Ah I disagree. I have been playing these games for so long now, an to me this was a waste of 100 dollars... yes 100 dollars is how much the base game cost here in Canada, I am just playing NHL 21.5. They don't have anything new in terms of goalie equipment, like the true stuff isn't there, still the same type of masks from NHL 14, Same stanley cup presentation since forever. Still the same free agent signing since 16 only have two teams to chose from with no negotiaon. NHL has a soild gameplay always has, but for $100 for NHL 22 when its all just a roster update... Don't buy please don't buy. The custom logos are still the same since 15 maybe even going back to 09.... there is so much they can add to make this a much better game than what it is. Give us back the option to play a full season in the CHL again, add the World Jr tournment to help increase our draft ranking, add a proper free like MLB the show has, Change the presentation to something new. I miss the way NHL 2002 pre game opening was. Use a stanley cup celebration like NHL 2K had, add a custom helmet maker for goalies and for when you create a team bring back the winter classic.
it's embarrassing that half the goalies in the game are wearing the wrong gear, cause EA was too lazy to reskin some pads into the true graphic. Fine you "wanted to focus on improving gameplay" but at least give us the bare minimum and finish the roster update by putting guys in the right gear.
I wonder how good this game would be if the developers actually went to a hockey game and spent any time watching the sport. I appreciate that they got rid of the ridiculous animation of players flopping down whenever you touch their skate with your stick but the didn't address the fact that right after a face off, players will just rub up against each other. This happens all the time in this game. The computer will steal the puck from you just by rubbing against you while you need to hit them with a fright train to get the puck from them. I know you can adjust the sliders but, how about you try and make a realistic game without the necessity to adjust the sliders to make up for you developing a badly controlled game? I also appreciate that they made one timers less automatic that last year but they seemed to have gone a little too far the other way. The goalie will suddenly make the most insane leg save on an open one timer that defies the laws of physics. I also can't stand it when you can almost predict when you are going to get a penalty called on you when playing thr computer. The computer will trip your players quite a bit and there won't be a call but you touch the computer player's skate and he will go down and a penalty will be called. The presentation is great but I don't know what sport they were watching where players just rub up against each other after the face off and don't fall down or try and get around the other player. Oh well, I'll be well gone by the time EA hires competent people to develop their hockey game. I know I'll be dead by the time they develop a decent Madden game again.
Don’t be surprised if roster sharing gets delayed. EA had a similar thing with Madden where the scouting update didn’t drop at launch, but was supposed to come about a month later. It ended up not coming for 3 months. Just saying this is EA, so be prepared for a delay

First of all, great review. I really enjoyed how thorough you were. The last NHL game that I played was NHL 17. Do you think it’ll be worth getting NHL 22 considering the last NHL game that I played was nearly 5 years ago?
No, it’s been the same recycled game for years now. Be a pro might be new to you but still nothing special. Same recycled recipe from last year when presented to us. Garbage. Last thing I enjoyed as a change was when they brought in Doc on commentary but that was so minor and he aint even there anymore. Cybulski sucks. Chel sucks. Im out.
I personally love this game. It’s also got a Pretty funny bug/glitch that can get you duplicate your draft picks to rig trading when in franchise. It’s overall just a better looking and feeling game than the previous ones.
For me I don’t care what the graphics look like if they aren’t HD or good maybe I’ll be like the graphics aren’t that good but the main reason I love these games is because it’s hockey I love hockey and I play these games because I enjoy watching it and playing it virtually people were saying 21 was not good and I bought it anyway and I enjoy it it’s fun in my opinion

It’s clear EA doesn’t give a shit about these sports games anymore. It’s time for someone who cares to take the reigns. Or let us have multiple devs like we did for decades. I miss those days of getting two or three separate nfl or nhl games.
Without doubt. This year was worth the buy. How the game behaves on the ice, feels like a new game. More fights over the puck in zones, feels Great. With a touch of changed sliders from Altito(spelling)
Ai goalies still let in short side goals even though they have the angle completely covered. It’s the same story as last year and it’s absolutely horrid.
Me and my buddy have next gen consoles but the rest of our team has current gen. Which game do you reccomend us buying? Is next gen that much better to the point of us buying the $100 version?
I'm super new to hockey is this game recommended as a start i play on PS4 still been wondering about 21 or 20 it's sooooo hard I want good gameplay and stuff to do offline I'm not an online player. Also is the glitches and the visual glitches still present for 22
They have some things to fix, on the ea play free trial it has a glitch that doesn’t tell the team that a player is on, the white background needs to go or the chem boost color needs to change from that light light green or yellow( yes I’m color blind) it blends into the white background. But so far I’m ok with nhl22 I’m just hoping they improve the game for nhl23
I've always been into hockey since watching the mighty ducks as a kid and remember playing NHL 95 on super nintendo. I live in Georgia so not alot of places to play real hockey so this game might be right up my alley.
Is it wrong that I am still playing NHL ‘14, and having fun with it? Yeah the rosters are old, but the Be A Pro mode is fun, and I get to have custom music in the game, etc.
Nice review! I'll definitely be getting NHL 22 either on launch day, a few days after or even on black friday when it's a little lower than the original price. From what I've seen, in my opinion, the game looks pretty solid from a graphics and gameplay aspect. Can't wait to play as my Bruins in the game as well, that's gonna be fun!!
Luckily in finland the game only cost 45€ on launch for ps5 and i somehow got sale cupon to save 35 extra so 10€ for new game not that bad, its around 12-13$
On my base PS4, cycling through the menus is terribly slow. Sometimes I wait 10 seconds for something to respond. At least the in-game play doesn’t suffer and graphics look great.
Due to all of the awful bugs, all of the awful ea trial glitches, the menu speeds on ps4, make this game almost unplayable in my opinion. Can’t believe I wasted $80 on this awful game. Worst gaming mistake of my life.
Waiting for a talented person to roster share the 96/ 97 Red Wings. If that's a possibility. Anything Madden related creeping into NHL makes me nervous. X Factors and Frostbite are the two.
Classic teams has been a want for years. EA doesn't do that in any game. Funny I fired up old NHL 2k5 and it had classic teams. Unnamed players but easy to edit.
Basically, any person can post their rosters online, so this means we can rosters updated after the next offseason instead of having to buy NHL 23, there can also be custom rosters with different years throughout the NHL (someone already made an NHl 2004 roster), missing NCAA/Russian players can be downloaded so you don't have to make them yourselves, and a ton more stuff like that!
@@GravitehHockey ooooooooooooh so basically the community will keep all the teams rosters up to date even after 22 has ran its cycle? I can definitely see the appeal behind that, almost makes it to where you don't NEED to get the next game just to have the correct rosters for said year. I think thats what you may be getting at?
Worst of all NHL games I've ever played. Im talking about MP. If you don't play online than game is awesome. Every single online server will lagg a lot. It is impossible to play MP so if that's what you looking for don't waste money.

@@localnemesis94 I honestly would not sure if it’s current gen but next gen is totally worth the buy
I'ma get it soon I really love the NHL game franchise
I’m glad they finally fixed the tripping animation. I have to try to trip them this time around instead of just holding my stick out there and they trip over it
Holy shit they actually listened they are actually going to put in a roster sharing.
Roster sharing being available soon is honestly the best part of this game by FAR lol
First of all, great review. I really enjoyed how thorough you were. The last NHL game that I played was NHL 17. Do you think it’ll be worth getting NHL 22 considering the last NHL game that I played was nearly 5 years ago?
I'd really like to get people's answer to this since I'm in the same boat. Great question.
100% honestly. From '17 this is a massive upgrade in my opinion.
Big question now... is this worth $20 now or wait for NHL 23?
For me I don’t care what the graphics look like if they aren’t HD or good maybe I’ll be like the graphics aren’t that good but the main reason I love these games is because it’s hockey I love hockey and I play these games because I enjoy watching it and playing it virtually people were saying 21 was not good and I bought it anyway and I enjoy it it’s fun in my opinion
I have nhl 21 and play online versus. Is nhl 22 worth the buy still ?,
@@wesman567 idk I enjoy it I enjoy any nhl games from old to new like I said idc about the graphics and crap I just ate that it’s a good game you have the be a pro and world of chel and everything ig it just depends on what your looking for
Haven't played one of these games since nhl 17 I think. When they removed 6v6 online play that was the last straw for me. Even with 6v6, I'm not buying an NHL game until is comes back to the PC.
Does the game still feel like the score was pre determined before it started?
It’s clear EA doesn’t give a shit about these sports games anymore. It’s time for someone who cares to take the reigns. Or let us have multiple devs like we did for decades. I miss those days of getting two or three separate nfl or nhl games.
One glitch that makes me chuckle is when playing Seattle, the fans hold up a sign that says NEKARK.
I just can’t believe they haven’t made a version for PC
In 8 games in franchise mode I've had one powerplay. While increasing the sliders for them. Wtf?
I had 8 in 30 or so games
Without doubt. This year was worth the buy. How the game behaves on the ice, feels like a new game. More fights over the puck in zones, feels Great. With a touch of changed sliders from Altito(spelling)
Literally Every goal scored against me was a cross crease pass
Was anyone in the passing lane? I'm watching defenses eat up cross crease passes all day.
How is the soundtrack awful? It's the first soundtrack I've overall liked from a nhl game in a while.
I’ve played this game all morning and the penalties and small glitches is absolutely awful and needs to be fixed, but other than that it’s so fun
Ai goalies still let in short side goals even though they have the angle completely covered. It’s the same story as last year and it’s absolutely horrid.
Can I play other games during my franchise or is it just my team like usual because that sucks
I hope they fix the puck size. Geez, I cant see the damn thing.
you can change the setting yourself
@@seansibley9371 I know, but even Large is too small.
@@Farfadet92 even with the puck highlight?
Yeah... Been playing the beta and 20 hours trial.
Getting used to it, but they should really have it like nhl 21
@@Farfadet92 ah didn’t realize they changed it from 21, that’s really lame lmao
Me and my buddy have next gen consoles but the rest of our team has current gen. Which game do you reccomend us buying? Is next gen that much better to the point of us buying the $100 version?
Do they have player edits? I saw create players, & team create, but didn’t notice player edit in the menu screens.
You say the passing is harder, but I bet the CPU still goes tape to tape 90% of the time.
Thanks for heads up, I’ll be sure to skip this years game!
59.99$ I wish it's like 105$ here in Canada for the standard edition 132.00$ for the x-factor one or whatever it's called now
@@baileyIrishCream6984 80 not 105
They need to go back to NHL Hitz Who's with me?
Honestly I’ve had it for a couple days now and it is so insanely bad I don’t know what to say.
Sure you have bud
They have alumini teams and new players on those rosters?
I'm super new to hockey is this game recommended as a start i play on PS4 still been wondering about 21 or 20 it's sooooo hard I want good gameplay and stuff to do offline I'm not an online player. Also is the glitches and the visual glitches still present for 22
is there force trade in franchise? and also can u edit players ovr in franchise?
Fix the puck Control problem in nhl 22 ea
Do you only get x factor in the deluxe edition or in the normal one? Pls reply if anyone knows
Is there franchise co-op?
Can you edit player attributes in franchise mode?
So they hyped you up on the graphics but the third shot on the trailer is a hard slap shot and the net doesn’t even move an inch
Is there any gameplay differences/features?
They have some things to fix, on the ea play free trial it has a glitch that doesn’t tell the team that a player is on, the white background needs to go or the chem boost color needs to change from that light light green or yellow( yes I’m color blind) it blends into the white background. But so far I’m ok with nhl22 I’m just hoping they improve the game for nhl23
If they add a Dark Mode in NHL 22 that would be the biggest blessing 🙏
Literally unplayable with created teams name and numbers being invisible
You know any news on this?
Felt like I could play some kind of defense but felt impossible to score goals
For me it was the opposite
Yeah offense feels a lot harder, lots of that is probably because it's harder to complete cross crease passes
I've always been into hockey since watching the mighty ducks as a kid and remember playing NHL 95 on super nintendo. I live in Georgia so not alot of places to play real hockey so this game might be right up my alley.
Don't tell EA but my 10hour trial reset 3 times, I have been playing it non stop and its still active XD
Is this x factor feature similar to the traits feature in NBA Live 19?
That ref is BUZZIN at 11:46 damn
He is living his best life lol
passing is harder? So they de-powered the one-timer? YES
You pretty much summed it up, one timers are WAY harder to get off clean
E, simple answer is NO ITS NOT WORTH IT
EEEEE
Why isn’t podkolzin in the game yet??
It’s definitely worth it if you’re playing next gen
Yeah it seems like a major upgrade from 21 if you're on next gen, especially those load times
yup it is i already tested it

Does franchise have fantasy drafts?
In Be a Pro can you be picked up for the world cup hockey each 4 years if you become a star player?
Surely I'm not the only one that wants to see blood during/after fights? also possibility of getting hit in face with puck
You can get hit in the face with the puck. but the blood will never comeback 😢
Blood would make it rated to be teen
@@Tyekiller115 I'd be fine with that haha, na seriously though blood was great back in day
@@ghostdrifts9791 what im saying is some idiotic parents would see it as bad because of the blood
@@Tyekiller115 Ah i know what you mean, but yet they buy their kids cod games?
Bruh we must’ve played different NHL 21s cause my shit had mad glitches
I really can't understand why there isn't any proper Tutorial Mode like in NHL 21. And yes, that grey Menu looks odd.
I wish NHL would come back to Pc
Can Ps5 play world of chel with ps4 players?
Why did they take away the create plays option 🤦♂️
Is it wrong that I am still playing NHL ‘14, and having fun with it? Yeah the rosters are old, but the Be A Pro mode is fun, and I get to have custom music in the game, etc.
Nice review! I'll definitely be getting NHL 22 either on launch day, a few days after or even on black friday when it's a little lower than the original price. From what I've seen, in my opinion, the game looks pretty solid from a graphics and gameplay aspect. Can't wait to play as my Bruins in the game as well, that's gonna be fun!!
Thanks brother! The game's definitely going to be 100% worth it once roster sharing comes into play, can't wait!
I’m sorry man but they took the bruins out this year in order to make room for Seattle 😋
@@GravitehHockey how does roster sharing benefit? I’m going to purchase the game but I don’t know what roster sharing is ?
Has the game come out yet
Luckily in finland the game only cost 45€ on launch for ps5 and i somehow got sale cupon to save 35 extra so 10€ for new game not that bad, its around 12-13$
Yooo that is SWEET!
I'm old, so help me out, what does roster sharing mean?
Someone can make a team roster for old teams or draft classes for future years.
Can u play online with a drafted team like before?
On my base PS4, cycling through the menus is terribly slow. Sometimes I wait 10 seconds for something to respond. At least the in-game play doesn’t suffer and graphics look great.
When celebrating a goal the slid into the wall then through it
Due to all of the awful bugs, all of the awful ea trial glitches, the menu speeds on ps4, make this game almost unplayable in my opinion. Can’t believe I wasted $80 on this awful game. Worst gaming mistake of my life.
I mean if you were dumb enough to drop 80 on some special edition of any game you're a big dummy
@@gobucks2k3 didn’t buy the special version-
Waiting for a talented person to roster share the 96/ 97 Red Wings. If that's a possibility.
Anything Madden related creeping into NHL makes me nervous. X Factors and Frostbite are the two.
I've already seen a person go and make the 2004 rosters in NHL 21, so it's a real possibility with roster sharing!
With roster sharing, I can bet many fans will add in some of the historic NHL teams (2000 Blues, 1997 Wings, 1994 Rangers, etc)
Classic teams has been a want for years. EA doesn't do that in any game. Funny I fired up old NHL 2k5 and it had classic teams. Unnamed players but easy to edit.
Gimme 02 too
I feel like it’s just a bonus content to 21 Be a pro is a carbon copy
This game was reviewed as a 6/10 and in my opinion that was being kind
Going to just wait until this game is available for free on EA Play.
And when will that be?
@@baileyIrishCream6984 Some time next year. I'm in no rush to play the game.
Does anyone know if I play on ps5 can I play against my buddy on ps4?
Sadly I'm pretty sure cross-play isn't a thing yet, it's a big shame
@@GravitehHockey Thank you for responding.
Can someone explain the hype behind roster sharing? I never understood what this really means and why its so hyped : |
@@GravitehHockey are you saying someone can create an entire league of legends and play just like it was in the 90’s???

Yea. No.
The god damn remote control volume is OUT OF CONTROL! No way to adjust it either!
It's the same as 21 . I'll save my money or just wait until it's on sale
L unless your on old gen.
Does anyone know if you can finally play franchise offline with friends ?
Worst of all NHL games I've ever played. Im talking about MP. If you don't play online than game is awesome. Every single online server will lagg a lot. It is impossible to play MP so if that's what you looking for don't waste money.
