Backup/ background singers are live too 😂❤that doesn’t take away from anything. A backing track is a different story, just saying. 🤷🏽♂️ …even though she used none here.
Roberta is from my hometown in Asheville NC. One Christmas, she gave a free concert downtown in the late 1980's. I remember her in a full length fur coat standing on stage as we were all very cold but she was a true professional and spectacular and her voice was just as good live as in the recordings. Roberta was a special person.
Oh, YEAH!!! And we happened to have an attic, when this played on the radio, every day! I can still smell the wood rafters on a hot, humid Allentown summer day!!!
Im a 64 year old man. This is a song that reflects my feelings when my son came into my life. It is so relatable that i still sing it to him, he is in his early 30s
Best voice suiting the words and melody except I would prefer every time the word "softly" would be more suave, sensual by being more "legato" (as we would say in classical music) !
this voice......is/was/will be the standard....I have always loved her voice!...crystal clear, wonderful pitch and sooooooo much emotion comes from Roberta through her voice!
I just had to hear this today. This instant. I wanted to sing it with her driving in my car. A little old lady driving home singing w Roberta Flack. Yup! Just what I needed. 🎶 ❤😊💐
the classic is timeless; the lyrics, the melody, the vocals and the instruments are just fabulous. The song is among my collection of the Golden oldies. Love it.
Magical....the voice, the range, the composure, everything 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿 I thank my late dad for ensuring that we grew up listening to proper, proper music!
Awesome. Well found.. Now you can enjoy discovering more Roberta Flack music 🎶. Even better got part of u back. Congratulations 🎊 ever hopeful into the future...
My , late father turned my family onto Roberta back in the mid 70's . We' d listen to this and Simon and Garfunkle on long family trips in our car . Good Stuff !
She sang like the beautiful song bird that she was...As a little boy of eight back in the early 1970s, this song often greeted us on the radio...one of my favorite songs from the era. This and Nicolette Larson's inimitable "LOTTA LOVE" was one of the staples of comfort music of the 1970s. I thank God every day that I was a child during this era...a real boon.
To me Roberta Flack is, and has been one of the major musicians in the history of the rock & roll era. Her crystal clear vocals combined with her gift of piano, her obvious spiritual goodness, and her love of life, music, peace, and sharing her talents with the rest of the world, I believe Roberta Flack ranks right up there with the likes of Maria Callas, Èdith Piaf, Leontyne Price, Nina Simone, and Mahalia Jackson. These are our angels of voice, comfort, and inspiration.
Yo. Yo tengo 47 años, y nunca imaginé estar oyendo un video del 1972. Pero que bueno es su canto, y sin auto-tune. Esta canción es mi favorita, y la canta Lauryn Hill.
Because of this song-Killing Me Softly, of all things-a tear or two of emotional baggage has slipped silently from my heart and landed on my computer, seeping into its very circuits, making it stutter, stumble, and fall apart. But in the strange and almost cruel twist of fate, the beauty of it all is that now my computer is stuck, helplessly trapped in an endless loop, playing this song over and over again. It's not just music-it's a current of emotion, pulling me deeper with every note, every word. The melody feels like it’s breathing my pain, echoing the suffering I've tried to bury, as though it knows-as if the song itself understands the weight I carry. And even as it tugs at my soul, drowning me in memories, there's a strange comfort in it, because this song... this song is one of my favorites.
This is Roberta Flack's song. No one else has ever been able to convey the meaning behind these lyrics. It truly is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written
@@jeshkam She made a hit and won an award but the lyrics aren't hers, she wasn't the one who saw Don McLean perform and she wasn't the one who was touched by his words. It's Lori's song and she deserved to receive credits for her song instead of a cover artist.
So heartbreaking to me that Roberta Flack is dying from ALS. No crueler disease. Crying now at her suffering. So grateful for her amazing unique voice. May she find peace soon.

Live performances were really a treat back in the day.. No autotune, no backup singers (kinda), just talent.
Backup/ background singers are live too 😂❤that doesn’t take away from anything. A backing track is a different story, just saying. 🤷🏽♂️ …even though she used none here.

Robertas voice is dynamite. It's so beautiful, clear and crisp . Nobody sings Killing Me Softly better than she does.

One of the most beautiful love songs ever written and sung by a woman who had one of the best voices ever.

Unique and beautiful voiice. No screaming, just gorgeous straight ahead singing, making it about the song and music. She and Whitney my favorites.
