Even if just purely going off of vocals, it's all subjective when you tie everything in. I love both, especially since Self Titled was literally my first ever metal album ON CD when i was growing up. I'll never forget hearing that album on a "boom box" in 2000 as a 8 year old. Slipknot changed me forever. lol! I'll never forget, my mum said, "he's listening to that mosh pit music." Lmfao! A decade ago or so I used to get really confused why there was so many metal nerds who talked so much shit on SS around the time this album was still kind of fresh,
but being observant about it now, i think it might have to do with the fact that SS at the time were a fresh young new band coming out on Century Media (same label that put Grave and others on the map back in the day) and presented themselves with this absolutely amazing debut containing great unreasonably brutal songs combined with long (4-minute) atmospheric songs all wrapped up in some of the best production work an extreme metal album could have possibly had at the time
dudes in Behemoth t-shirts who witnessed this record in 2007 were really bothered when they saw the rounds they were making all the while their mediocre Suffocation-wannabe bands which only had like 55 myspace friends played to like 20 people in the local bar every month. I can’t blame em, i’d be mad too
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wish I could remember how this album sounded to me when I first heard it... This is the first deathcore album that I found, and ultimately got me into this music. I used to shake when I heard unanswered.. I love this album so much, I used to listen to it in the halls of school, and somehow it would help me say fuck it to all the people who alienated my friends and I. God that sounds so "emo". haha

But this was my absolute favorite full album to loose my voice to on road trips to warped tour back in the good ole' days. Also, this specific video was uploaded on Dec 9, which is my bday, so that's a cool coincidence after searching this album after a decade.

I totally agree with the first two albums just because I haven't heard that one frome Carnifex but now I surely will. I mean, it´s quite impressive that moment when you see a comment like yours where at the same time I see myself, like I was the person who wrote this comment. Is well known (by true experts on this topic, obviously) that "The Cleansing" is for sure the best deathcore album until these days but the fact that you included "This Is Exile" in second place was unique to me 'cause I would have said exactly the same thing.
