Don't get me wrong, I'm really liking the scape, but I'm more impressed by the fact that you not only found a lid that fit so perfectly, but you also had a light that fit the lid, and you were able to just create a lamp out of a few pieces and parts.
I agree Trent on the whole lid/lamp... Although I cringe whenever I see him use the hot glue like that. There are types of silicone that would go on smoother and have a overall cleaner look. But I mean that's pretty much the only thing that gets me.
@@ironcladteddy8753 Oh yes! It's a very easy walk, right past Horsetail Falls Bridge if you're approaching from Portland. There's a second fall nearby called Ponytail Falls that's pretty cute. Oneonta Gorge is close to Horsetail and Ponytail, very beautiful, but tends to get overcrowded and can be a bit of a hike (especially over the log jam). It's amazing, but requires basically wading up creek to reach it. Better to look at photos, I think. Bridal Veil Falls is another waterfall along the Gorge that's easy to access and quite lovely!

Also, flowers are delivered in vases like this. You can probably find them at your local thrift store or yard sales because people don't know what to do with clear glass vases.
I really would love to take the handle off the lid, and put a lamp fixture on top. I love the interior LED ring. I would definitely opt for an RGB ring that I could control with a remote. Would make for a functional lamp and an awesome night light. Great work!!

I bought a similar sized jar just this afternoon! If it weren't for the fact I'd already bought plants then I'd totally give this a go, maybe in the future!
It's beautiful! However, as a crafter I have a couple of tips: #1 Always mark where your stuff is going to go with tape on the outside before securing it with silicone - if you mess up, it's going to be either painful to fix or waste material. #2 You'll have a real hard time cleaning or replacing that filter foam when it inevitably will need maintenance as its secured to the bottom. I would recommend using something else to hold it in place and hide - like rocks or wood. #3 Be careful on your choice of mosses as some species don't like constant water movement or saturation so they'll just rot away from the water, those usually prefer damp and poorly lit locations.
Okay I've made a similiar setup before, there are two problems that I encounter: 1. Those pump still somehow get clogged by small debris although I have literally wrapped it in filter foam, and to unclog it will need a lot of effort (basically removing everything and then reattach) 2. The minerals in water will stain the glass/acrylic because the water will splash even if using the lowest pump speed, in which if they are not cleaned immediately it will be really hard to clean, especially in a closed tank

I would say that's one of the two flaws with his builds, i love them and they look amazing. However maintenance seems questionable because they're designed to look amazing immediately for youtube. Also (and i don't blame him because i would probably makes the same mistakes) He seems to go through and waste alot of man-made plastic-based polycarbonate materials.

I was trying to find an idea for a moss terrarium and this looks perfect. Mind if I ask two questions? 1) [noob builder here] Why did you use plastic cups instead of foam spray? Could you do that or is it too tricky to get the angles right and/or making it watertight? 2) Did you add any fauna to it? I did see a tiny creature and someone else in the comments mentioned a snail.
I love this idea! Resembles some of the waterfalls here in West Virginia. I find it interesting that the water flow and sound made at the falls depends on how the water cascades over the rock. One spot looks like a flat sheet of water coming over the rock while others fall to one rock, then another, and finally into a pool at the base.
So, when you put the light in the lid you used hot glue over the heat vents for the LEDs then placed it directly against the lid surface with nowhere for the heat to go. Interested to hear what happens to the light if left on for say, 2 hours. Hot glue melts again? Catches on fire? Melts the lid? Something else? Nothing?

I'd like to know how Tanner deals with those issues. We have really hard water here and mineral deposits are a constant thing in my fish tanks.

I like to think that background trickling was because you were using the bathroom while recording the voice-over.
