I was really touched when he discovered that a bag he'd created in France was now in his hands 15 years later in Hong Kong! Who could say that about their work? Fascinating. This is why Hermès is so frightfully expensive. But it is also why they are the very best.
I hope this is not the case, but I think he was being a little too pretentious. I was under the impression they mark their bags with an arisan's ID, so that later if that bag needed to be repaired they could send it to that individual.

No matter how you look at it, there is no way you can justify a 6-digits price for a leather bag. Unless, maybe, if they found a unicorn, killed it, and then used it's skin to make a leather bag.
This is why I truly love Hermes and can’t wait to have my own collection of various products. I respect the passion, dedication and quality of the products they make. So many things are mass produced by machines but this brand still provides the same handmade products it has for decades.
Simply Red I bought a mass-produced purse from Ross for $20. It has lasted me 3 years. Do you really expect to wear the same handbag for a lifetime? I doubt it. You like the idea of owning a bag that costs more than a car because you have a void in your soul.
N B Who said that I was going to wear the same handbag for a lifetime or that I would even buy one that costs the same as a car? If you are fine with your $20 bag from Ross you’ve carried the past 3 years then good for you. Don’t make assumptions about my finances just because you don’t agree with what I may or may not choose to do with them.

Very impressed, didn't expect the video to turn out to be filmed in HK. Friends of mine were international migrants as well, or grew up in HK but never knew the language, and sometimes expressed to me that they never quite knew where they belonged anymore. It was obvious that this video shows us that it's the skill of restoring that made him feel at peace, or at home in a different scenery. Very touching
The art of making and refurbishing these handbags is a total figurative way of describing life where something precious begins at birth and then constantly given a chance to improve the over all quality throughout the years of 'wear and tear' to withstand more test of time. Some people might think about this as a superficial thought, but the sentimental value these bags have with its artisans who made it and the owners who owns it evokes a whole sense of connection and memories. If odds would be in my favor, I'd be honored to have one of these precious hand bags in the future amid its worth and exclusivity. :)
I love an artistic person and admire their patience’s in doing very tedious work, best to repair the older and keep. I have a very old Fendi that I love.
In a world of mass production, trends, and disposable items, Hermés strives to make products such as their bags to have more value and quality that's worth keeping for years. Craftsmanship is something rare these days. It's nice that Hermés still continues their traditions. I think that back in the day, there were many craftsmen who made quality leather items who aren't well known and didn't have the capital to expand their business, and after they retire, they leave works of art in the hands of their customers who will use them for many many years. It's nice that Hermés has able to sustain itself and maintain their quality and brand prestige for this long. They're able to do this by being a family owned company. The way these artisans repair the bags, it's so calming and gentle.
