    John's back in his John Deere 7810 and he's got his hands on a Keltec bale chaser and over 200 silage bales to keep him busy while he finds out which is better... the Wilson or the Keltec! A bit more than your normal bale lifter and trailer. His Tractor skills are once again put to the test but where did his love of agriculture and passion for tractors and machinery come from?

    My granddad likes the wear spread over the field and I had a natural tendency to stick to a single set of tracks. You can imagine the friction that caused when I started doing more driving for him. :)
    Now I spread it where I can.

    Its a wonder they don't have them two barriers (front and back) on rams. When you let down your wings they fold down a bit and then when you fold up the arms them barriers fold back up snug. You couldn't snag the back bales then. I reckon on a short draw where the bales are relatively close to the yard is when you'd really save time.

    • @billabong9215
      @billabong9215 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope. Long draws too. If you'd 2 ten packs on the draw you'd still beat 2 bale trailers no bother. Drop and go.

    When ya have the 5 bales on could you not drop it down all the way, back up, lift up the last one and pull it up to keep them in closer together?

  • @cathalquinn5487
    @cathalquinn5487 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you get to the field drop the to sides and give the hand throttle a bit of a push. Start on your right side facing forward you get 2 there with out anything on your left. Then lift the 2 bales three quarter ways up, now fill your left side till full that’s stopped the craic of fill both side at one because when you drop the bales to the ground to pick the next bales the trailer want to turn over putting upward pressure on the bales and probably hole the. Works for us.

  • @Crottedenez1000
    @Crottedenez1000 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately, almost all self loading bale carriers do have the same flaw : they don’t pick up the bales the way they were laid down, one always has to drive (often with some heavy load on wet soil) crosswise on the field, leaving tracks that, once the ground dried out, makes jump for joy all upcoming machinery in the future…

    To be fair to you you're making a grand job of it. I've never driven a Wilson but I've put thousands of bales through a keltec and let me tell you I ripped some amount of bales on the first season never mind the first day. If be badly disappointed now if I rip more than on out of 4-500 in a day. Used to be 3 or 4 a load 😖

    Hi John Question for you see in video there is a ford 4000 with a tanco loader do you know what number it is and in your opion would it lift a 800kg bale into a feeder . Reason i ask bought an international 784 and it looks like the same loader on it but it was sprayed black so not sure

    • @jerryodriscoll3691
      @jerryodriscoll3691 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dont think the hydraulic pump would manage it as you would need it up to full height to drop into a feeder, only 19lpm flow and that's out of the box, if it did lift it that would put serious strain on the loader with that sort of weight and it would probably crack as it's a fairly old loader tbh

  • @jeffjefferson3364
    @jeffjefferson3364 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    She's kicking the leg up because of the weight out to either side, when you load one side you should have the other up until it the catch touches the face of the catch hook iykwim. The bales on the loaded sided then fall into the centre shifting the weight in so you'll not kick the back leg like you said you did.

    • @darrenjlobb
      @darrenjlobb ปีที่แล้ว

      Couldnt agree more! Everytime I see one of these trailers in use I cringe, the time messing around loading it and then only have 10 bales on! Could have cleared the field in 1/2 the time with conventional trailer and loader tractor....Wrapped in the yard, perfect combo, no risk of ripping bales either. Everyone has there preference though i guess

  • @shanemurphy277
