I miss the days of “enchanced” podcasts on the old apple podcast app. It was nice to see pictures and links show up at specific time stamps. TH-cam is definitely the best way to see an episode like this

This is the Catalog from my oldest daughter's first Christmas. We had bouncy Tigger, the baby walker toy, and she had a rocking cow instead of a zebra. Many of these toys were things she got later, mostly 2nd hand, since her grandma owned a children's resale shop. I even worked for her for a bit. These toys bring back so many memories. I was also only 18, so there is a weird crossover of having some similar items as a kid.

23:45 - I was actually a catalogue model as a child (unfortunately not in ‘98, but in ‘99 for about a year) I have no record of which catalogues I was in, but I have my headshots and enrolment letter with the agency still! I was three so I would assume these models are still mostly very much alive

Going through an actual 1998 gift catalogue was maybe the best non-beanhole supplemental content yet. Also Eric is totally right, Robocop: Rogue City is a delight

Geoff thinking Transformers and GI Joe was being sold in 1998 is so funny. They stopped selling them once the cartoons went off air. He is straight up remembering things from his childhood. I know because I few years younger than Geoff.
Some of these toys have been around basically unchanged for a really long time. I'm 48. When I was a kid I played with a "Toss Across" that was left over from when my mother was a kid, so sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. And it looked pretty much just like the one in this catalog.
I HAD THAT GLOBE! Holy crap that takes me back!

1:27:32 H, "Tetris Attack" was one of my favorite games as a kid. I remember being 4-5 years old and staying up late because my mom and I were in a heated vs.. I finally beat her and got to stay up an extra hour or so (it feels like so much longer in my head, but I don't it really was. Time is weird when you're a kid). Good times, I still like to go back and play it occasionally.

7:11 My nephew has a toy like that, though I couldn't tell you if it's the same model or just something similar. If it's like the one he has, it doesn't need an external computer to run, I think they were advertising it more like "it has the power of a computer built-in". I once played a game with him where we'd pick random countries on the globe and it would show us the flag, and we'd try to draw the flags for ourselves. Having a physical toy is definitely a different experience than just looking it up on Google Maps, but if I remember to do so I will ask my brother when he got that toy and how much it cost him.

You guys can create so much comedy just by looking over an old catalogue. Sure, part of it is nostalgia, "oh yeah I used to go through those and wish I could have so much crap." but part of it is just the comedic genius of you all.

I had one of those car race track things brand new from one of these Sears catalogs around that time. Otherwise I recognized a bunch of random stuff I remember getting secondhand.
As someone from 97 I'm curious what 1 year old me could look forward too from this catalog. I'll add an edit about what would've been hige hits for me as an adult, or as a tiny very smol blabbering toddler.
If stored properly, brine shrimp (Sea Monkeys) eggs can last about a decade. So sadly, even under the best circumstances, eggs from ‘98 wouldn’t be viable.
God I feel old, I had a bunch of stuff out of this catalog. I was 3 in 1998
I like how surprised Gavin was that there was a fake Mc Donalds toy. I still have my "Barbie Pizza Party! Skipper Pizza Shop Playset" from 1995. Branded with Pizza Hut(R).
