Saw the show in Toronto…was amazing! The guys showed their music is timeless and we loved remembering the songs from our teenage years. No Beliebers in that crowd, just REAL music fans
Great catch and call..They definitely are utilizing his vocals. He sang lead on the opening of “take me in your arms” and backup vocals on every other track..and you’re correct. Great voice
I think Tom & Pat just get more interested & excited in the songs that are more guitar based. ....or the more rock songs . if you will. That, after all,is what the Doobie Brothers was originally based on. They like Michael McDonalds songs, but they are just geared more toward a guitar based band. Mr Mcdonald is geared more toward a saxophone / piano band. Im sure they use the times when Mr Mcdonald sings & plays the piano to take a breather. They know that he will put forth so much effort when he is singing & playing the piano that they can basically do nothing during those times,& it would not even be noticed.
If he sang it like the studio version he would have an easier time getting through the song. I’ll never understand why aging musicians think that by screaming way above their range, somehow that sounds better.
@@MikeHunt-gy6lc , you, a nobody, telling Michael Mcdonald, one of the greatest vocalists of his generation how to sing and use his voice! LMAO LMAO, your funny
Al, you are correct sir. That is an obvious stylistic technique, but it does wear old for the entire song, and now he performs it that way every time I've heard a recent live recording of it. But at least he's not dropping the key a step or two, making it sound totally different.
Just saw them last night. Michael still has it!
Michael McDonald still going! That’s what I’m talking about! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾✊🏾❤️
Man, I miss all of this great music. Timeless. Never gets old . D. Brothers. Awesome
When music and musicians had class.
Saw them in Raleigh tonight. Two and a half hours of hits and top notch delivery. Greatness doesn't fade.
Great quote: "Greatness does not fade."
Seeing them in Sydney Australia in April 2023. So looking forward to it..

Lovely!!
When did John Cowan start playing with the Doobie Brothers. A hell of a bass player and a voice that they should take advantage of.
Great catch and call..They definitely are utilizing his vocals. He sang lead on the opening of “take me in your arms” and backup vocals on every other track..and you’re correct. Great voice
know these guys. I named the band.. dyno
People standing there like they're in line for a bus...zzzzzz!!
Wow Michael slips that wool sock in his mouth to sing and we don’t even see it.
is it just me?? do Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons seem totally not interested in this song??

Its you!
Michaels voice sounds strained to me!
Past few times I’ve seen him he has. It seems like he’s getting it back though
He can sing good but don’t like how he falls behind in the verses.

Michael is now 70, and does sing out of rythym slightly, but he can still hit the high notes with just a little bit more effort.
