I stayed there and met some AMAZING people. Ended up going to Germany to stay with the people I met there. This place has a VERY special place in my heart
This is the type of content I enjoy, although I stay at properties that are 4/5 star the influencers who get free stays and rave about every single property being amazing is so fake to me. As a paying customer I want objective reviews, not a paid advertisment.
I only started traveling when I was 21 but I’ve always needed AC and comforts...guess I started my 30s early😂 I get a lot of shit from Europeans for having never stayed at a hostel, but I just don’t think I could ever sleep in a room with other people snoring and shit👀😅
I can relate to those chilies drying in the sun. My Thai wife pulled a screen off a house window to sun dry bamboo she harvested here in North Carolina. She's an old-school Thai country girl and I love that she doesn't give up old traditions.
WOW!!!! Your have WAY more guts than me mate! That cliff scramble on trail alone was pretty intense! Seemed to have some 'change of life direction' slopes?
Some scary shit on that cliff bro. 😳 my stomach churned a few times. Be careful dude, vlogging v.s steep cliffs equals disaster. Stay healthy my TH-cam friend 🍻🙏
I agree with your analysis at the end....500 baht, wifi and AC....it means a bit of comfort, can connect to the world and send pixes to friends to tell them 'come here' and clean means no 'broken, sweaty' messes to avoid or deal with. The cliff shots and drone were absolutely breathtaking and beautiful (glad you stayed safe to share with us).
Paddy your videos are getting better and better, can't believe you do everything by yourself! I'm learning just by watching, thanks man! That sundry technique is used even here in Sicily for tomatoes by the way 😊🙏
Yes you followed our advice and went to Mai Pen Rai. Awesome! . I LOVED your video. The drone shots at the viewpoint were amazing!!! Thanks for going there and showing us this place again ❤️ Love Lysette & Erwin from the Netherlands
Wow. Even in 2004 i couldnt get a basic hut on Koh Phangan for less than 200B. What a great find Paddy. I would love a return of these basic wooden huts on the beach for next to nothing. Great find.
25 years ago that would have been heaven for me. Now older & softer, not so much. Like you I need air con, wi fi, clean tight sheets, dry bathroom & quiet. Thanks for bringing back memories of Koh Samui, those were great times!!!!
OMG I was freaking out just watching you on that viewpoint rock! But yeah, I’d definitely stay at that bungalow resort - but 2 nights would be my limit.
Awesome episode Paddy. I suggest you to get a power strip. It's extremely useful especially in Thailand. I found that most of the hotel rooms doesn't have enough outlet even if they have any.
Another AMAZING video! Lol...loved your sense of humor in this one! Guess that's why they say, "You get what you pay for!" Nothing wrong with wanting a few basic comforts, but it's nice you could take a day off from work! Stay safe and thanks again for your videos 😊
Whoa, I stayed at Mai Pen Rai on my first trip to SEA in January 2003 ! ! ! This is giving me mad flashbacks: I had a hut on top of the rocks for 6 or 7 $ / night and there were two small restaurants. The one by the beach you went to and another one on the rocks.
I’ve always believed in “you get what you pay for”. I’m the same as you - I’ve learned over the years to appreciate the creature comforts of home. Paying that little extra brings comfort and Wi-Fi. Another fascinating video - many thanks.
I got acrophobia just watching you on that ridge. Concur that and you're right, the view is spectacular. I'd wait 'til I got closer to sea level before doing my victory dance. Great vid!
I thought the same!!!!! Very professional looking cinema photography work there! How can you do all this while walking up a cliff?? I'm pretty impressed!
Omg it looks beautiful and it's nice to go back to basics sometime. I actually think more so now as used to being in lockdown with nothing open so I think with that view I would be over the moon. Stay safe paddy 🙏
My dear lovely paddy I don't think you were in the right mind set to fully embrace the roughing it scene..sometimes when you are faced with getting back to the roots the heart of it..the lack of wifi telling you unplugging even for a night is good for the soul.. Much love from the hippie at heart!!! Absolutely breath taking!!!
Is that a kinda new road Patty. Last time I was on Koh Phangan there was no road access to the east side of the island. The only way you could get there was by boat. Come on Patty, it a three dollar a night room. That is amazing. That hike to the view point was for sure next level adventure.
Your vids are awesome, Paddy, real big stuff. Followed most of your footsteps in Phuket, now it's Koh Samui soon - looking forward. Your vids turned me into a Thailand want-to-see, after Bangkok & Phuket I'm a Thailand-addict. So thanks for that ;-)
Hiya. Omg. Paddy, you have got some balls. Climbing over that part at the top. Beautiful drone shots. What amazing views. I just love watching your travels. Always great content. You know what you like and what you need. And for it just to be clean. :D Thank you for sharing. Have a great week. Safe travels.
One of your best videos. I'll not be bothered about Internet for a few days when I'm next there. Would love to stay on the beachfront bungalows. Wouldn't fancy the walk back to the ones on the hill after a few beers in the evening.
Enjoy your content as always. That beach where you're at, Than Sadet, has a secret beach where you have to cross the old wooden bridge at the far right end if you're facing beach. Once you've crossed, you have to make you way through some very dilapidated huts, walk up and over a hill to get to this beautiful desserted beach. If you have a chance tomorrow check it out.
I swear bro, your content was already bomb, but it just honestly keeps getting better. Just curious, but how are you finding your new camera so far? As a viewer, I can honestly say the quality seems perfect to me. Anyway, keep on enjoying yourself mi amigo!!!!!
Another 5 ⭐ Adventure Hike. You're a brave soul Paddy!👍 As long as you keep posting these videos we know you're okay. If you go a week or more without a post we're all gonna think you fell off a cliff somewhere.😲
Thank you for wonderful video! It is really interesting and useful! Plus motivate to travel! Cannot wait when all of us start travel again! Thank you for helping to promote tourism!
Hi Paddy, I just laughed so much watching this! My friend booked us into Mai Pen Rai bungalows 10 years ago and we had a bungalow on the rocks too. Believe it or not it looks like it’s improved slightly, we were greeted with lots of dead cockroaches and there’s was no electric at all until it went dark, I lasted 30 mins 😄 By the way love your channel, you’re my favourite 🤩
On the strength of your video we came to Mai pen rai and we are currently sat with the pigs…. The bit paddy you failed to inform us of was the roller coster experience on the ride here. If we had known that as two larger people we would of rented a jeep or a bigger bike. However we have survived the white knuckle ride here which it quiet and full of nature. Though the 100thb bungalow you showed is now 500 inc taxes for any people watching for the booking. The shower water is brown and though we are looking like sun gods right now we are hoping the tan stays when we manage to wash in clean water! Lol
It's just age Paddy 😂 you could get one of those rectangular, extension cables that allows you to plug different types of plugs into it. They are really lightweight and could come in handy.
I hate staying in very basic accommodation. I've stayed in a hostel only once and after that swore I would never again stay in anything similar. I need my comforts! But those huts looked amazing. I would stay there just for the scenery and atmosphere.
What an awesome place and such awesome views! And do not worry Paddy, it s not about getting soft so much as getting aged : 20's "hell yea, as long as it has a cool vibe I ll sleep anywhere"/ 30's "Erm do you have AC and WIFI?"/ But here comes the good part : 40's 'To hell with all the crap and social media, I ll go anywhere beautiful secluded again and will sleep fine even on the ground"
Wowww Paddy- you were very braved to have climbed that cliff!!! The view’s beautiful BUT- Don’t know about the moldy mattress & no air con! You’re just so lucky to be there right when it’s not crowded at all and you’re never going back to this should COVID die down completely! Thanks again for another epic vlog and look forward to seeing more of your adventures:) 😉
Very very nice video. The walk up the cliff was definitely dangerous but the views were great. Be safe......only take calculated chances. Keep rocking 👍🍺
Great videos paddy, keeping us entertained. When you go to Koh Tao can you check out Hin Wong beach bar, say hi to Mol and check out shark bay view bar say hi to Lou guide, and please visit the family on the mountain at mango view bar on the way to mango bay. Shark bay view bar is accessed thru rocky's bungallows. Have a great trip.
Best use of a fan is next to a window, facing out and down to exhaust heat or in and up to bring in fresh air. If you can't put it in a window, then next best is with as much air behind it as a source. Like in the middle of the room. Up against a wall it can only pull a limited amount of air and likely recycle the same air. You can also put a wet cloth or sponge behind it to cool the air that passes through. (Evaporative cooling.)

You really scared me this time Paddy. Looking you on that cliff was scary!
I agree that cliff part was scary to watch even though I am at home watching it on my TV. 🤣
I stayed there and met some AMAZING people. Ended up going to Germany to stay with the people I met there. This place has a VERY special place in my heart

I hear ya
Haha. Same. 20s - no worries. Sleep anywhere. 30s - need a bit of aircon and comfort.
Same, same all round
But one your backpacker never leave u😂
And wait until you get to your 40ies 😂
I only started traveling when I was 21 but I’ve always needed AC and comforts...guess I started my 30s early😂
I get a lot of shit from Europeans for having never stayed at a hostel, but I just don’t think I could ever sleep in a room with other people snoring and shit👀😅
50s sleep in hospital 😆
my legs went to jelly when you were 'up there' - great work Paddy
Me too, my legs are shaking
Very nice! Gave me inspiration. I'm selling everything to move there right now. I'll look you up when I get there. You're living my dream!
Same here! Just 2 more weeks to go 😱
Both of you, welcome to my beloved beautiful country. 🙏🙏🙏🥰♥️🌈🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
I can relate to those chilies drying in the sun. My Thai wife pulled a screen off a house window to sun dry bamboo she harvested here in North Carolina. She's an old-school Thai country girl and I love that she doesn't give up old traditions.
Have been there just yesterday!! Great location !! Thanks for sharing
สวยมากครับสุดยอด ไม่เคยเห็นในมุมมองแบบนี้ชื่นชมจากใจจริง
I absolutely love your videos! This one in particular loved it even more. Thank you for sharing your experience! ❤️
"Mai penrai "is " it doesn't matter "in english . The view point's breathtaking , enjoyed it a lot . Thanks
Thanks young man,you are the most natural & relaxed TH-camr.
@ 73 I'm definitely in need of air con.
Amazing footage at the end, Paddy, with the drone ❤️
OMG Mr. Doyle, do you have a death wish or something??!!! I'm scared of heights so I'd never climb out on that narrow rock but the view is awesome!
The theatrical score whilst boning a rock - best thing I've seen in 2021! Nice one Paddy!
That cliff view point was stunning ...
That's place is awesome. This is what I like

just wow. you, this place and thoughts about it. simple and honest. keep it up
Awesome journey to your room! The stairs are so beautiful and creative.
Omg.. when you were up on top of that rock. My heart goes for you... God bless you
Nice island day, bro. Love that view point and your mission impossible walk across the ridge. ;-)
Geez, I was sweating just watching you climb those rocks. Your videos are getting better by the day Paddy, I love it!
Another AMAZING video! Lol...loved your sense of humor in this one! Guess that's why they say, "You get what you pay for!" Nothing wrong with wanting a few basic comforts, but it's nice you could take a day off from work! Stay safe and thanks again for your videos 😊

So relieved you were in one piece at the end 😜😜 I love Koh Phangan. Cheers 🍷
If he weren't in one piece at the end...doubt we'd know, right?
Omg it looks beautiful and it's nice to go back to basics sometime. I actually think more so now as used to being in lockdown with nothing open so I think with that view I would be over the moon. Stay safe paddy 🙏

I stayed there when I backpacked in my early 20’s as well, and I wouldn’t want to rough it again either. Beautiful beach though!
Paddy thanks for going to the viewpoint, I haven’t seen Bottle Beach in years. That’s my favourite beach to stay and chill with no frill!
Thank you for wonderful video! It is really interesting and useful! Plus motivate to travel! Cannot wait when all of us start travel again! Thank you for helping to promote tourism!
Great views thanks for sharing
I hope you will go to Koh Ma - another part of Koh Phangan :-)
Another great video paddy well done 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
We loved Kph Phangan in Feb 2023, BOTTLE BEACH is well worth the trek through the jungle on a 4x 4
The dancing on the rock 🤣🤣🤣😂 priceless!!!! I couldn’t stop laughing. Great video!
Wow! I'm not afraid of heights but this trail was really scary! Thanks for adding so many great locations to my "Places To See" list 😍
Love the video👍🇸🇪i was at Koh Phangan in 1990 the first time, budgettravelling☺️🙏

Tis my favorate beach on phangan ❤ will be there on that exact spot in two weeks after quarantine. Nice shots and good music brother 👍
What a perfect place to stay.
And what a so cheap accommodation to stay. Looks unbelievably...
That’s why it’s my favourite island so far. Cheap and best!!
Wonderful video, Great View from Room, Amazing Deal, Private Beach. Trail was Too Good.
Overall Just Great. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
It's just age Paddy 😂 you could get one of those rectangular, extension cables that allows you to plug different types of plugs into it. They are really lightweight and could come in handy.
Wow! Paddy the views of this place are stunning!
Thx Paddy some amazing views. Not sure I could do that walk on the rocks mate 😰 take care. Loving the series too
I hate staying in very basic accommodation. I've stayed in a hostel only once and after that swore I would never again stay in anything similar. I need my comforts! But those huts looked amazing. I would stay there just for the scenery and atmosphere.
This is nice. I really liked the beach. And it is so cheap to be in. Thank you for sharing this! :)
Wow nice vlog again, so brave to climb up on the cliff really scary but the view so brilliant. 👍👍👍
Stayed around Ao Nang for couple weeks!! Definitly could live there!! Great videos!! Maybe Tiger Temple ???!!
Such a wonderful video

amazing drone shot 👍, 2 stars remote resorts there always have incredible view . This remind me to Moondance magic view at Koh Tao.

When I first watched this video I though it was the same villa's I came across on a long beach walk, lol. But yes, pretty much the same idea. Cheers!
