You forgot another great CE, Demonic Bodhisattva. Starting NP gauge is good to get him rolling, and he'll spew out a bunch of stars for the first 5 turns when you haven't stacked his NP yet. Also his bond CE, but I mean, that's obvious
Can't think of any I'd sacrifice Merlin quartz for. Probably because the Larturia banners are far from him, haha. Got him in under 500. 170 of that, I farmed for, but I also bought two full packs. Using him with Waver, Martha, and my Bond 10 Herc to make Barbatos pancakes right now. 60+ runs, of mostly one-shots later, and I can see why he's a monster. 500 SQ well spent. :D
I got him in a single sq summon (although after spending all my sq from the first 2 to 3 singularities, around 60 to 90 sq) and only been playing for a month or so xd Also I chose Saber Alter in the SR ticket and then got her 2 more times in Merlin banner. I feel like a lucky mothrfcker with my Merlin and Salter NP3. Pretty much set up for the next singularities (I’m already at the fifth, North America!). Can’t wait to reach Camelot and Babylonia!
My friend tried to summon Merlin to no avail and asked me to avenge him (i.e try to get Merlin). I had 126 saint quartz since I never did a saint quartz summon since the tutorial (though I did use summon tickets). I have over 30 saint quartz in free quests so i decided to do one 10 summon since I mainly want scathach when the new year summon comes. After doing it I said, my first 5-star is Merlin, well time to burn him for some rare prisms. (jk I just let him collect dust while I wait for my party cost to support him ;-;).
I managed to get The Game Breaker before going into Solomon. He saved my arse several times in the raids. In the final battle his buffs (plus a support's) combined with my always reliable Xanzang obliterated Goetia. I'm also pretty happy with his My Room conversations. Overall, I find him to be a fun servant and very reliable.

Just be reminded they nerfed him a bit for the summoned version. The Story one has a burst heal along side the Passive healing in his NP. Summoned one doesn't have the burst heal.

I made the combat suit extra mission by using mash lv40, hans lv30 and a friend merlin lv100 and getting at 110-120 turns
