Lyrics
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
I heard he sang a good song
I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him
To listen for a while
And there he was this young boy
A stranger to my eyes
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
I felt all flushed with fever
Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters
And read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish
But he just kept right on
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
He sang as if he knew me
In all my dark despair
And then he looked right through me
As if I wasn't there
And he just kept on singing
Singing clear and strong
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh
Ohh ohh ohh ohh ohh ohh ohh
La la la, la la la
Ohh ohh ohh, ohh ohh ohh
La ahh ahhhhhh haaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ha ahh ahh, ahh ahh ahh ahh
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me (softly)
He was strumming my pain
Yeah, he was singing my life
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly
With his song

Me
In 2024 may enjoing this clasic theme .Beatifull ❤
She is my idol since I was 18 playing her nonstop in my cassette recorder. From João Pessoa, Brazil.
Roberta is from my hometown in Asheville NC. One Christmas, she gave a free concert downtown in the late 1980's. I remember her in a full length fur coat standing on stage as we were all very cold but she was a true professional and spectacular and her voice was just as good live as in the recordings. Roberta was a special person.
I'll bet she was. My mom always liked her music,as I was growing up. Roberta Flack was part of my life growing up❤
Aww you from Christ school… I go from Owen and y’all’s XC team is so cracked. Just a random thought, love this song though 😅
“Is” a special person. She’s still with us :)
You have a foto?
Pitch Perfect.
No auto-tune. No huge choir or extravagant band. Just a pure voice and talent. Absolutely breathtaking!!!!
TRAP MUSIC 100000000% AUTOTUNE 🤢
@@thiagooo2096 you're an idiot
Live performances were really a treat back in the day.. No autotune, no backup singers (kinda), just talent.
Im a 64 year old man. This is a song that reflects my feelings when my son came into my life. It is so relatable that i still sing it to him, he is in his early 30s
Thanks for sharing your story. It is a very beautiful act of love that you have towards your child.
Mi negra ,hermosa ❤❤❤

This feels like opening an old chest in the attic & rediscovering forgotten treasures.

She is Still, the most beautiful artist. In sound, in person. We love you Roberta Flack, always.
the classic is timeless; the lyrics, the melody, the vocals and the instruments are just fabulous. The song is among my collection of the Golden oldies. Love it.
This is still a beautiful song even today. Because it’s sung by a beautiful talented lady and the lyrics will last forever ❤

To me Roberta Flack is, and has been one of the major musicians in the history of the rock & roll era. Her crystal clear vocals combined with her gift of piano, her obvious spiritual goodness, and her love of life, music, peace, and sharing her talents with the rest of the world, I believe Roberta Flack ranks right up there with the likes of Maria Callas, Èdith Piaf, Leontyne Price, Nina Simone, and Mahalia Jackson. These are our angels of voice, comfort, and inspiration.
she is world class. Her music will live forever
I absolutely agree with you!!
People with this kind of voice is few and far between. Love it. May she get into the hall of fame.
she has my vote.
As a very young little boy, many a night on my am radio, fell asleep listening to this beautiful song.
Magical....the voice, the range, the composure, everything 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿 I thank my late dad for ensuring that we grew up listening to proper, proper music!

This song was number 1, the week so September 7. 1973. That was 50 years ago. I was born September 7, 1973
That means you're #1 😉💫
My first year of college. We were all boy crazy and played this song constantly.
I was born September 7, 1993. Be happy 💪🏽
I was 16 in 1973. OMG, High School with this quality of singer and music, How lucky were we!!
I was just starting my senior year in HS. The early 70's had some of the best music ever written and performed.
I'm still listening in 2024 and beyond....JUMBO, JUMBO!!!🤓🤓🤓
❤
What a voice!!😭
I just had to hear this today. This instant. I wanted to sing it with her driving in my car. A little old lady driving home singing w Roberta Flack. Yup! Just what I needed. 🎶 ❤😊💐
My feelings EXACTLY! 😍🫂
Evergreen song and as beautiful as you
Roberta Flack is a angel in disguise. She has fooled us all so well with the most angelic voice known to man.
My , late father turned my family onto Roberta back in the mid 70's . We' d listen to this and Simon and Garfunkle on long family trips in our car . Good Stuff !
Roberta also had some nice songs that were in a couple of Clint Eastwood movies. Late 70s to early 80s.
This is magically beautiful.
Ich bin aufgewachsen mit diesem Song.'Er'war da seit den frühen 70er Jahren.Ich liebe ihn❤❤❤
Roberta flack is great! ❤❤❤❤
Gorgeous voice
MAY 3RD 2024...STILL A CLASSIC SONG 😊😊😊
What a classic of music
Good pop music for adults seemed to have descended over time, become extinct. Once there was a time of quality in proper enough music, with skills, hearts, traditions, talent. Here is one of the last fine performers, who played, sang, interpreted, expressed, performed, and, had great qualities in piano as well as vocal. Bravo.
Angelic. Timeless. I grew up with this tune and it was the best tune on the dance floor in those days the 70s.
❤Roberta Flack is what artistry is all about. A true angel who soars through the sky as she sings.🎉

¿Quién disfruta de este clásico?❤
Yo. Yo tengo 47 años, y nunca imaginé estar oyendo un video del 1972. Pero que bueno es su canto, y sin auto-tune. Esta canción es mi favorita, y la canta Lauryn Hill.
My mother used to sing this song for my siblings and I when we were very young. We had her recorded singing this song on a tape. Love U mom. Miss U. ❤
She is truly a gift from God with her voice even today a very beautiful song by a truly classy woman
The best love ballad ever written and performed. Not even close.
Perfection never dies...
Beautiful Singing

Unique and beautiful voiice. No screaming, just gorgeous straight ahead singing, making it about the song and music. She and Whitney my favorites.
2024 anyone ❤
Great song and amazing singer !
None of the music of today will be as lasting as songs like this. It is amazing how much the quality in music and art have dropped.
The greatest female singer of the 20th century. ❤ I have tears in my eyes while listening to her.
I cry also. More beauty than I can absord

“Killing me softly with your words - Roberta Flack”
The sad things is - I never knew and I’m 57 years old. Only now I know. Thank you Jimmy for staring into my soul and saying it exactly as it is. That’s powerful man!
Shall I morn for my life?
how beautiful inside and out ❤ please lord bring back the 60s and 70s cause the 2020’s suck worse than ever especially the music
What a class act! Awesome performance!
The voice of an Angel.
March 24 , 2024 . My teacher forced me to listen to this song , so here I am. (I had no other choice. If ukuk). But ngl the song is so good ❤
Making love with lyrics; still remember when this came out, definitely a favorite … Roberta’s voice is so fantastic she makes you “FEEL” it too!! ♥️
Uno de los mejores temas de los años 70. Un clásico de todos los tiempos.
To me, this is soul music in its purest form.
I was in high school when this came out. So many great memories around this song.
Most beautiful song ever💕
❤yea beautiful like yourself
Killing me softly with this iconic song....✌️
What a beautiful vision thank you
Beautiful voice. Excellent singing. Love Roberta Flack.
As raw as it gets, they don't come any better
Love, my Life
Шикарный льётся голос! Как золото колокольчиков! Я в знак восхищения склоняю голову перед шикарной женщиной, певицей, артистом! 😍🌹
I was only 8 but I fell in love with this song. Not the lyrics as much as the emotions. 50 years later, hearing the original brings a rush of emotions and memories.
Me too
I understand. But it is not the original.
This is a heartbreaking song perfectly sung
What a voice
sin palabras para definir el que siento al escuchar esta clásico de Roberta Flack una de mis canciones preferidas del mundo la mejor
In my mind her best
My gosh! The emotion she expresses !
She's may be a god. And she has my vote
This song is about watching Don McLean in concert. One of the greatest lyrical wonders and Roberta just kills it. Absolute perfection.
Don Mclean is so repetitive. I never like him or folk, country, etc. Love the blues, rock, jazz, soul.
Truly amazing
Not too many voices anywhere that I know of any more beautiful than this.
Such a pure and clean vocal. Almost like she is singing to a few friends, no effort needed, just for the love of singing.
Evry time I see her sing or hear her sing, I fall in love.
Siempre es un placer estético del más alto nivel escuchar a tan notable artista Gracias por tan buen A RTE❤
Quite simply... music does not get better than this Even fifty years later one of my favorites..
