Fantastic video, so sad to see yet another 747 leave us. Only five RR powered 747's left :( That view of the engine startup was soooo awesome! Liked and favourited!
Dat Plane Guy Thanks DPG. Yep, the numbers are dwindling bit by bit. I was lucky enough to be departing OJI for its final flight out of Sydney and Australia. Glad you liked the video. I never get sick of engine starts. The RR engines have a unique sound on start up.
Thanks so much for sharing mate, what a privilege to see her up close one last time!! So sad to see the 747s going, they have served Qantas very well over many years, they will certainly be missed :(
YMML SpottingTeam Thanks YST. They certainly will. The only aircraft to really change the way we travel over 40 years ago. It was a revolutionary aircraft that made the world so much smaller to travel in. They have served QANTAS very well, and the sad part is they only have about 5 years of service left in them.
Thanks for uploading. So jealous that you still have 747s left. I really want to fly out of Auckland to Sydney Melbourne or Brisbane just to see a 747 in service
+Joshua Hamdorf Sorry for the late reply. That's water being blown out of the engine cowls by the pneumatic starter. If I recall correctly, it was raining the previous night, and water does tend to get into the engine inlets/tailpipes and settles in the bottom. So, nothing to worry about.
Sad to see the old birds go! Those 747's have served Qantas well. Loved this, but a bit sad to see them all going :( Thanks PS you have one of the best jobs in the world!
drugt3rs Thanks. Yep, no more of the '84 livery on our 747's. Now there's only "11 747's left hanging on the wall and if one 747 should accidentally fall........." You know the rest.
Nice vid! Sad to see another one leave, hopefully VH-OJM and OEB stick around a bit longer! Random fact: The retirement of OJI also marks the end of the old Qantas 1984 livery on the 747, as well as the end of this cabin configuration.
SleekDan97 Thanks. Yep, that's correct. It will either be OJM or OEB this year to go and both by mid 2016 unless something drastically changes in the meantime. Fingers crossed they stay around for quite a while longer.
interesting fact rolls royce engines turn clockwise as viewed from the front most other jet engines i think turn anticlockwise as viewed from the front allways wondered why this is so?
have spent many hours on board OJI (mainly SYD-NRT-SYD)...sad to see her leave the fleet (no water canon send off?). Is that the last RR powered 744 to leave now?
The Airline Show No water cannon send off. Just another "clump of aluminium" to leave the fleet. The only water cannon send offs these days are for retiring captains. Which isn't a bad thing though. It has had its engines and APU removed in Mojave. She doesn't look like she'll be seeing the air again.
This is the only 747 I've ever flown on, LAX to Brisbane, round trip. I'd rather push a 747 than fly in an A380 even if I got to fly it myself. Boeing rules, Airbus drools.
Hi, I'm the admin of the FB Boeing 747 The Queen of the Skies page. Congratulations for the video! I would like to share it on my page but it is too long (the public appreciates more videos of 5/6 minutes max): couldn't you make a video starting from time = 13: 00? Thank you!!
I know im a bit late here, but do u happen to know whats happening in 2017? im guessing they would be retiring one or too more, probably the ones with the *oj* registration
This video deserves 100,000,000 likes 👍
@@Amazing-Avia-Tech thank you for the kind comment.
Thanks for the upload. Longreach took us from LA-Sydney in July 2005.
Fantastic video, so sad to see yet another 747 leave us. Only five RR powered 747's left :( That view of the engine startup was soooo awesome! Liked and favourited!
It's even sadder than you think... There's actually only four RR 747s left, VH-OJS, OJT, OJU & OJM. VH-OEB is GE powered :/
SleekDan97 The saddest part is that the 747's will be gone in 5 years and there's only 11 left in the fleet.
To think that there were 36 Boeing 747s in the fleet in 2003....
And only 11 now with about 5 years left of service.

Thanks for posting!
Terence Wong Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it.
Was searching for the plane that took me to Australia in 2010, and found this Video. Sad to hear it's now resting in Mojave. Thanks for uploading.
The retirement of OJI certainly marked the end of the 1984 livery on a 747!
An historic moment well recorded. Thank you.
Vaughan Williamson Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for uploading. So jealous that you still have 747s left. I really want to fly out of Auckland to Sydney Melbourne or Brisbane just to see a 747 in service
Matt Gibby At this point there's only QANTAS and Thai that have scheduled regular passenger flights into Sydney.
Great video, thanks for sharing this, the first ever 747 I worked on as a crew member
82dots Glad you liked it. Only 11 747's hanging on the wall..........
how come at 15:07 you can see fluid coming out of the engines? is that right or is that a problem sort of confused....

+anna8099 Yes I do thanks. It's a job I love doing.
Great video man its sad seeing so many 747 leave the fleet and really sad OJI shows the end of the old Qantas livery on the 747

Awesome work recording and putting this video together, hopefully that we see this airplane flying as a cargo plane in the near future.

The Airline Show Still 4 more left OJS, OJT, OJU, OJM and I believe OJM is next to go

johnsoncm65 airbus is awesome and Boeing is still pretty good but I hate the 747 and its look it's so ugly

Why did this plane stop in Honolulu?
+HaaHaa HeeHee Possibly a crew stop or change over.
