As an Iranian American I have such a mixed feeling about Lebanon. 1) Regret, I am extremely ashamed of the divisive games that the Iranian regime has played in Lebanon (and in Yemen, Iraq, Syria too), everywhere Iran's mullahs go they replace happiness with misery. 2) I love everything about Lebanon's culture (except food), it's people and their amazing mix, their pure heart, it's nature, celebrities like Firooz, and Nasim Taleb (that in my opinion is one of the smartest authors in the world). 3) Sadly despite being a foodie, I am giving up on Lebanese food, and I am a huge fan of Arabic food specially Yemenite and even Syrian and Palestinian food I like, but I have noticed that Lebanese food is more like Turkish food than Arabic, what do I mean by that? In Turkish food they put spices ON the meat, hence no marriage between the spices and the meat happens, and even for that they use only a little bit of very limited spices like black pepper, In Arabic and Persian food however, we cook spices IN the meat and we are generous with both variety and quantity of spices plus nion and garlic, saffron, sumac, coriander, which are mostly absent in Turkish food. As a result meat and kababs from Turkey and Lebanon smell too much like raw meat with no aroma, the extreme case of this issue being even raw ground meat served in Turkish and Lebanese as a dish. Last but not least I see Lebanese and Turkish cuisines use more beef than lamb whereas the rest of middle east is more about lamb which is more tender. I recently had a nice and spicy Aleppo lamb kabab in a Syrian restaurant, the next day I had stuffed lamb in a Lebanese, great flavorful rice but tasteless lamb which has made me wonder why such a huge difference in food culture in such close proximity
You’re wrong about 1 thing: Lebanese use way way way more lamb than beef. I’m Lebanese and the way we grew up, lamb was always always the preferred meat of choice. Kebabs are always lamb meat in Lebanon too, kibbeh is either this or that depending on what you prefer. But lamb is definitely the more preferred meat of choice by far.

Just because we are more liberal than our neighbors doesn't mean we are not proud Arabs. At least I am
It’s because of Islam, Arabs are associated with Islam, and a lot of Lebanese people are Christians, also because of the Phoenicians which is really funny because Phoenicians also lived in the Golf countries before some of the moved to Europe. I see Lebanese people the same as other Arabs, Lebanese aren’t the only light skinned Arabs, Syrians also exist.

Come back yo reality my boy I'm lebanese I hate your state in the deepest in my heart
Syrian food is way better than lebeanse, they copy us too and claim its their food
Am a yemeni i can say iran isn't part of the game. Its what Americans are portraying to attack Iran. No need to carry shame.
@@reemsaif3105Yemen is no angel.
Girls are not Arab
You’re wrong about 1 thing: Lebanese use way way way more lamb than beef. I’m Lebanese and the way we grew up, lamb was always always the preferred meat of choice. Kebabs are always lamb meat in Lebanon too, kibbeh is either this or that depending on what you prefer. But lamb is definitely the more preferred meat of choice by far.
