The whole lip reduction thing is why you should go under the knife for you and you alone. Unless its a medical reason, trends change. People get their eyebrows tattooed for 'fashion' but you never know how quickly that could change. Same thing goes for the lips, like you said so many people wanted the big Kylie Jenner lips and now lip reduction? So if the new fashion trend was to have your face look like one of Floops fooglies from Spy Kids would people do it?

Really, ENDLESS thanks for shining a spotlight on this. As one of those people who both knew kids who grew up with shit like that and also had my fair share of it at home, I know what it's like to see people who thrived in spite of it and people who didn't as they got older, and not ONE of them was ever better _because_ of horrible shit like that. I still can't even quell how utterly livid every moment of those videos make me, but again, I really can't thank you enough for that video and the follow-up today for shining a spotlight on this shit.

Rob Dyke You have a large amount of content of videos on serial killers. This kind of abuse on young Cody is very reminiscent of the pasts of those killers. Cody shows these symptoms, which may be made even worse by the fact his abuse is on display for the internet-capable world to see. Do you think this could be the makings of a dangerous adult if proper mental health care is not made available to him?

I think the mother is 100% the source of the abuse. She is unable to empathize with Cody because he may be 'different' from the others. This is so sad and hope that social services get involved very soon because the mother has the potential to become an even worse abuser than she is right now. She might actually seriously start physically abusing him. I was similar to Cody where my mother would yell at me and hit me telling me I was "too sensitive" and the abuse she'd display would "make me stronger" and it did the exact opposite. I am very soft spoken and hate being yelled at even though I am 20 years old now. Thank you Philip, you may have saved this boy w/o even realizing it.

I work with kids Cody's age, and the second I heard her say he had spread feces I lost any doubt that might have lingered. This is SUCH a classic sign of a child who feels they have no control over what has been happening to them.
Also, a GOOD parent doesn't leave their cold behind and go on holiday when something like that happens. They don't punish them at all - they get concerned, they do the research Phil did, they take the child to get help. They DON'T call their own child crazy publicly - if they do think their son has mental health issues then, again, their instinct should be to help.

    • @babymouse7041

literaltruth amen. and calling that poor kid crazy just makes it worse bc he's going to feel like his reactions aren't alright to being treated like this. Scapegoating. One child becomes the center of all negativity in the family and is treated as though, just by existing, they cause all of the family issues. It's common in abusive households because it helps rationalize the abuse. "I'm not a bad dad! My other kids are all perfect and smart and I would never hurt them, it's Cody who MAKES us treat him like that."

  • @VivienneGucwa

"Cody has... something 'else' "..... Yea, because he's being abused by his own family. The family that is supposed to love and protect him, but is instead using him as a punching bag, for the sake of a "prank". I just don't get how some people, ESPECIALLY parents, can agree with and find what they are doing to him to funny. It is complete and total abuse, and that poor kid is going to have a rough future because of them.

Emily, I'm going to have to disagree. I get what you're saying in principle, but bad things can happen to good people. My aunt and uncle got investigated once cause my 5 year old cousin picked up the phone and said "I don't know where mommy is, I don't know when she'll be back" (presumably because she didn't listen to her mom when her mom said she was outside and would be back in 5 min) and the concerned citizen reported them to CPS (she only found out about the call when CPS/police showed up demanding answers).

THANK YOU for saying that "it'll make you stronger" bullshit is FALSE. I am NOT stronger. I have matricidal fantasies about choking and stabbing my mother to death for the shitty way she raised and treated me.
I'm depressive and lethargic and socially anxious, managing it, but if I hadn't been bullied in school from third grade until three years into high school and misdiagnosed by a school psych with "anger issues", I WOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH STRONGER PERSON.

I hope that someone with the power to do something does the right thing and helps those children by taking them away from their parents. There are people who should not have children and these people are a prime example. I also have to say I agree with the statement that I WISH someone would have saved me when I was a kid. I wish someone would have done something for me in my time if need and you Phill have done that for this family, you brought the darkness into the light so people could see this and that good sir does make you a hero.

Yesterday's episode messed me up, i'm not going to lie. The second I heard the mom yell "What the FUCK did you DO?" i started crying. Yes, that was SO fucked up.
But beyond that, beyond the obvious
How fucked is it now that they parents are telling the WORLD that Cody has a problem using the bathroom as well? Like, I couldn't watch that video, so I have no idea how much or little this family shares, but how the fuck is Cody supposed to ever have a normal life with that information plastered on the internet?

To punish a child for "not being normal" is hypocritical when you don't provide him with a normal or stable home life. And if the parents think he "has something else" then it's even more detrimental to his mental health to single him out and make him an outcast among his own family and they should be taking him to a mental health professional, not abandoning him and then telling him it's his fault he's abandoned. If Phil is right about the child's behavior beinga response to abuse, which the evidence is suggesting it's a strong possibility in my opinion, the internal conflict of disciplinary action like this will either leave him feeling even more cut off from his family and his siblings will notice that as well and follow the lead of the parents or he will conform to accepting the abuse to get the same rewards as the other children. It also seems like the parents are now taking a stance of "he's got something else" as a way of victim blaming inspired by their justifiers commenting about him having "anger issues" Also, to get mad at him for a choice they made not even just the behavior of their child, i.e. being upset that he isn't going and then turning into anger against him for not being there, is illogical and shows that these parents cannot take responsibility for any of their own actions. It's also seen in how they put their children out in the public eye, but then blame their audience, the public they submit their children to, for causing their kids drama when people question the actions of the parents or have concerns for the children.

There were so many things wrong with that Disney video
    1. His parents had what should be a private conversation about their child on the internet, not only for him to see but everybody else. They've said in videos that their kids have access to the youtube account and social media so there is no doubt in my mind that him and his siblings (who obviously pick on him) will hear his parents calling him "crazy" and saying if he came to disney he would make everyone miserable. Note this conversation happened after he put the camera on Cody and shamed him for his behaviour and reminding him why he wasn't coming to disney - as if he didn't already feel like shit.
    2. When Cody leaves all his dad says is "behave" not i love you, ill miss you, or I'm sorry. They when the door shuts one of the other kids begins to celebrate that Cody isn't around anymore and the dad says that he shouldn't be celebrating because he doesn't deserve to come either. So technically the other siblings have misbehaved and don't deserve the trip but Cody was the only one they rushed to exclude - it seems he is unfairly the target of the family in almost all scenarios. (This is also evident in the comments, some seemingly long time viewers pointed out bad behaviour from the siblings that had been shown in previous videos.)
    3. Even if Cody is not abused and his behaviour is not due to abuse he obviously needs professional help. His behaviour is abnormal. They say "God knows what else he has" well no, idiots, a professional child psychologist can easily tell you. It is one thing to punish children but when their bad behaviour becomes out of the norm you need to consult with a professional. They clearly have the money to do so now that they're raking in the TH-cam cash. I wonder if they're reluctant to send him to therapy because of what he could say about them... or their just ignorant white trash who don't understand how to help the human life they are in charge of.

I mean, if you're 15, and so are they, it's perfectly alright, and to be expected. Not to your kids. It's unbecoming, as a parent, to even think that's alright. That's what happens when people get a bunch of kids when they're young and stupid, but then remain in the stupid mindset, and forget the parenting side.

when you mentioned in a previous video that they had mentioned Cody had been caught playing with and putting fecal matter around the house I instantly thought it could be related to the abuse. When I was at university studying teaching I wrote an essay on identifying child abuse and playing with faeces was one sign which I researched into. I remember a story about a young boy who used to hide his faeces in his bed and smear it on the walls of his room. I'm glad you've brought up the possibility of the connection. Now this poor boy is being punished for something the parents may have created. I don't know what the relationship is between the parents and children but I'd assume the mother is not Cody's real mother. she seems to completely lack empathy for him and has zero concern for his emotional well-being.

Thank you so very much for your videos exposing DO5. I am a former social worker & I am also the adoptive mother of 2 children, formerly in foster care due to domestic violence, parental neglect & drug/alcohol abuse. My sons are now happy, healthy & thriving. However, they each have scars leftover from what they witnessed & were exposed to prior to being removed from their bio parents. It's mind boggling to me that anyone found the DO5 channel entertaining. I literally cried after seeing a few clips. There is no question that these children, especially Cody, were being subjected to verbal, emotional, & physical abuse for profit. I shudder to think what may have occurred when the cameras weren't rolling. You did a VERY admiral thing by bringing light to the situation. Thank goodness you spoke out about it. I applaud you, Philip, on behalf of all child protection workers, foster parents, adoptive parents, & children everywhere who endure such abuse, yet go onto become successful survivors. Bless you!❤️👏🏽❤️

How can anyone believe that Cody actually did what they said he did when the other day they wrongfully accused him of writing on the carpet-> albeit that was labeled as a prank? And how can you expect him to act as a "normal child" when you're not "normal parents?" This entire situation baffles me. I used to dislike CPS for taking people's children away, but I am starting to understand what their role is in society.

Going to Disneyland is a privilege for a kid, especially if you live too far from it or Walt Disney World in FL.

the daddyofive case breaks my heart. I work with children who have been abused and this is exactly what I see before they are taken into our custody, especially when it comes to large families. There's usually only one target, it's a great way to make it seem like nothing is going on, "4 out of 5 kids are fine, this one is just not normal" = the majority setup. I hope that the CPS in their area takes another long hard look at what is happening before that child is mentally reduced to nothing by his family.

I work in the public schools, and I see children terrified of their parents. They are children like Cody. I know that they act out because they want to be in control of something in their lives. With children in the schools however, I know exactly what to do to help. With Cody, I don't. We are people around the world just watching in anger as a child is abused. My question is, what is the protocol for situations like this? How can we do something?

I'm wondering as well, it really concerns me if the channel is basically just "prank and abuse my kids for money" and TH-cam has no problem with that. Especially with their new focus on "advertiser friendly content" it seems like a channel like this should not be tolerated, even if it were all "staged", which doesn't seem to be the case.
For now I just sent youtube feedback with the following message *"I have serious concerns with many videos published by the channel "daddyofive". They appear to show both physical and verbal abuse toward children, and are also profiting from these videos. Please look into it."* (the feedback tab is on the very bottom of the screen)

Montgomery Country Sheriff's Department contacted me today to inform me while these child abusers don't live in their Country (their POB is though in the county), they have forwarded information to Maryland Child Protective Services, and that department informed them they are AWARE of the videos and family, and are currently investigating, but cannot comment further on the open investigation.
So just taking down the videos won't protect them, and I hope that Maryland CPS due a thorough investigation this time with the substantial video evidence take action to protect not only Cody, but the other children as well.

I have watched all the videos, and they didn't explain anything. They made excuses to try to cover their asses much like typical abusers do. Their last video made me even more "against" them as they aren't very good liars and again, it's typical abuser explanations. Not all of us are ignorant of this type of behavior and have gone through it ourselves, and dealt with abusers before. You can believe who you want to believe but I will side on the children protection every time.

When a kid is told by his parents he can't go to Disney World and he is SMILING, you know there is something wrong. He just seems happy to get away from them. I'm glad you intervened and posted that video about the DaddyOFive channel. I agree that there is something very wrong with that family and how they treat their children, especially Cody who seems to be abused the most. The "apology" makes no difference--it's easy for parents to coach their children to react or respond in a certain way because children a) Can't fight back, b) Have no where to go (they aren't financially independent), c) Are still too young to fully understand how wrong their parents are to treat them so poorly.
I was verbally and emotionally abused as a child by my father, and no one ever intervened. Now I'm working on healing the mental scars through counseling, but it's not easy. The damage has been done and psychologically, I have some major issues to repair. I hope that someone takes those kids away from those abusive parents and gives them a chance to have a good childhood because you can't get your childhood back. Once it's gone, it's gone, and that's when you go through the most important development phases in your life. Start off on the wrong foot, and it's going to be a challenge to overcome it as an adult.

If they think Cody has something seriously wrong, why do they not have him evaluated by a child psychologist? Without parents in the room to coach him on what to say and away from his brothers. Perhaps instead of writing him off as "a kid with problems", maybe have him evaluated for a few days so he can open up about what is truly bothering him. I think if that were done there would be a lot more abuse uncovered aside from what they show people.

How can those hilljack parents watch their own videos as they edit them together and not be horrified by what they are doing to that child? It's so incredibly clear that poor kid is being singled out by the entire family... DO NOT GET ME WRONG!--I am a huge believer that our society has gotten soft and coddled, BUT that is not how you teach a boy to be a strong man. You have them do things on their own instead of doing it for them, you hold them accountable on school work by not letting them hangout with friends if they get poor grades, you teach them to earn respect by being polite and well behaved, teach them to be self reliant by looking at a problem and try to asses solutions before immediately asking for mom or dad's help..YOU DO NOT BULLY THEM, you do not single out one kid, you do not play pranks on a child and scream and cuss at them AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HIT THEM. Only cowards who have broken English, nasty goatees, no class, no self dignity and no BALLS abuse a child physically, mentally and verbally. I think those two are pieces of trash. I have two new born baby twins and I can't possibly fathom ever speaking to them or treating them that way. I love them more than I ever thought possible and that pains me to see two mentally ill adults abuse their own kid. Thank you for shitting on those two I hope their channel plummets and those two move back into their old trailer and that kid moves in with a wealthy family that treats him with respect and dignity.

Coming from a past filled with plenty of abuse and trauma, I cannot thank you enough for providing a light on such an insane story like this. NOBODY gets stronger from the kind of treatment those kids are facing and I know this from experience. Due to my past, I am facing severe ongoing and progressing mental disorders and scarring. Like Boogie said, I would have done anything for somebody to just step in and help even a little bit. You sharing and spreading this story is so important, because now the possibility to help and change the situation for these children is so much larger. And it will only continue to grow. You may not view yourself as a hero, but I can wholeheartedly say that what you are doing here, you and your team, is deeply heroic and selfless and important. You could potentially be saving lives here, preventing irreversible effects. If that isn't heroic I don't know what is.
