    I have this exact turntable and I love it. I have had it for a year and a half now and it has been perfect for me. Love the Blu tooth feature and the built in amp. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants that 1st turn table to have for the house! So glad you reviewed this one .

    For those watching, there are slots under the headshell lift. The angle of the cartridge absolutely is adjustable. It even states such toward the back of the manual. That said, it wonder how hard it would be to reverse-engineer a plinth out of real mahogany or whatever kind of wood.

  • @stevesstuff1450
    @stevesstuff1450 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    For their asking price, that is a very nice looking and decent sounding turntable! Especially from "1-by-One" who are a pretty generic record player distributor....
    I love that 'cherry' wood plinth, with the silver metal controls - nice detail touch there! 👍

    The tonearm and anti skate etc look exactly like my 17 year old Pro-Ject Debut SE turntable, so I wonder if Pro-Ject supply parts for this turntable. Very interesting indeed. If it's like the Pro-Ject, then yes, you can move the whole cartridge forward and backwards to get the alignment set properly. You just cannot see that looking down at that bit on top

  • @PietroCristofoli

    Lenco here in Europe sells a very similar turntable: Lenco LBT-188 ... Lenco's variant can often be found for just under €200 here in Europe but some customers complain of issues with the anti-skating... the weight doesn't seem to stop the arm from moving outward.

    I have specific needs for a turntable, but apart from the cartridge being hard to upgrade, I’d have no problem recommending this turntable for those who want something affordable. It looks like it’s built very well, it has a nice solid plinth, aluminium platter and even the controls look solid too. The added bonus of it having Bluetooth also allows you to play it on any system as well. Not that I’m a big fan of Bluetooth myself, but many people use it as the primary source these days. I know a few friends who want to buy a turntable, but because I live in Australia, I don’t know if this turntable is available here or not.

    As a owner of vintage turntables there seems to be no reason to buy vintage anymore as current turntables are so good. At that price it is a steal. I definitely don't need it, but I definitely want it.

  • @UncleDansVintageVinyl
    @UncleDansVintageVinyl ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Heck, I'd buy that before I'd buy a Rega Planar 1. I think that would benefit from a somewhat better cartridge--say, an Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN. (I'm not dissing the AT3600L, which is a great cartridge in its own right.) Or the AT-VM95C if you want to stick with a conical stylus.
    Rega doesn't publish specs for its turntables. It's entirely possible that this inexpensive turntable matches the Planar 1's specs for wow and flutter and rumble. Some folks will say, "But the Rega tonearm!" Sure. But if the tonearm isn't introducing any resonance, it's probably just fine.
    By the way, I've become a fan of some of that cheesy old stuff. Enoch Light produced stacks of records, and you can almost always count on them to sound good. Recordology, if you haven't tried Billy Vaughn, you might enjoy his stuff, up until the mid-1960s. Vaughn's stuff on Dot Records tends to sound great. It's easy-listening, but Vaughn brought it up a notch or two over folks like Andre Kostelanetz. He usually had a sax player (often two) who were clearly having fun. So the stuff is just fun, and good examples sound great just as records.

  • @petersammon8771
    @petersammon8771 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great. Thanks! I have the Retro life oo six version of this turntable and it is wonderful but I had to go underneath and remove that black plastic housing to get to the motor controls to correct the speed. I could see where that could be an all-day project for some as the two speed controls are extremely sensitive. But once set properly the turntable is fantastic! Its own arm has been upgraded and now is minus the anti-skate weight as it is built-in like on some higher-end turntables. The tone arm is wonderful and the bearing friction low so you can upgrade the Audio-Technica 3600l cartridge to the 91b yellow stylus that tracks at 2 G

  • @Asriazh

    i got the Lenco LBT-188 which is the same turntable as here, cause it looked very solid at a decent price with very decent performance. Certainly way better than the usual suitcase players and i was not ashamed to pick that turntable for my dad. For someone who listens to records casually, not a bad pick at all, i think. The only downside is, that the turntable switches itself off after a while and you have to reengage the powerswitch at the back to make it spin again with the start/stop knob.

    I was going to purchase this, but there is no replaceable headshell, only that flattened tab. Different records require different cartridges and styli. It is a beautiful turntable. Maybe, I will get this and install a different tonearm. I really don't like the anti-skate weight and would rather a spring system. Why didn't they make this a 3-speed system?

    Buying as a gift for Christmas. I have generally purchased used vintage for myself but I can only buy something shippable for my friend. Its between this at $135, the Fluance RT80 at $169, or the Audio Technica At-LP60XBT at $159. Having a hard time picking as they all have concerns. Fluance lacks features, Audio Technica is of cheap materials, and this guy might have some QC issues, especially with speed control which appears un-adjustable.
    Which would you go with?

    I would definitely have that record player. but I have a shit load of hi fi's record players ect. My experience is a magnetic stylus sounds great, but they tend to jump at the slightest thing. I prefer a ceramic stylus i.e a B.S.R record player where that rarely skips on a record. I hate it when you are away for the toilet and you can hear a record playing the same bit over and over again! It pisses me off, but the Same record playing all the way through no bother on a 70's B.S.R rather than hitting the skids on a modern record player with magnetic cartridge. I suppose it would piss the snobby folk who have to listen to hi end record players that cost a bomb. I prefer old fashioned well maintained record players that aren't cheaply made, and costing a bomb! That one you bought looks great to me though!
