If u listen to the vocal versions apart from the Mills brothers and leon redbone, the head has been simplified into one note (lous, bobby darin, louis prima, thereby highlighting the chord progression instead of the beautiful arpeggiating tune that Hoagy Carmichael's genius brain came up with. One of the amazing versions is also Rosemary Cloony's.

I learned about this song from a 94 year old woman in 2007. She loved the Mill Brothers version. I had already been a fan of Hoagie Carmichael, but this song quickly became my favorite of his. I also noticed the bebop bop language and familiar progression...fascinatingly enough, it turns out this was the first tune Charlie Parker learned.
