    i have tried atleast 7-8 different tutorials to unlock bootloader, unbrick and re-lock bootloader. But everytime in the end, only your video tutorials have saved my phone. love your work

    Can you explain how you fixed the issue that you skipped in 6:20 where it refuses to talk to the Mi servers to activate the phone?

      @ExplainingAndroid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      this happened because there was a Xiaomi account logged into the phone when it was factory reset. this is a basic security feature built into all android phones
      from that screen you timestamped, i tapped the open wifi settings option and put in my wifi network password
      i then tapped the back button and got back to this screen, then tapped the activate this device option
      this requires me to log into the xiaomi mi account that was attached to the phone from before
      so i logged into my mi account and then proceeded with the android activation process
      there was no 'refusal to talk to the mi servers' at that timestamp

      @@ExplainingAndroid It is a common issue with the Xiaomi activation process, from what I found today. I was having the problem as I watched your video and hoped I would find the answer and when the video cut past it I flew into a rage. The answer, it turns out, is not to use wifi for activation. Seems like it prefers to activate over cell data, not wifi behind a router. Going to Wifi config, forgetting all the networks, then going back and activating from a cell connection resolved the issue.

      @@samurphy I apologize for cutting past that. I have done many xiaomi unlock tutorials and have shown that step in past ones. I just assumed it was a known step by now.
      I activate over wifi just fine. sorry to learn yours was having issues, though. are you running a pihole on your network? or a DNS filter that could block connections like that?
      happy to see you got it situated :)

      @@ExplainingAndroid I bet it was something like that. I never even thought about it. Well, if anyone else is searching for it in the future, hopefully they see this exchange.

    Our data will remain intact or it would get wiped out? Also will our device be Google Play Store certified after that?

    does it work on mediatek processors or only snapdragon please reply

      I don't have experience with the MediaTek version, but if the bootloader is currently unlocked then this video will show you how to lock it again (I can't image the steps would be any different)
      just make sure you have the original firmware installed on it (no root, no other ROM, 100% original firmware only)

    My redmi note 9 pro is on miui 12, can i just re-lock the bootloader or i have to downgrade to miui 11 (default redmi note 9 pro miui) first?

    • @ExplainingAndroid
      @ExplainingAndroid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can lock the bootloader while you're on MIUI 12 right now. it's safe (as long as you don't currently have Magisk, TWRP, or other root mods installed)

    All Snapdragon??

    • @ExplainingAndroid
      @ExplainingAndroid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yup, can confirm this will work on all snapdragon variants of the Redmi Note 9 series. I own the 9S and know it will work on the 9 Pro. But knowing Xiaomi, they've rebranded this phone a bunch more, and included other phones in the Redmi Note 9 series (that I'm not aware of)

    Do i need to wait 7 day to unlock my Bootloader after locking it back again?

    • @ExplainingAndroid
      @ExplainingAndroid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, that is only for the first unlock 'request'. once your mi account has passed that initial waiting period, you will get instant unlocks (if your account is still registered to the phone) in the future with miunlock
