit myself with a spray. While OK out of the nozzle, I didn't like the product when it was on my skin and you can't wash the stuff off.
Probably the biggest performance issue from the wearer's perspective, other than the horrible atomizer making application annoying, is that it's strong enough it will fatigue your sense of smell and you'll lose the ability to detect it. If you stand next to people, you'll realize they can smell it (inquiring looks if they like it, steps away from you if they don't lol).
Also, I do wish Dua would focus more on cloning a proper mixture instead of pushing the extrait de parfum angle. Perhaps it's Masham's way of feeling like he's not ripping off the original (if he's making a better version). But, because the application on skin is different and the dry down process is different because the oil concentration is different, the clones are very close but not quite the same as the original inspiration. This can be good or bad depending which version a person prefers. I don't know if you have experience with Dua, but of the few clones I have, they're basically so close, I don't have the sharpness of nose to notice significant difference.
They're hybrids and originals are hit and miss, though.

@@Texas240 I was just wondering about performance. In Steven’s analogy extrait de parfums are like a suitcase with $1000 in it while edp’s are like a suitcase with $100 in it. He mentioned that the clone of this Tom Ford fragrance is comparable to the original in performance. If extraits have higher value compared to edp’s shouldn’t their performance be better?

    • @Texas240
      @Texas240 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tsanegrete - as I explained, if you had the same atomizer and could do a similar application, the extrait de parfum would probably have better performance. Because it's impossible to apply then the same without decanting them into bottles with the same atomizer, it's impossible to do a direct comparison on performance because performance will be partly based on how the mixture disperses and lands on your skin.
Then, there's the other issue I mentioned about performance for who the wearer or other people nearby? The Dua mixture is so strong that I've found myself becoming nose blind to it or developing scent fatigue (what some people incorrectly call anosmic, anosmia is the inability to smell anything, not 1 particular scent). So, there are times I can't smell it, but other people can. How does that relate to your measurements of performance?
Personally, I find the weaker mixture that I can continue to smell to be better performing than the stronger mixture that blinds my nose to it.
Of course, when you're comparing a $60 dua clone to $400+ Roja product, I'll be happy with the "lower performance" of the Dua. Again, I put that in quotes because the Dua mixture is actually more potent but it's so potent that I lose the ability to smell it. I have a few and some scents are more prone to this than others. Everyone's nose will differ in that regard.
Anyways, a direct comparison is impossible without decanting the clone and original into the same type of bottle so the atomizer and application are the same.

I don't have the OG, but I did order the Dua as soon as it was released. I'm very happy with it, I love myrrhe and frankincense in different forms, and I think Dua did a great job here. It's smooth, a bit of sweetness, and I found its longevity on past eight hours. I thought its projection was OK. Such a comfortable frag for cooler weather, and this will be so easy to layer in different directions. To my nose, and I've only worn it twice, it went from myrrhe to sandalwood and back to myrrhe, with the right amount of sweetness from vanilla and a slight touch of musk.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS DUA DUPE!
It does NOT smell like Tom Ford. It doesn’t even come close. I have gone thru 2 50ml bottles of the original Myrrhe Mystere so I know what the original smells like and how it performs throughout the day. Why is this guy pushing this stuff?
