Here is a suggestion. The trailer is towed with the gooseneck forward, but the gooseneck is tapered on the forward side. This is not an aerodynamic shape if the vehicle travels at less than speed of sound. If the gooseneck was square fronted, space inside could be more efficiently used. Any attempt at streamlining a subsonic vehicle must be done at the rear, where the vertical rear plane bordered by lines of air separation governs the size of the wake (low pressure) which follows the vehicle. What would be the issue? It has safety chains, lights, appears to have electric brakes, and the tow vehicle hitch is more that sufficiently strong along with the bodywork mounting. The power margin is much narrower than most north America drivers are used to but I've seen Peugeots pulling horse trailers in Bavaria without issue.
Imagine a steep down hill road with a switchback, the trailer could overpower the VW,thereby tipping it over sideways. I think that would be a concern. Cheers
love the inside wood work.so beautiful rich wood tones.i love it.can see the issues with the front being weak like he said at the start of the vid and maybe they didnt want to address the financial need to fix it maybe the company had other behind the scene issues that prevented them from fixing and continuong to promote and push the product.i think this idea could have taken off maybe still could cuz of the ease alone of being able to move and park the trailor instead of having to only back it in alone makes it a selling point as that is a usual isuue with people.i can say myself im not the best prob.the worst at backing in a trailor and i would love anything that would make that easier.dunno but 1 thing for sure i love it
The vents next to the door window looked bent in , like someone leaned on them, & needed replaced but we're never replaced, & just painted over , is that the case, ? & on the back of the trailer below the back window looks like it was all dented in, or was that factory, or what was I seeing, or was that just a shadow, but all in all what a beautiful camper, I'd love to have 1, also I can't believe he just drilled through the VW's roof, I figured he'd a figured out something different how to attach it, like something similar to what they do now, by attaching the ball frame to the water channel, like they do most racks now, but I'm just wondering if that would be strong enough to haul camper
Guys it don't have to be to the measurement.. Just build a close version.. The average person isn't going to know anyway. There is enough shown here to get a very good general idea approx how to build your own. It just takes guts, skills and resources.. It's not rocket science; however, it does require skill to pull of a build such as this. Not for the novice by any-stretch of the imagination. Nice Restore Btw.. I dig the video

I am amazed that this didn't really take off in the 60's with the hippie movement, somebody really screwed up at Volkswagon. How much would a set up like that cost you nowadays?. I mean the arrow dynamic's on this thing is way ahead of it's time, there looks to be little or no drag. The ease of parking, hook up and disconnect, I mean this baby is a dream. With the front and back area you could easily have a family of 5 at the right age with mom and dad separated which can be a real bonus. Makes me want to get a vw and trailer and head off into the next woodstock, peace.

I've been offered $ 10,000 for mine, & the sticker price was only $3100..... Just putting it out there...
Very beautiful restoration, thank you for sharing your amazing story. God bless you and your family
Sweet rig, but I gotta think that it doesn't handle very well with the load mounted so high. I bet it's a handful in a stiff crosswind, or if you try taking a tight curve at speed. Still, I'd be happy to have one for the cool factor.
Very cool. Please take care of that great piece of 70’s history. It’s priceless!
💕💕😍😍👍👍😍😍💕💕
Thank you for restoring this and the video
, this set up all you would need is an outdoor screen shower, cassette toilet and a screen room tent, you would be good to go. love it, very rare
This is to cool.Reminds me of the TV show "laugh-In".
Remember Goldie Hawn? She would fit right in with her modeling this VW and trailer.
Oh, Bob....Those exposed bolts right where I'd crack my head are NOT cool.
so true, how easy is it to put some white caps on them?
Or shorter bolts..........fit and finish could be better
Just put some acorn nuts on there. No more piercing of the nuggen.
Use the bolts to attach some “oh shit” handles on the inside. Looks like perfect spacing and location for them.
The bolts are a 100% half assed solution. Drilling wouldn't be necessary if some proper thought had put into the mounting. Bugs don't need more holes.
Amazing that you saw it in the junkyard!
"How do I open this, Bob?"
Bob: "Just pull on it." Lmao.
Dear Volkswear.
Simply fantastic. Would have loved to see it run.
Bob did an extraordinary good job. He owns a great place too. The hubcaps and especially the tail lights are definitely not my kind of taste. Original ones would be much nicer respectively fit better. But, as always, this is a matter of personal taste.
Thanks a lot for saving restoring showing taping editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards.
Postscriptum: Please don't get me wrong but check out how often you use the word "actually".
what an awesome piece of history and so well restored by Bob! Very cool and thanks for the tour!
Pretty cool to see in person. JC.
Bob is the man. Unlike this idiot who sold the trailer for a bit extra money as soon as he bought it. Not thinking about the potential considering he has a gazillion views on the first video 😂
When i watched the video of when you recovered the trailer i was worried that would be the last we'd see of it. Thanks man. Keeping history alive.... And its car history..... The best history.
You said “actually” 26 times in 10 and a half minutes, that’s actually a lot.
You actually counted? Actually, I can't believe you actually watched the video to actually count the actual amount of times he actually said actually. LoL!!!! Smiling face!!!!
Kevin Kiss ... I actually did.
i couldnt hear what dude was saying cuz of it. Jezz us.
Because it’s actually necessary to punctuate every actual sentence with actually.
@@klayvonisme I almost did.
It is perfect. Also congratulations to the people that restored the two beauties.
i watched part 1 and 2 and they make this thing sound sooo rare but my grandma has one and when i used to go to the local car shows in pittsburgh with her shed park hers next to two others that other local owners would bring by , my grandfather hasn’t worked on the bug in a long time but i know they still have a VW bug camper but i don’t know if it runs
Could you post a video and comment here to reply to me be cool for us to see
6door 6four u got instagram or somem
@@ripdiptatterchip3851 instagram is 1992jdmrx7brent thanks dude!!!
I saw your first video, and now have watched the second one, and I am so glad I saw this.
I know that I have seen this kind of trailer before, and I now know why it looks soo unusual. I'm gonna keep my eyes open and hope I find another one.
Thanks for doing this video. Been wondering a while. I've got an idea to build something very similar out of fiberglass that would be more aerodynamic and lighter. That's a very well done build
It was pretty cool seeing it person. The interior was amazing. JC.
Fiberglass is heavier than you think.
@@markgigiel2722 all depends on how you use it. The way some people use fiberglass it's heavier. The way I would build would be a lot lighter and aerodynamic.
THAT TRAILER IS PHENOMINAL!!! GOOD JOB ON IT...VERY NIIICE!!! I WORKED FOR BOB SCHAEFER IN YUCAIPA CALIF & HE MADE RV TRAILERS...BEST MADE I EVER SAW (OR WORKED ON) DURABLE!!! 1st LESSON WAS HOW TO RUN SCREWS TO KEEP WRINKLES OUT...EVERY OTHER SCREW & THEN FILL IN...NICE GORGOUS JOB!!!
Very nice! I wish I had the skills to do something like this!
So crazy how that little thing has a kitchen, fridge, bathroom, and all the other stuff.. i love that kind of stuff.. absolute perfect restoration
That is absolutely mind boggling, and it would never in a million years be legal in my neck of the woods! I love it, and I want one! 🤩
Pretty neat trailer. I'm sure it would be frowned upon by the DOT these days. JC.
Old vehicles get a pass
What would be the issue? It has safety
chains, lights, appears to have electric brakes, and the tow vehicle hitch is more that sufficiently strong along with the bodywork mounting. The power margin is much narrower than most north America drivers are used to but I've seen Peugeots pulling horse trailers in Bavaria without issue.
Imagine a steep down hill road with a switchback, the trailer could overpower the VW,thereby tipping it over sideways. I think that would be a concern. Cheers
Someone needs start making this combination again!
I miss my bug..she burned up on the free way gas line broke while driving...sniff..I love the camper
love the inside wood work.so beautiful
rich wood tones.i love it.can see the issues with the front being weak like he said at the start of the vid and maybe they didnt want to address the financial need to fix it maybe the company had other behind the scene issues that prevented them from fixing and continuong to promote and push the product.i think this idea could have taken off maybe still could cuz of the ease alone of being able to move and park the trailor instead of having to only back it in alone makes it a selling point as that is a usual isuue with people.i can say myself im not the best prob.the worst at backing in a trailor and i would love anything that would make that easier.dunno but 1 thing for sure i love it
what a rare find. Hope to see a video of both hooked together and seeing a demo drive of it.
Would not surprise me it would come back in style with glamping being popular.
I wonder if my wife would see the beauty if I turned her mini van into a goose neck trailer :)
Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. JC.
The vents next to the door window looked bent in , like someone leaned on them, & needed replaced but we're never replaced, & just painted over , is that the case, ? & on the back of the trailer below the back window looks like it was all dented in, or was that factory, or what was I seeing, or was that just a shadow, but all in all what a beautiful camper, I'd love to have 1, also I can't believe he just drilled through the VW's roof, I figured he'd a figured out something different how to attach it, like something similar to what they do now, by attaching the ball frame to the water channel, like they do most racks now, but I'm just wondering if that would be strong enough to haul camper
i have always wanted one of these for my bug
Your profile pic tells me your plans had changed a little
@@jarekpszuk6944 not mine
Guys it don't have to be to the measurement.. Just build a close version.. The average person isn't going to know anyway. There is enough shown here to get a very good general idea approx how to build your own. It just takes guts, skills and resources.. It's not rocket science; however, it does require skill to pull of a build such as this. Not for the novice by any-stretch of the imagination. Nice Restore Btw.. I dig the video
Oh yeah no way that's awesome. This is one of my favorite things on the planet.
Esse parafuso, tem vedação pra não entrar água, quando chover ,ficou muito legal, ótimo acabamento
Very cool Bob you got a one of kind RV for sure thanks for sharing 🤗✌😁
Wow this was ahead of it's time!!!😲
I’ve been thinking of making one of these for a while, maybe someday in my “spare” time...beautiful interior!!! Great work Bob! thanks for sharing!
The interior is amazing in this trailer. I think it is great that he restored this trailer without anybody in the VW Community really even knowing and then shows up to a show in Colorado Springs and blows everybody away with this thing. JC.
There are like a million old guys named Bob that are super handy! Go Robert!
That is an excellent restoration!
Agreed. Bob did a great job on it. JC.
If bumble bee got the matrix lol
Awesome. Those hubcaps are super cool.
Lol so you bought the one in part 1...took no additional video then sold it (probably for a healthy profit because the original property owner likely had no clue what it was)
Neat dude
Great job Bob. Fantastic trailer.
That trailer is a thing of beauty.
