However, it is a bit of a different situation.
The female teacher has the expectation that the male student views it as recreational...and she would be correct. She cuts it off and she knows the student will walk away.
A male teacher and female student has an entire level of emotional and psychological complexity. The female student will get emotionally attached and ending it will undoubtedly cause some sort of emotional distress that people will see.
For the male teacher, it would be riding the tiger. He can't stay on, but he can't get off.

I taught for 30 years. Women have always been offenders, but it's only now that they're being caught and punished. I reported three different women for abusing students and all three were quietly let go with severance pay and kept their teaching licenses. One of the women had slept with at least two dozen male students.
Male teachers who were caught lost their jobs, their teaching license, and did prison time.

Actually I read a study on this and the punishment gap for this crime is no bigger than any other crime. You'd be surprised how short some of the sentences from the people who get busted on "To Catch a Predator" are, and those guys are targeting much younger individuals.

One reason women keep doing this is they don’t get the lengthy sentences that men get for the same exact crime.
If students had a backbone and stood up for them none of them would get jail time. Back in the day we stood by our friends and did not throw them under the bus as usually happens today.

They made a good point about the difference between male and female sexual predators. Male predators prefer anonymity, so they try to privately message their victim, groom them over time, and finally meet up somewhere discreetly. Female predators go after someone they know, send a few explicit pics, and off they go, often with less effort to be discreet because it's the victim who will tend to stay anonymous (except maybe to his closest friends). We also tend to have a stereotype of sexual predators as being male, and our methods of catching predators reflect that stereotype, so the female predators often don't have much fear of getting caught.

Theres also an idea that an older male with an immature female is real abuse whereas an older woman with a boy is '' initiating '' him, and not taking advantage of a youngster.

Of course, the book (and subsequent films) called Lolita reversed the genders, although that was less about an older male predator and more about an underage temptress.

They're teachers. Teachers form bonds with their students. I remember I tutored a 12 year old girl on coding for about a year when we had to break it off I felt like I lost a daughter.

What’s crazy is that a lot of these women are not bad looking. It’s just wrong what they are doing but maybe something that excites them feeling like they are in high school again. Something is definitely wrong with these women.

This type of thing has always been going on. Even when I was in high school. Smart phones and social media just made these stories more accessible.

What's really disturbing to me is that this "trend" began long after I was out of school. The only trend in teaching I can remember from my student days was some teachers started wearing sneakers occasionally instead of dress shoes.

When I was at high school a younger female teacher in her 20s would hangout with a group of us boys after school in the mall. We were on our good behavior when she was there, and we didn't even call her by her first name, but obviously we didn't mind her being there at all. There were no evidence of anything inappropriate going on, although thinking back, the whole thing was kinda inappropriate and if the genders were reversed it would have absolutely raised eyebrows.

I believe that there needs to be a bigger age gap for high school teachers. I’m a former middle school and high school teacher. By the time I started teaching teenagers, I was 38. I don’t think young women should be teaching at the secondary level. It’s not an excuse for this horrible crime, but it’s obviously a problem.
I had a teacher in high school who said she was sometimes taken as being a student.

It's because Society has this Double Standard when it comes to predators. So they give women the confidence that they can do this without problems because Society just gives them the benefit of the doubt.

I believe this is going on because there's always been this idea that if an attractive young female goes after a young teenage man it's ok and acceptable. It should not be the case and it's wrong no matter what and people need to be held accountable.

Same here. At university, a faculty would often stare at my chest(I workout a bit) when I would talk to her about assignments. It felt a bit invasive. Another time, in the executive office, this female staff took secret pictures of me while I was waiting for a document. I was scared of them, so I didn't say anything.
And this was in a conservative Islamic country, this is female nature.

Judging by all the “Hot for Teacher” comments here, I’m really wondering how much “PTSD “ was experienced later by the boys in question.
The only thing these boys suffered from is that their moms found out and got their teachers lives ruined, and then probably tried to shame their sons and tell them those teachers were evil women. Not sure about the "studies", but I bet those boys had to deal with the loss of love from their own families, the teacher who they were involved with, and backlash from other male students... although, there were probably some older girls in the school that thought if this kid could get and please a hot older teacher then imagine what he could do for them. So maybe it worked out for them in the end... but certainly not the teachers.
