Like, if the decision comes later, it doesn’t make sense, as those getting an univ abroad with good stipend will almost surely chose that over an unpredictable pmrf decision however strong their application is. It would be great if you could share an (approx) timeline for PMRF direct entry channel.

They have already started for next cycle. I received the following mail from my dept : Following is the timeline for Cycle 9 PMRF nomination. All the scholars are requested to stick to the timeline and the last date for submission of application will not be extended. 20th July 2022: ERP portal opens for students 5th August 2022: Last date for submitting the application 8th August 2022: Scrutiny of applications and nomination by department 10th August 2022: Last date for completing the nomination in ERP Ignore the term "ERP Portal", that is specific for IIT-kgp.

This is the criteria : completed or be pursuing the final year of 2 year M.Sc. in Science and Technology streams from IISc/IITs/NITs/IISERSs/IIEST and centrally funded IIITs. These candidates should have secured a CGPA/CPI of at least 8.0 (on a 10-point scale). OR from any other Institute/University recognized in India, These candidates should have secured a minimum CGPA of 8 or equivalent apart from a minimum score of 650 in the respective GATE subject. They apply for Ph.D. programme in one the PMRF granting institutes and get selected in the programme. So you need a gate rank for direct entry.
"In case of Integrated M.Tech/MSc and PhD programs, the candidate will be eligible to apply within 12 months of the date of satisfying the Master’s degree requirement." You are eligible for Lateral Entry only.

Yes she is eligible for PMRF provided she will be joining any of the PMRF granting institute as a research fellow. Her CGPA is also good. He can join now or in December up to her, but she will be eligible for sure.

Both Govt college at Jalpaiguri and NIT Rourkela is eligible. You need a gate score more than 650 and cgpa more than 8, then if you join any PMRF granting institute for PHD you are eligible for PMRF.

Direct Application: While joining for PhD you can apply for PMRF and if you crack it, then from starting you will get 70K. Lateral Application: Within one year of joining Ph.D you can apply for PMRF (After completing required courses) and if you crack it, then from that point of time you will get 70K. So those initial few days you wont get 70K, rather you will get 30K. I will make a FAQ video on this soon. Please wait for it for better clarification.

I have one doubt.I am going to complete 18 credits in course work. But for me 12 credit with minimum 8.5 cgpa will be enough to apply for this.But I don't think my average cgpa will be more than 8.5.Do you know how will calculate the cgpa to apply for pmrf.If they are considering only 4 courses, then I will get more than 8.5. 1. I dont know what are the criteria fro IITD to shortlist. But i think they should short list you for the coding round. 2. Year gap doesnot create any issue in PMRF, but yes low percentage in B.Sc might create some issue. But if you have good reserach proposal that might help you. Apply and see, there is no interview for PMRF selection as of now. All the best.

In eligibility criteria Point 1, we must satisfy it in the preceding three years from date of application for PMRF Will I be eligible? I'm confused. I'd be very grateful if you could clarify about the three year limit.
Just curious! How many scientific publication coming out of PMRF fellows? Are they researchwise superior than rest of the PhD students? I don't think so. This PMRF scheme is creating discrimination among PhD students. It has to be made like PMRF can be withdrawn from fellow if fellow is not scientifically productive for two year and couldn't able to show productivity in terms of either publication or independent research.
Every year there is a review process to verify the amount of work PMRF fellow does over the year and based on that, if someone could not provide significant work, his/her PMRF can be stopped. So that provision is there. But still I agree with you, there might be some non_PMRF students who might do better research than some PMRF fellow. But overall most of the PMRF fellows has better academic record and research experience than others. Hence they got this fellowship.

I got selected in phd in amu, but i dont know my admission date, name of supervisor and phd roll number yet as it takes some time in the admission process.. By the time pmrf selection process goes along my admission will be completed. But i cracked the exam and am selected.. Just admission is delayed.. Can i apply through direct entry. And lastly.. In your experience do direct entry candidates get any preference over lateral entry ones?
1. Coordinate with your dept regarding those information, they might help you. 2. No such preference, in fact i have seen more lateral selection than direct in IIT-Kgp atleast.

Selection of college happens first, then you can apply for PMRF.

For foreign PHD, you need good CGPA and Papers. Scholarship is also there, I am not sure about the amount though

Unfortunately it takes 4-5 months to get the results. We can't help that. Process is a bit slow. I will make a video on this soon.

I don't know why are you taking 18 credit ? I doubt if you complete 18 credit they will consider 12 credit for selection.

Try to get agood Gate score, then its possible. Or else you join any PMRF institure for PhD and apply for lateral.

1. I dont know what are the criteria fro IITD to shortlist. But i think they should short list you for the coding round.
2. Year gap doesnot create any issue in PMRF, but yes low percentage in B.Sc might create some issue. But if you have good reserach proposal that might help you. Apply and see, there is no interview for PMRF selection as of now. All the best.

If Mtech CGPA is good and you have papers, then you can get into.

Just curious! How many scientific publication coming out of PMRF fellows? Are they researchwise superior than rest of the PhD students? I don't think so. This PMRF scheme is creating discrimination among PhD students. It has to be made like PMRF can be withdrawn from fellow if fellow is not scientifically productive for two year and couldn't able to show productivity in terms of either publication or independent research.
Every year there is a review process to verify the amount of work PMRF fellow does over the year and based on that, if someone could not provide significant work, his/her PMRF can be stopped. So that provision is there.
But still I agree with you, there might be some non_PMRF students who might do better research than some PMRF fellow. But overall most of the PMRF fellows has better academic record and research experience than others. Hence they got this fellowship.
If i am getting an stipend of 31000 and also my phd is project sponsored which is giving me an additional 40000, then am i elligible for PMRF?

Yes you are eligible if you meet the cgpa criteria and all. Talk with pmrf coordinator of your college regarding this. He might help you better

No for direct you are not eligible, since your btech is beyond 3 years back. SO you can join PhD and apply for Lateral.
I'm in PhD program in IISc ..now i have to complete total 8 courses ..so I decided to take 3 course in this sem Aug- dec then 3 in next sem dec- Apr and then 2 in next year ....my question is it is mandatory to take 4 course in single sem? Or at least 4 course before applying PMRF??

When you get this pmrf scholarship, the orginal 35k will be gone Or is it additional scholarship?
Whenever you will get PMRF, from that cycle onwards you will get PMRF scholarship only, the 35K will be gone.

I got selected in phd in amu, but i dont know my admission date, name of supervisor and phd roll number yet as it takes some time in the admission process.. By the time pmrf selection process goes along my admission will be completed. But i cracked the exam and am selected.. Just admission is delayed.. Can i apply through direct entry.
And lastly.. In your experience do direct entry candidates get any preference over lateral entry ones?

2. No such preference, in fact i have seen more lateral selection than direct in IIT-Kgp atleast.
