The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via CBS All Access, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Alot of ppl are saying she doesn't sound like Tina but my understanding is that she was particularly selected by Tina Turner to play her. So whether she sounds like her or not to any of us....she has the Queen's approval and for that reason alone, everyone can STFU 🤣🤣🤣

Nobody but Tina sounds like Tina. Ms. Warren does capture the energy, power, and spirit - and she's just pretty damn amazing in her own right. Fantastic performance.
If they want to hear songs exactly the way Tina turner sang, listen to the record! This is a musical not a Tina turner impersonation contest.

@@stvp68 no, she doesn't. saw Ms. Warren in yesterday's matinee. She does two shows a day. In fact, for the next two weeks, it was announced her understudy will be doing the role EXCEPT for matinees. Ms. Warren will be doing the matinees ONLY for the next 14 days

Not really, Tina The Musical was in a West End London hit with Adrienne Warren BEFORE coming to the US so .... Colbert does what sells tickets. He NEVER showcases anyone unless there is a ticket sale attached

Lordy, yes! After watching YT performances of Fantasia's recent Grammy tribute to Tina & Beyonce's 2015 Kennedy Center Honors performance in front of Tina, I purposely came here to ask myself why this phenomenal singer & performer, Adrienne Warren (personally selected by Tina Turner to star in her Broadway musical!) was not chosen for either of those events!
She sounds great. Amazing really. Looks like she's having an awesome time.

Incredible performance! I’ve never heard a better live representation of the “wall of sound”. I wish I had seen this video sooner, so that I could have seen her on Broadway.
The show truly depicts how hard it was for her to switch styles to do it, too.
I knew exactly how that audience felt when they stood to applaud that bravura performance.

Just saw her perform this last night. When she finished, the audience kept clapping for about a full two minutes. It was incredible.

Well she doesn’t sound or look anything like Tina Turner, nor does she have the moves (here anyway) but the girls got some pipes! Wow! Impressive!
At first I thought this is not quite close to Tina, but then again nobody can do it, so instead of trying and failing, better for the singer to retain their own individuality and showcase the talent they do have, while respectful to the original.
gutspillage After this video I watched some clips from the actual theatre production and when she is dressed In the Tina wig and dress/costume she is much more believable as Tina and she has got the moves too. She did a great job. Hope this comes to Toronto. Would love to see it.

A really difficult song to sing live, Tina stopped singing the original version in the 70s because of the toll it took on her voice, this is amazing, absolutely in the spirit of the original.

She is excellent but she is not faithful to the Tina Turner style. I would submit even a little "Vegas-lounge-esque & corney". It aint entirely funky and Tina Turner never sang an unfunky note in her life. I find that distracting and disappointing.
She's obviously very talented, but, to my ears, this sounded like Shirley Bassey covering Tina Turner.

Wow, that was pretty incredible. I think this scene is her recording the song in the recording studio with Phil Spector, similar to the Angela Bassett movie and clips of Adrienne Warren performing this scene in the UK. With the wig and costume, she sure looks and sounds even more like the real thing. Did Tina ever perform this live with this arrangement?

Tina can't be duplicated - that's the point. Why would I want to go to a musical where the singer does sound EXACTLY the same? What's the point? This is why I veered away from realism in art - though I respect the talent of duplication; repetition; to me it doesn't equal creativity. The challenge here is to come close, but with a twist. If Tina were easy to clone, there wouldn't be the audience for a musical.
