What great guys you are that you respect history, love it. Many thanks to the guys for showing such a great and today rare craft. Thank you for the work done! I watch your channel with pleasure. I really liked the restoration in detail. We are waiting for more such videos! Thank you, Erik! Good luck and prosperity to your channel!
Just to think I saw that airplane when it arrived in the United States from the bog, it was delivered in Texas at the Rio, Hondo air Museum. Where I was a young volunteer.
Nice! I hope to see the "White 1" fly again. Pilot Heinz Orlowski flew this particular aircraft during the war and got to see it in 1994 and sat in the cockpit in 2005. Also check out the Collings Foundation's F-4D which is now the only airworthy F-4 Phantom II in America.
Amazing restoration work, and I appreciate you walking all around it and keeping the camera slow and steady. So fantastic to see it, as it would have left the factory. Could you pin a comment about this plane's story? It would be great to read it's history. I see below that someone mentioned the pilot, and someone else mentioned being around when it was delivered to TX, from (maybe) being recovered from a bog.
+@austinado16 This aircraft was recovered from a mountainside in Norway, lost on 9-Feb-1945 while flying with JG5. If I recall, the pilot parachuted out low and landed in deep snow.
When White 1 was in Florida there was a large collection of Luftwaffe Ground Crew artifacts there too. Were these part of the sale of the aircraft itself?
fantastic video. Thanks for posting. Curious who fabricates the canopies for the restoration. Cheers to the volunteers for their hard work on bringing this warbird back to life. Soon all we will have left of WW2 will be the hardware and books. Cheers from Texas.
Beautiful. When is the projected completion? What percent of the plane is from original parts? I see pristine "Achtung!" warning plates on what look like brand new parts.
They might have modified the landing gear retract arms on both sides with modern worm gear drives, for reliability and safety. Those might be some of the new parts along with limit switches and yellow cables.
Why are the fans running, but the FW190 is a favourite fighter of the ww2, it’s called the butcher bird for a reason!!. In the right hands it can be very deadly.
So the F8 was the ground attack version. A replacement for the Stuka. Does the restoration keep the extra armour or is it an external restoration only with wartime excess weight getting chucked?
+@@EoinLynch-v1y It should be wartime correct. This build is based on a wreckage recovery. This aircraft had already started ground runs last year but I had read the engine was sent back for more work.
+@@titikalagan3024 This will be authentic with a BMW 801 and will be the second BMW-powered Fw-190 restoration to fly. It was rolled out complete last year but I had read that the engine was sent back for work. Collings Foundation has announced a reduction in flying so it's possible this Fw-190 may fly just a few times and retire to the museum in MA. Collings has also started a flying Stuka so look for updates in coming years. They also own the wreckage of a Dora.
Seeing the swastika made me briefly angry - but it’s part of our history. If we don’t teach it to our kids they could repeat it. Maybe someday this aircraft will kickoff a conversation with some kid and their parents about the atrocities, sacrifices, and heroism of WWII. Edit. This was meant to be a reply to another comment but screw it I’ll leave it here anyway.
Very good point. I know how you feel, and I think it’s especially relevant now with the return of fascist sentiment in different parts of the world. It’s hard to believe but we have to continue to fight it. And I think the best way to do that is with education and awareness.
The emblem of the political party, the swastika, should be on the aircraft Ms. Irene. It's part of the aircraft's history, just like everything else found on it, and in it. Here's a video from the very end of the war showing how the 190's were marked: th-cam.com/video/UvX2aSsP3Xg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this video. I hope I live to see it fly.
Also, my compliments on the lack of overbearing music or annoying narration.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful to see a top class restoration, thanks for sharing
I agree, it’s a beautiful plane.

MJS The work is amazing and the video is too. Money well spent.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this aircraft in person, I can’t wait to see it fly.

Sure come a long ways since Houston had it.
Art is where you find it. And mr. Goss is most certainly an artist of the highest caliber.
Magnificent! Keep them alive
God, I love this channel !!!
Great video Erik! See you soon!
Can't wait!
Great Work!

Or there F-100
@@Mikeylikesit1968 Their F-100 is amazing but there are at least two other Super Sabres that are airworthy although those are privately owned.
If it's owned by Collings Foundation, it won't fly again. They aren't allowed to after their semi recent incidents.
@@northwestohioplanesandtrains13 your 100% wrong
@@northwestohioplanesandtrains13 only the planes they gave rides in,
Last images I saw online of this bird, it looked pretty much flight ready. Can't wait to see another FW with its original BMW in it!
You and me both!
No way, this will have a BMW engine?
@julianneale6128 but it will
@@julianneale6128 Yes, making this bird and the FHM 190 the only ones with the BMW 801
@mypl510 That's very good news.
Best fighter of WW2.

I’ve always wondered how you should see anything forward out of the small windshield.
Großartig - Danke !!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Probably cause it's hot in the hangar
@@Mikeylikesit1968 do you think 🤔 that little fan would do much other than push the hot 🥵 air around only?

Shot this one with my cell phone. I Phone 15 Pro Max. Great camera

Radial engine, I believe BMW if I remember correctly

All this is very impressive, but the restoration with a swastika on the fin of the plane is very, very incorrect...
Why do you say that?
Oh I guess we have a Karen here
It's very very correct, Karen

So, no Red Stars on former Soviet aircraft?
