Hey Paul looks good.im the guy building the big mill in iowa, still trying to find 2 36in to 50 in band wheels,im hoping to start in the summer on this build ,i think part of my bed im going to put my cross purlins on 2 ft centers for about 8 ft then 4ft on centers for the rest of the 40 ft of the bed and track, just for the same reason of cutting short peices like you did theres some real treasure in some of the croch trees out there, for small match book stuff ,Jewelry boxes exsedra.but nicely done on your repair at least your running you mill cant say much for mine right now,lol well good luck sir, happy sawing,Duane.

Hey Duane great to hear from you again. I agree with the closer bunks towards the main work area and spread out towards the not so used areas. I would love to find some time to help out with that project. Sounds fun for sure. Those are some big ole’ wheels. Will be a great mill when done. Keep in touch for sure.

Just found your channel, nice job on the mill! I flatten one side of my short pieces, then flip it over and make my cuts. The flat side seems to make it a bit more stable and allows me to use ¾" angle to secure it to my baseboard over the bunks. Anyways, nice job!

I have used the chainsaw to get a flatter side to start with and that has worked great too. The angle iron is a good idea. Thanks for watching.
