I will be visiting here in August... I was wondering is it difficult to visit other sites in Puerto Plata off the resort property.. and can you invite any friends or guests into your room..
No, it will not be difficult to visit sites off the resort property. You can take an Uber or InDriver to get around. However, you would not be able to invite friends or guests to room without a wristband.
We head there in 20 days. We also did it the VIP way. What kind of liquor were you offered because you were VIP? Different beer?

Yes, the bars are there but they are not self service.

As of right now, masks are not required anywhere in DR so you should not have to worry about that.
