I just became a member of the Washoe County Railroad Auxiliary Team, and I am in the early learning stages. I have a Radio Shack PRO95 Scanner that I want to learn how to program it so I can listen to the Trains traveling through Reno. I have the 4 Union Pacific frequencies used, I just need to learn how to program the scanner. I have a manual and have found a few videos. I also have a Baofeng RVR5 that apparently will work as well for this purpose. Thanks for posting. Any suggestions to help me are welcome.

Nice catch on that heritage unit!! On the one hand I bought a Baofeng radio for railfanning which works great and it piqued my interest in these radios but now I'm wishing I would've bought the BC125AT from the get-go as railfanning is my main use for one of these radios. Oh well there's always room for another radio!!!

I want to thank you for putting in your video about disabling the speech button on your CP Motorola. Working in a class 1 railroad, I've heard a few times of people messing on the radios. While I personally don't care if you hear us, it can be super dangerous if our crews can't hear each other. So thank you for explaining that it's a crime if you're caught. Listen, but don't talk on them, please.

I've had a friend minding his own business and this one guy who didn't work for the railroad, used a Motorola radio to pretend to be a NS employee to report my friend for trespassing because he didn't want him to be there. The reason why the guy made the false illegal transmission on the radio to NS was to steal stuff. My friend shared to me that he heard the guys voice on his scanner and the police did come and talked to my friend. Friend explained to the police what happened and they went looking for the guy who illegally transmitted on the radio and the guy got away unfortunately

@@TWIGYBNSF I'm sorry that happened to your friend. This guy will eventually get caught. I'm glad your friend doesn't play games on the radios either.

sad bearcat/uniden does not support the bc125at radio any longer. at least i could not find such on there web site.
the diamond antenna the letter/numbers after RH77 changes as per the style of mount. and there are adapters. i use the same antenna on my bc125, my yaesu vx-8 (yes i am a legal ham), even on a cheap chinese clone called uv-8dr. all three use different antenna mounts.

Explaining this is painfull, 17 inch magnet mount antenna and a real profession kenwood radio to listen to railroad, kenwood tk7180 vhf will work better and actually be cheaper then a scanner. Sound better and hear better... scanners are 1990s crap, go to ebay get radio programming software and cable then buy a premade VHF MAGNET MOUNT. EXTERNAL SPEAKER AND IT WILL BLOW THE DOORS OFF EVERYTHING, YET BE CHEAPER. SCANNERS ARE CRAP TUNERS AND EAT BATTERIES WHEN YOU TURN THEM UP. ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO OWN THEM. THIS IS BETTER ADVICE THEN SCANNERS, YOU CAN DO THIS ALL BETTER WITH WHAT IS THE SAME EQUIPMENT THE RAILROAD USES,..YOU CAN BUY IT ALL ON EBAY.
