Love watching you react to The Mighty Metallica, you remind me of me when I first listened to them back in the 80s, I felt then I was witnessing greatness
Hey Gibby Lars Ulrich is tge drummer, Kirk Hammet is lead and James Hetfield is vocals and rhythm. Jason Newsted was the second bassist because the first bassist was dead in a bus crash. There current bassist is Rob Trujillo.
@Cory Thompson Hey, not everybody grew up listening to Metallica, or Metal at all. At least dude respects the music and is trying to learn. Many just dismiss it and never try.
Michael Free 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “Lars is the little Danish blur...” That’s amazing. He’s also the coolest guy! Got to meet him, Kirk, and Rob in Vegas 2004. All of them are really nice. Been a MetallicA fan since ‘86 🤘💕🤘
He did a wicked Seek And Destroy Live at one of the concerts, was AMAZING!! He definitely brought an energetic dimension to Metallica that's not been seen before him or afterwards. Love Cliff Burton and Robert Trujillo, but Jason was the Best
Jason was, and is a monster. He was a dual threat in MetallicA. While not as technical of a player as Cliff, he brought this energy to the band that they needed to carry on. He was one of some 50 bassist that auditioned for the band in '86. I was fortunate enough to see him with Metallica several times and the energy was always there. If you like that energy of his, check out; Creeping Death (Live in San Diego) or anything from the Moscow concert. Jason is why I picked up the bass in the 1st place. And with all the fame and fortune, he is a very humble guy. I've gotten the chance to talk with him a couple times, and he is just super cool and loves talking about music. If you want to see the real major rager on the 4 string muthafuka - Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls (Day on the green) Thank me later
Anthony Helton I absolutely and wholeheartedly agree. But... CAN D-Gibby handle a solid two hours of MetallicA? The hall is rented, the band engaged... It’s time to see if D-Gibby can dance 🤘
The only reason why ppl think it’s their greatest live performance is because it was their first concert that was pro shot. If it weren’t for the pro cameras and audio mixing, it would be just a regular old damaged justice tour show
That whole concert is pure energy. You should watch "and Justice for All" from that concert. As they play the stage falls apart (on purpose) it's pretty cool.
Awesome man, I believe it was 1986 I saw Metallica in Detroit with The late great Cliff Burton on bass. They broke out with there "new song" master of puppets and about 1,000 people from the upper bowl flooded the main floor, it was incredible. Oh yeah, they were the warm up band for Ozzy, imagine that! Changed my metal life. Detroit rock city.
D Gibby Jason Newstead is playing bass/ backing vocals. James hetfield-rhythm guitar and vocals Kirk hammett- lead guitar Jason Newstead- bass Lars Ulrich - drums Hope that Helps D Gibby
This was the most INSANE show I've ever been to. I still can't believe I was there. This was actually filmed over 2 shows. Tickets for the first show sold out in 15min. So they immediatly added a second show for the following night that sold out in like 25mins. Tickets were $25 I was at the 1st show. The place was electric. Gives me chills to sit and watch these. Mr. Gibby Sir. Thank you for the hours and hours of entertainment. Keep on BANGIN
You’ve done the album version of “Battery,” but not the Seattle ‘89 performance, which is just as fast and arguably heavier than “Whiplash.” Give it a look, it won’t disappoint.
Seattle is a no-brainer for some classic Metallica. Always awesome to watch. But for Whiplash, I'd have recommended the San Diego '92 version, which, apart from its epileptic editing, contains more of Jason Newstead (the bassist) singing.
Lars Ulrichis the drummer James Hetfield is lead singer and rhythms guitar Kirk Hammet is lead guitar Jason Newsted is on bass and backup vocals Great video btw!
I recommend for future Metallica reactions -Bleeding me (Load) -Outlaw Torn (Load) - the Memory Remains (Re-Load) - Devils Dance (Re-Load) - No Leaf Clover (Symphony&Metallica)
This is Jason newstead, bass player who took over for cliff burton after he passed away in a bus crash in Sweden during one of Metallica’s tours in 1986
Second video of yours I have watched. The first was Free Bird! Song is special to my heart like so many others. I am a singer and my brother is a rocker and we just played and song Free Bird at our mothers funeral. Her name was Birdie 😉 Momma loved lynard.
Live Shit: Binged & Purged from the '89 tour stop in Seattle is probably the greatest concert ever put to DVD. It's a time capsule, a video-induced psychedelic trip back to a time when music was music and executives were scared. Those were the days, man.
That was Jason newstead on bass singing bg vocals. Freckle fist pound. Luv you bro. You bring some great stuff. Takes me back to high school. BTW Rip Cliff...
🤘🤘🤘 congrats. You’re turning into a MetallicA-head. Gotta stick with Seattle 89 and check out Sanitarium. Now for a history lesson: Lars Ulrich- the crazy drummer who co founded MetallicA in ‘81 James Hetfield- lead singer & rhythm guitar and he cofounded the band with Lars Kirk Hammett- lead guitarist since ‘83 after Dave Mustaine was handed his drunk and violent hat. The band couldn’t control his drinking or violent nature. Jason Newstead- bassist and background vocals. He came in 1987 when original bassist Cliff Burton was killed in Sweden on September 27, 1986 by the band’s tour bus flipping three times. Cliff was tragically thrown out a window and the bus landed on him. Just after filming S&M (Symphony and MetallicA), Jason left MetallicA and was replaced by Robert Trujillo (formerly bassist for Ozzy). We good? 😃
Seattle 89 is probably the best concert ever. Sound Bangs. Energy Hard. Performance amazing. Do a live stream of a reaction to the whole concert. If not react to either Blackened, and Justice for all... or The Four Horsemen from here
It’s not their best live performance. The only reason why ppl think it’s their best live performance is because it was their first Metallica concert that was pro shot. If it weren’t for the pro cameras and audio mixing, it would seem like just a regular old damaged justice tour show, which it was.
I remember sneaking in to my older brothers room and listening to the Kill em all album as a young boy in the early/mid 90s and to this day this song is in my top3 of Metallica songs.
Whiplash a true thrash song from their 1st album. Glad you graduated to full speed Metallica. Please react to Anesthesia Pulling Teeth the bass solo by Cliff R.I.P. trust us it will 🤯
That was Jason Newsted who did backing vocals singing that one verse. Jason was bassist. Robert Trujillo the current bassist does backing vocals too. Don't think I ever seen Lars doing vocals. Kirk is a rare occasion.
I've DM'd you some TH-cam links of some Metallica songs performing Live from Seattle 1989 and a performance from Chicago 1983 "Anesthesia - Pulling Teeth." Cliff Burton was their 1st Bass Guitar Player, Jason Newstead was their 2nd Bass Guitar Player after the tragic death of Cliff Burton. Now, Robert Trujillo is their current Bass Player.
Another town another gig again we will explode we’ll never stop we’ll never quit because we’re Metallica! And they haven’t stopped yet 30 some years later!
Man, I love you're Metallica reactions. I read some of the comments in your reactions and one thing that is consistent is to check out Cliff Burton. Well I will post a link for you. Full concert. On tour for their first full length album, in 1983. In the video description is the set list with time stamps. For reactions go to Anethsesia (Pulling Teeth) and then also for a reaction go to Kirk's solo. The crowd goes nuts! The rest of the concert just enjoy yourself in your off time. You must understand...at this time this was the most awesome music we had encountered before. And it kicked our asses. You need to watch spit out the bone by metallica gibby
Love how James screams "DICKRASH" in the middle of the solo haha.
He let his intrusive thoughts get the best of him
We use to shout that here in the Bay Area....just like Primus "Sucks!"
Lars is on the drums. That's Jason Newstead, bassist no. 2
Jason is Bassist No. 3
Ron - Cliff - Jason - Bob - Rob
Ron dont count
@Cory Thompson Hey, not everybody grew up listening to Metallica, or Metal at all. At least dude respects the music and is trying to learn. Many just dismiss it and never try.

I still say you need to watch the entire concert, Live Shit, Binge and Purge, Seattle 1989.
Anthony Helton I absolutely and wholeheartedly agree.
But... CAN D-Gibby handle a solid two hours of MetallicA?
The hall is rented, the band engaged...
It’s time to see if D-Gibby can dance 🤘
Same with San Diego 1992 and Mexico City 93
Anthony Helton lol “The hall is rented, the orchestra engaged. It’s now time to see if you can dance.” Is a quote from Star Trek: the Next Generation.
@@VocalCitizen Lol, I doubt it babe🤟🐐😛
Greatest Metallica live performance. That’s Jason Newstead on the bass. Cliff may have been better musically. But Jason was Metallica on stage
