Kevin and Nick nail it in this review! Tim, “This movie is supposed to be cool.” Kevin , “This movie IS cool…for 12 year olds!” Kevin gets it and I enjoyed this movie for what it was and that’s a love letter to the 80’s cartoon.
I don’t care what anyone says. This movie gave me Krang, Bebop/Rocksteady, Shredder, Stockman, The Turtles, and fun action. This movie will always be one of my favorite Turtles movies and definitely in my Top 3.
He always takes movies far too seriously. He gets so offended when people have a differ opinion than him too. It often ruins episodes. Just have fun, baby boy.
Throughout his run on Arrow, Stephen Amell gave some really solid performances. He started off fairly wooden but naturally progressed. I don’t fault him too much for Casey. Even the best actors struggle selling shit writing.
I like this film. Everytime Rocksteady and Beebop say "My man" I laugh. It's just a fun live action cartoon. Edit- Tyler Perry's nerd laugh got me everytime as well.
Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows truly felt like a live action remake of the 80s series. I was really impressed with the pacing, humor, spectacle, etc. Not crazy about some of the casting and design choices, but the rest I felt made up for it. If you go back and watch the old 80s cartoons, it is so similar and just as cheesy. I was excited to possibly see Baxter as a fly and mousers in a third movie. Maybe the rat king or leatherhead. I would love a TMNT universe. Lets get that going! Shredder in the 80s series was always an idiot. Also the humans are supposed to be more serious and realistic, that is what makes the the more animated characters contrast in such a goofy funny way. The 80s series was just as ridiculous in this way. The humans were witty one liners, but they were not at all as cartoony in their actions or personality. I hated the TMNT animated movie. lol. Go watch a couple of episodes of the 80s show and then rewatch this movie and you will see why this movie was a brilliant turn around from the 2014 remake. And for the record, Batman and Robin is one of the worst movies ever made.

I understand where Andy is coming from not liking how some things are acted compared to the Fast and the Furious. I however disagree with one thing Tim said comparing this to the FF Saga. He said they did the roller skate thing because that thought it would cool, but FF does things that are supposed to be stupid and over the top with their sequences. I call BS on that. FF also make sequences because they think they'll be cool and most of the time they don't hit either. And these 2 turtles movies also did stupid and over the top in parts that worked when it did it.

The thing that I hated the most was you bring in an actor like Brian T, who's actually a pretty good actor, to play Shredder, and literally turn him into the bumbling buffoon he was in the 80s cartoon. But even that Shredder did more than this one. It's insane how you go from Shredder kicking ass while looking like a trash can in the last film, to him looking like a badass in this, to doing nothing of note. He didn't even fight. Wtf were they thinking? Overall, this movie is okay for one watch, and is better than the last one, but it still doesn't measure up in any way to any of the best Turtles material, which I find to be the 2000s cartoon, the original comics, and the IDW comics. I hope Seth Rogan and his team can make this franchise worth something in films again.
I kind of feel like the way the in review movies are ranked should be changed. With ppl getting outvoted it kind of voids their ranking from the official KF rankings. Maybe the votes could be averaged instead or something.

You guys do know the Bechdel test has nothing to do with whether or not a film is good, right? I really don't understand the point of it. "The Light house" with Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson fails that test because the whole movie is just 2 guys in a room. Does that make it misogynistic? No. The Bechdel test is stupid.

They have said multiple times they review wide spread theatrically released movies only in these In Review series. With the exceptions being the TV shows of Marvel & Cobra Kai. And the streaming stuff during Covid lockdown.
Not trying to knock the intention behind this new "Bechdel Test" segment, but wasn't the Bechdel Test literally created as a joke? Like, actually made to point out how bad females are represented in movies AND doesn't actually work at proving women are well represented in a movie just because it passes it. Case in point, this stupid movie, where Megan Fox talks to a woman, but is also overtly sexualized in a goddamn schoolgirl uniform. Hardly a prime example for female representation in films. I guess my point is, I don't really get the point of including this new segment. Not knocking it, just pointing out it's a bit weird, since the test itself has misplaced priorities. A much better test would be the "Mako Mori Test".
The guy who plays Casey Jones is unwatchable. I hated him with a passion of a thousand suns. And this movie is too long…a million things happen in it and yet it feels boring.

The only thing I agree with Tim on, is the atrociously animated end credits. This is the second best Turtles movie behind the original.
