This video is on a topic that strangely results in skepticism so I'd encourage you, if you don't believe anything said, to look at the number on the bottom left of the video when something is said, find the corresponding number in the description, and read the source of the info. Every assertive fact in this video was researched and published by someone with far more qualifications than myself so those references are the ones to read to learn more.

You forgot one major factor the Arctic will face in the future and that is the Geopolitical repercussions an open and accessible Arctic will have. You have many nations now attempting to assert their sovereignty in the North, with many territorial disputes still unsettled. This could lead to a militarization of the Arctic as countries try to secure their land and maritime territories. We are already starting to see it with the massive Russian military expansion in the Arctic, as well as US and Canadian procurement of new naval assets for Arctic patrol and control. Overall great video though!

The rise in temperatures in the Arctic in 2018 was part of a global phenomenon. Across the world last summer there was incredibly high temperatures - particularly in Europe, US and Japan - which is still having knock-on affects today (for example, in the UK we experienced 51 days with no rain in some areas which has meant crops have been lost).
This year I expect it to be lower, but of course over time it will gradually rise. You can tell 2018 was an anomaly in the data from your graph at the start of the video comparing Arctic temperatures from 2013, it rose to a much higher temperature at a much higher rate than the last few years.

Hotels and other tourist industries are already in place. As a Finn, I know a summer week might be only 8C and rain and mosquitos. But that's mostly in June. Real summer usually begins in July :). Hello from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories!
I subscribed to your channel first from your videos regarding aircraft & flight traffic, but it is amazing to see you cover Arctic economics!
I think you do a solid job in covering multiple angles to a topic - using statistics often in your videos & not asserting a position prior - thank you for that!
I would be very interested in a video comparing Arctic nations' policies in mining/industry (both present and future) .... I would be very intrigued!

I once heard a feature about Iceland's digital economy. Cheap real estate and electricity (and the fact that cooling is easier) make Iceland an interesting location for putting large serverfarms.
Now Iceland is just outside the Arctic Circle and locations within it might not have the volcanic benefits to power generation but the fact that there is a LOT of space might be an important resource in itself.

Iceland has had some facinating economic transitions! In the past 10-15 years it's had one of the fastest transitions to a tourism economy of probably any country. I didn't include Iceland in this video since, for one, almost all of it is outside the Arctic circle and also that there's so much to talk about that I've considered doing a whole other video on it.
