Awesome video. I'm from Brainerd and I love to spear. That's all I've been doing this winter. Next time you guys set up in a portable try laying down foam exercise mats. They drastically cut down the noise vibrations that are made when you are moving around. I started doing it and it helps A LOT. I've had way less pike that come in get spooked. It also keeps your feet from getting cold by having them right on the ice.
Josh Anderson, definitely a great area to spear, thanks for the suggestion on the foam mats, I can see how that would help. We will have to get some for next time!
@@UnReelMinnesota I'll never leave the Brainerd Lakes area. It's the best place you'll ever find if you hunt and fish. A lot of people buy the square interlocking foam mats from Amazon. They work awesome as a floor in portables to hold in heat and not slipping when the heater melts the ice. It also helps darken the portable when spearing.

I use outdoor carpet. Works great.
We've put laminate flooring down. Sure it gets spendy but when it comes to pike spearing, we don't mess around!!

There's nothing like fishing in Minnesota. I grew up in Fergus Falls, moved to Colorado 8 years ago and go back every summer to fish. I need to make a winter pilgrimage to do some ice fishing.

I have never been spear fishing. I live in Minnesota, and I love going out to the lakes of Faribault. I went ice fishing so may times this year! I have always wondered what spear fishing is like, and it looks awesome!

What do you do if you spear a pike and it's illegal size to keep? Or is there no size limit spearing personally I don't know
Minnesota has three different zones. Each zone has a different size and quantity limit. Biggest thing is, if you don’t know, you don’t throw. No excuses
