    Wood Harris is one of my favorite actors and people. He never lost himself in Hollywood.

    • @thespadestable
      @thespadestable 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @maracharese -
      Because he never had an "A-List" actors career. He had to keep things grounded, because he had to act to keep food on his plate and gas in his career. As Ricardo Montalbán once said in an interview, he was a Mexican actor working working in the U.S.. Unlike the big actors who are given script after script after script, they can read through them, toss most to the side, keep a few that seems interesting near, and out of those pick the one they have the most interest in. At best, he would only have one script in front of him, his family needed to be taken care of, so he acted.
      That lifestyle in Hollywood would keep one humble, and (almost) never lose themselves.

    True Story:
    One day, I watched "Paid In Full" in its entirety then went to work at a restaurant in Los Angeles. At work, I walked out the kitchen, swung the door open and there was Wood Harris! And he looked at me and my mouth dropped in shock and I pointed at him like "OMG its you! I just watched one of your movies this morning...." but no words came out my mouth I was so shocked lol. It's not that Michael Jordan didn't care about what people thought of him because, he made a career out of crafting his language and persona to ensure that he didn't offend anyone because, he was dutifully aware that the entire "World" were his customers. That's why, in the beginning stages of his career he was careful not to commit to any Political affiliations or Civil Rights Activism ideologies, as he was very cognitive of his image on the American Registry and as, he understood that it was the gateway to fame, fortune and prosperity as he surrounded himself with individuals that knew how to craft generational "Wealth" and use his likeness, skill-set and popularity in basketball in making him a household "Name" throughout the "World"! All of Michael Jordan's gesturings were designed to making him a "Billionaire" in the Athletic Shoe and Apparel Industry and for that, he purposely stayed away from "Controversial Rhetoric" that would adversely effect his "Brand"!

      Nobody’s ever said Scottie wasn’t number 2. Even Scottie says he’s 2 to Jordan. The problem was Jordan never respected him as a man and although he’ll give Pip backhanded compliments it’s always passive aggressive and dismissive. Scottie wasn’t just any 2nd option. He’s the greatest second option and it’s not even close. Kobe was the next best 2nd option and was ultimately the greater talent but even his time with Shaq wasn’t equal to what Scottie did from 89 to 98.

When you're famous, kids look up to you. He got rich off a lot of those kids parents buying his Air Jordans, the least he could do is sign an autograph for those kids every now and again.

    Always had a great deal of respect for Jordan's game but wasn't a fan of the man. The man could never diminish his gameplay and the gameplay will never make up for the man. With no fans, there is no NBA. The money generated to make him the wealthy man he is came from fans. There is no Jordan without people digging his style. Not everyone with game makes it. Jordan didn't appreciate that point. Jordan was an entertainer just like actors and singers. Without the people, nobody is there to watch.
    Always dug Wood Harris' game too. Have more respect for the man too.

    Did people really think that MJ was a saint in all aspects of life? The real hoopers know what it is with players that go above and beyond especially on the court. If a kid came to MJ himself and MJ said "sign it yourself", that's goin' overboard. Other men asking for autographs ain't the same thing even when doing it for a kid. I can imagine the amount of men that went about autographs in an annoying way or with evil intentions.
