A lot of people think that Sweden is Eurovision’s powerhouse of last decade… I think Italy is the real powerhouse. They always gave us different kind of songs from ballads and pop to urban and rock. And all of them with a great quality. I’m so so happy the won this year, so well deserved.
I think Sweden, Italy, Russia, Ukraine and Australia were the strongest between 2010-2021 (2015-2021 in the case of Australia, 2011-2021 in the case of Italy). Sweden, Russia and Australia only having one flop that stayed in the semi, Ukraine and Italy consistently serving quality.

Nah i don’t think Azerbaijan should have won in 2012, plus its win in 2011 was undeserved. But I think that it should have won in 2009 and 2017, which were awesome entries. As for serbia it only deserved its win in 2007. The 2012 was a good song but the hype was just because of the singer. In 2012 i still think that the only country that should have won was Albania. That entry was a different level.
The order is based on the ratio placement/number of contestants, so if that year there were just 10 entries "Nel blu dipinto di blu" is left out. I agree on the fact that it's not completely fair (I mean, if it was 1/10 it would have been still worse than 3/40 for example), but when you make a tierlist you need some requirements

Even though the 1964 Eurovision is somewhat lost due to fire that broke out, where they stored film reels of Eurovision contests. They were lucky the only part of that year's contest was the winning song reprisal, that survived.

Umberto Tozzi, who is part of the number 8 entry on this list, is the artist who recorded the original Italian version of “Gloria”, which later became a worldwide hit after Laura Branigan released an English version in the early 1980s. (Her version is still considered an ‘80s classic today.) I quite enjoy it in both English and Italian. 😄
That says a lot about the image of the italian music abroad... I mean they are good, but 60's good. Italian music is not only opera and "Volare", it kind of evolved. Thanks Måneskin for showing everyone that we're sooo much more than that.

I only think that these are the Top 10 entries of Italy as place in ESC. Far from representing the quality of so many songs that weren’t as fortunate as these 10. Would lost here 1958, 1992, 2020 among others. But it is what it is.
2000... Elisa surely would have been a candidate for that Eurovision. Her voice is melting ice, one of the most talented Italian singers of the last 20 years. She has a lot of hits in English as well like Labyrinth, Dancing or Broken
It seems that the calculation is: Score = (Place - 1)/(No. of Participating Countries) The lower the score, the higher the rank. If tied, the entry during the higher number of countries is ranked higher. If still tied, then it's the older year that's ranked higher. So winners are always at the top, but any place below can mix up depending on the number of participants.
The last three entries end in the top 10 and 5 entries from the last 10 years also end in the top 10. Then you are a real superpower at the Eurovision Song Contest! :D

2000... Elisa surely would have been a candidate for that Eurovision. Her voice is melting ice, one of the most talented Italian singers of the last 20 years. She has a lot of hits in English as well like Labyrinth, Dancing or Broken

It seems that the calculation is:
Score = (Place - 1)/(No. of Participating Countries)
The lower the score, the higher the rank. If tied, the entry during the higher number of countries is ranked higher. If still tied, then it's the older year that's ranked higher. So winners are always at the top, but any place below can mix up depending on the number of participants.
The last three entries end in the top 10 and 5 entries from the last 10 years also end in the top 10. Then you are a real superpower at the Eurovision Song Contest! :D
